  1. “U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., was mobbed by people this morning when he dropped by Vic’s coffee shop in north Boulder, expecting a friendly chat with a couple of dozen constituents.”
    Heh.

  2. Posted by: bluetech at August 9, 2009 1:27 PM:
I couldn’t agree with you more, bluetech. I read the Sun everyday (arguably the only one worth buying), and can’t believe that they would have such a shill for the Dems writing for them. It must be that they needed a female Eric Margolis on their pages with the only voice of reason being Peter Worthington.

  3. Here’s what I wrote to Ms Van Dusen:
    Dear Ms Van Dusen:
You wrote: “The first big sign that this leg of health reform is a campaign and not just a debate came when the rent-a-ranters surfaced. They’re the passionately anti-(fill in the blank) protesters who wander the countryside disrupting meetings by bellowing gibberish and wearing inscrutable headgear so that television cameras will be diverted from the issue at hand, in this case fixing health care. ”
Could you provide some evidence that the citizens who come to the Town Houses are not legitimately concerned about changing the health care system? Could you provide some evidence that the people who are going to meetings are just ‘wandering the countryside’? And that the debates in the Town Halls are being disrupted by ‘them’ (if they exist, and I think you should, as a responsible journalist, provide us some evidence for such). What ‘gibberish’ do you refer to? And what ‘headgear’?
2)Could you provide some evidence that debate, discussion, questions and analysis, should not be a vital necessity when dealing with a change to a society’s economic and societal infrastructure that deals with at least 6% of its economy? Isn’t dissent to a proposal a valid response and an integral part of the operation of democracy – and especially, if one concludes that such a proposal is costly, inefficient and won’t deal with the problem?
3)Do you think that the Health Care Bill should be passed without such popular debate, discussion and analysis? Do you agree with Mr. Obama that there is no need to read the bill? Or debate it? Or discuss it? That one should accept his Bill simply on the basis of TRUST in him? Do you think that the duty of Congress is to pass Bills because one trusts a President, or, to pass Bills because one has thoroughly READ, debated ,discussed and analyzed all its attributes?
    4) You wrote: “This is a campaign and not a debate partly because the Republicans have been wanting to re-run the one they lost last year. Falling back on the tactical and financial arsenal that has been used so many times so effectively to keep the health system as it is, is as easy as opening a kit. This time, there’s the twist of an ongoing series of race-based headlines to help the loudest rightie talkers rally the truly toxic anti-Obama fringes”
Could you provide proof of your first statement? That is, you are merging the issue of health care, which many of us assume requires a thorough debate and analysis because it is a legislative proposal — with an election campaign. Then,- you assert that because one lost the latter, one should not DEBATE the former! Merging a legislative proposal with an election campaign is quite an illogical assumption on your part!
    5) Essentially, you are declaring that any and all Bills put forth by a winning administration require NO DEBATE or analysis because the Opposition..did not win. That means that you are declaring that the Winning Side gets to put through any and all Bills without debate, questions, analysis…..simply and only because they Won a Campaign!
That effectively ends democracy, which is Rule of the People – and this requires debate, questions and dissent. Your opinion seems to support Rule by the Winning Party in a Political Campaign. Your political system is, if I may say so, totalitarian.
    6) You then move on to the issue of race. Could you provide some evidence and explanation of ‘race-based headlines’? What are you talking about? I’m sure you don’t mean the Gates affair, when both Prof. Gates and Mr. Obama inserted racism into what was not a racial incident. Therefore, – what are you referring to?
Thank you in advance for your comments to my questions. ”
    Will she answer? Probably not.

  4. With reference to Obama’s exhortation to any and all that you have to snitch on your neighbours and friends and family if they don’t ‘toe the line’ – what a divisive strategy. He’s setting up an either-or division among Americans. Either you are FOR Obama or Against Obama. Anyone who is Against must be reported to the authorities.
This is NOT about correcting misinformation about the Health Care Bill. After all, it’s over 1,000 pages long and neither Obama nor most of the Congress have read it. Therefore – who knows What Is Correct? No-one.
So, since the Correct Details are not public, then, how can Obama ask the public to write and inform the White House if someone is misinterpreting the Bill? Or writing about it incorrectly?
This then leads me to conclude that the Real Agenda of Obama’s Request – since it can’t have anything to do with the data in this Massive Bill – is to set up a psychological mindset among Americans of ‘Either You are For Obama’ or Else. And turning citizen against citizen.

  5. Frau Van Douzie iss just following odass. She is programed to report what the state prefers.

  6. ET, my email to her was somewhat shorter….lol, but still civil none the less.
I just asked her who the rent a ranters might be. The folks with the home made signs who want to discuss Obamacare, or the folks with the professionally designed and produced signs that beat up people that disagree with them.

  7. no-one – but the point is, since we don’t know the details of the Health Care Plan, then, the agenda of ‘snitch on your neighbour’ can’t be to clear up misinformation.
Instead, Obama is setting up a psychological cancer in America, where people view each other with suspicion, anger, resentment. Where they each consider that THEY know the ‘truth’ and the neighbour or guy at the water cooler, who has a different opinion..is ‘evil’.
Obama is setting up deep divisions in America. Not only racial, class and political..but psychological. He’s setting up a scenario where you are either For Obama (and therefore good) or Against Obama (and therefore evil).
What Obama is doing is so monstrous, so evil, so destructive…it’s beyond words.

  8. Re: rent-a-ranters:
I noticed in Kate’s blog post yesterday on the ‘protest’ in Denver, and posted this comment:
    Notice the signs?
The signs of the Americans against socialised health care (ok…the so-called trouble makers!) are from the heart, individual expressions, and appear handmade.
The Pro-O crowd (for socialism) have mass produced ‘printed’ signs.Who is making them and distibuting them? Not hard to figure out.

  9. Anybody who followed Van Dusen’s fawning descriptions of Obama during the Presidential campaign should know what side she supports.
Her fawning on everything Obama has its own entertainment value and none of Van Dusen’s lightweight fluff should be taken seriously … other than by her psychiatrist.
I guess writers like Van Dusen and Margolis provide some type of balance in the Sun chain, a balance that is sadly missing from CanWest, whose only ‘right-wing’ views are the occasional editorial meanderings of its owner.
If I’m not mistaken, Van Dusen is a wife (former wife?) of a Canadian ambassador to the US, likely appointed by a Liberal PM.

  10. USA needs a public insurance option to compete with the corrupt insurance companies. There’s no reason the Americans should need to live in fear of getting sick or being refused treatment by these private corporations. It’s also good for their capitalist system: GM was known as a health care provider who happened to make cars… This bankrupted them. And how about the religious right who want to call the USA a ‘Christian Nation’? What is Christian about ‘me-first-screw-everyone-else’?
These townhalls and corporate-backed astroturfing is just the same old right-wing tactics: exploit the Americans who are easily angered and full of fear to fight against their own interests. It works every time in a population that is uneducated or afraid.

  11. ET – you and I are on the same page. I don’t see that I said anything about misinformation in my post on this thread.
Although I can see him using the term “misinformation”, as a guise to promote his monstrous, evil agenda to divide the nation through the political, racial and physiological means you speak of – I would add spiritual division to the list. I see what you are saying – misinformation can not be labled as such if debate is not allowed to establish facts on the issue of health care or any other issue for that matter. Divide and conquer through tyranny disguised as reform. The end justifies the means – after all the country is in a crisis, albiet a manufactured one whose goal is to utterly destroy democracy in any form.

  12. I agree bluetech, notice the left only have ‘slogan’ signs where as the right are on point with serious and good questions.
Not vulgar or ignorant like the lefts’ usually get as I’ve seen in their previous protests.
    Remember the “new world odor”?
And the message from the big OWE is to…. hit back twice as hard? (ET, you are so on target with this guy.)
    This could get pretty nasty.

  13. set you free:
I didn’t say anything about me being smart, and I never used the word ‘everybody’… But yes, you’re partly right: there is a huge proportion of Americans, possibly a majority, who are scared of anything and everything that they are told to be scared of by FOX, or internet-bloggers, or corporate-backed organizers.
I wouldn’t call them dumb – that’s a little crass, but they are certainly easy to exploit. Judge them as you want.

  14. LC,
Did you look at the photo’s of the supposed “mob” members, or is it too much to ask that you educate yourself? I’ve posted the link below. LC, instead of taking your masters word on everything, I suggest you use your educated mind to do some objective investigating – is your goal the truth or is it justification of your deeply held views?
LC – here are your corporate-backed astroturfers.
    http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/meet-the-mob/ and from exvanislander http://www.lookingattheleft.com/2009/08/pelosi-astroturf-healthcare/
Now tell me LC – whose signs are mass produced? Who are the organized ones?
As an educated person, I would like to inform you that it was Christians who started hospitals in the first place-no fee either-you know good old Christian charity inspired by Jesus and the parable of the good samaritian-in the bible (have you ever even read the bible?) It was Christian organizations that supported the hospitals that the Christians started.
How many credits in history did you obtain? Let me guess you attended a liberal University that gives credit towards a degree for courses on pop culture and global warming.

  15. LC…are these the ones you are referring to as ‘uneducated?’
    (from the post at lookingatlefties)
“I asked him if he could tell me what the signs said. “¿Quien sabe?” (who knows?) was all he said to me, with a big grin. I’m kicking myself for not asking them how much they were getting paid to support the grassroots.”
BTW his sign said “Health Care for America now!”

  16. LC
Are you insane, delusional or simply misinformed? I am not trying to be mean but you have no clue about the populist rhetoric that you spew.
You are the type that would report me to flag@whitehouse.gov if I said that a computer would decide on your treatment rather than your Doctor (this is the reality of the electronic health records proposal, it is not to eliminate waste it is to compile DATA on treatments and tests to cubbyhole patients by statistical groups and to end personalized health care decisions to control costs), because you do not see the dangers of doing so.
In my opinion based on your comment you cannot even look at the reality of the Health Care System in the US in order to examine the effects and implications in the policy arena, all I see is the populist and anti-capitalist rhetoric regurgitated with some bigoted religious bile.
Do you even realize that are supporting an Administration that believes weather will put strains on military resources that could compromise national security, also they think that Conservative Veterans are Terrorist Risks but any organization that is not al Queda is not a terrorist threat? SCARE TACTIC anyone?
I say ignore these REAL PROTESTS, unlike the manufactured ones against the last Administration by liberal funded groups like Code Pink and Moveon.org, at your own peril. Dems cannot believe these protests are real because they manufacture theirs and believe the Republicans must do it to.
Explain to me why the Dems say the Republicans are disorganized and leaderless and party of No, yet can mobilize this many protesters is so many states at the same time. Contradiction in fantasy perhaps?
So stop parroting and start thinking.

  17. No-one: I see that the pro-health care reform people have mass-produced signs. I agree that it would be better for optics if they had made their own. I can also understand why they wouldn’t: maybe their message is simple enough that they don’t need more than one type. Whatever, I grant you that point.
On the other hand, the signs held by many of the ‘the mob’ prove my point about how some people will believe whatever they are told:
    -Obamacare: Arsenic for seniors
-Obamacare is a death sentence for seniors. Stop the communists in washington
-Who will lose their benefits next, or be told their life has no value
    -Read the bill comrade
-Government health care is an abuse of Federal power.
-My body, my doctor, my choice!!! no nationalized health care.
    -Gov’t care is anti-choice
Not all the protesters signs are nonsense, but anyone who knows anything about the debate knows that the examples above are stupid and have nothing to do with the bill. They are a direct result of the lies and misinformation being spread by the right through radio, FOX, and internet bloggers.
Re: Christians, while you’re talking about the first hospitals or whatever I’m talking about taking care of the sick and downtrodden. If you are trying to argue that real Christians would be against insuring more people, that’s an argument you will lose.
The rest of your post is silly flame bait and I’m too educated and arrogant to play along with that noise.
I thought this was a Canadian blog? I’m surprised the Canadian right-wing is falling for this garbage too. I hope you (as a group) are smarter than this for the sake of Canada.

  18. LC
It must be lonely up there on your pedestal…..
As others have stated above you could avoid sounding like a mental midget if you did a little research before you mindlessly repeat ‘dem-style’ talking points. Any fool can see that the protestors are average citizens exercising their democratic rights ( can we infer from your post that you subscribe or hail from a more fascist style government/country ?).
Yes, healthcare needs to be reformed (in both the US and Canada) but this bill is not the way to do it.

  19. LC :”USA needs a public insurance option…”
Charles Krauthammer has a better answer: “radical tort reform and radically severing the link between health insurance and employment.” Both would do more good than forcing everyone into Obamacare.

  20. Missing Link:
If you believe that the health care bill says anything about euthanasia or plans to implement a single-payer, then you have to expand your ‘research’ outside FOX news and Michelle Malkin.
But for real now, I’d like to hear someone coherent tell me why it’s such a bad idea to have a government insurance option to compete with the private insurance who have been getting away with anything they want since Nixon’s time. If this bill is not the way to do it, how is it done? The Republicans don’t have any ideas besides ‘no’ and the USA will go more and more in debt if they don’t fix it… So what?
I’m not repeating any talking points. I don’t give a shit about the Dems. I just hate seeing idiocy flourishing… especially in a country like the USA whose decisions affect Canadians quite a bit.

  21. I always skip over Van Deusen’s columns, fact is the sun is getting less and less appealing to me all the time. I read somewhere that Van Deusen worked for the Obama presidential campaign If true I think it’s dishonest for the sun not to disclose that info at the end of her Obama worshipping columns like they do for other columnists and guest columnists.

  22. LC,
Maybe YOU need to expand your insight to include things outside of MSNBC and healthcare.obama.com as you really are just repeating all their talking points.

  23. I gotta go now, but I’m gonna check back to see if there’s a coherent argument here (ie. in your own words) against health care reform rather than more right-wing silliness.
In the meantime, good luck with your hate!

  24. As I understand it all WH correspondence is saved for the record. So if complaints were made regarding certain truths they would be on record. Say the involvement of people that stand to benefit or the flaws in the system. Michelle’s patient dumping would be one. Some of the connections stuff like that. When the opposition doesn’t think it through they expose vital parts that can be used against it. History is a powerful tool.

  25. L= Lying
    C = Cretin
Good riddance. If we wanted to hear your opinion, we can always tune in to CBC, CTV, Global, CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR and all the rest of Socialism’s boot licking lemmings.

  26. LC,is there anyone that is against the new healthcare scheme that you would consider to be capable of rational thought? Is it all golden or may there be a few things that need to be tweaked,if not outright scrapped? Inquiring minds in Canada want to know.

  27. Oh wait, one more question. Do you consider the science is settled pertaining to “climate change”,as in ‘no more debate’ we must act now and act quickly?

  28. Has anyone tried to use the mail addy that Steyn provides? It could be fun.
And I’m pretty sure LC wouldn’t approve of the intelligent questions Professor Mike Adams has presented.
    Example
“Page 272 has some of the most esoteric language of the health care bill. But it looks like the government plans to ration health care for cancer patients. Can you tell me whether that is a) True or b) False?”
    Link provided at PTBC

  29. LC … do not throw around the word hate at people who disagree with you. It is not hateful to disagree, but to name-call … which means you are losing the argument … is provocative and may garner some hatred toward you.
Hate is a human emotion and it is there for a reason. It is there along with fear, love, anger etc. to help humans survive. It is those emotions that help a person take necessary action when it is needed.
There is no need to scorn anyone for employing natural emotion when provoked.
And whatever you do … don’t play the race card. That one is simply worn out and no longer has any meaning.

  30. LC: “If you believe that the health care bill says anything about euthanasia or plans to implement a single-payer”
Wow, you’ve managed to read a bill that hasn’t been written yet, much less passed. You have no idea of what it says or doesn’t say. But about that single-payer thing, let’s see what Obama himself has to say:
“I happen to be a proponent of single-payer, universal health care plans.”
“I don’t think we’re going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There’s going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out, or 15 years out, or 20 years out.”

  31. Those desperate Democrats/Obamites amuse me a lot these days.
They’re totally projecting all their own faults onto ordinary Americans for daring to dissent.
Whatever happened to the anarchistic spirit of the Democrats/Obamites? They used to celebrate anarchy, now the condemn simple dissent and assembly by mild-mannered American Voters.
Hey, have y’all noticed that the Leftist protesters, the funny-looking, gas-masked, molotov-cocktail-chucking youth who love to bash the government just for fun, they’re gone now? Why is that? I guess the “community organizers” have changed tactics and are now organizing the rabble to protest the American Voters as they engage in REAL protest…
What we have here, folks, is the Left protesting against the People!
Sheesh! The Left is, nowadays, all, “Down with the People! Power to the government!”

  32. LC – a key problem with your argument is your basic assumptions.
First, you assume that a public insurance has the same capacity of competition as a private insurance. This is an incorrect assumption. A public insurance has the taxpayers’ money to use; a private insurance has only its insuree’s money to use. This is, fiscally, an enormous difference. The public company can easily outbid the private company because it is, in effect, subsidized.
Second, your other assumption, which is unproven, is the ambiguous opinion that the private insurers are corrupt. I think you have to provide some proof of this. You see, the fact that there are private health care insurance companies means that you can switch to another one if you don’t like your current care.
GM didn’t go bankrupt because of its health care plan but because its unions transformed the company from making cars to providing wages and benefits to an elite class of employees – wages and benefits two to three times that in the private non-unionized sector. And this left no money for research and development of new cars.
As for insurance companies not providing care, you are under the false assumption that public health care will provide full care. It doesn’t. That’s why so many Canadians use the American health care system as a necessary resource. They can’t get the care in Canada – and so they go to the US. This includes everything from eye surgery to cancer treatment and etc.
Please explain what the ‘Christian right’ has to do with health care.
And yet another false assumption of yours is that dissent against the Obama health care is political rather than populist and rational. Please provide some proof – and the remarks of such Democrats as Pelosi etc, are hardly proof!
I’d say that it’s the left who are fear-mongering; notice how Obama is always asserting that the US is ‘in crisis’.
By the way, would you explain why you consider that debate, questions, dissent, about such an enormous change to policy – is unacceptable? You seem opposed to such a democratic action.
Actually, the Republicans DO have a coherent plan for health care reform and it certainly doesn’t involve inserting a government run health care. Remember, in Canada, such a system has resulted in an enormous bureaucracy – the main beneficiary of such a system and a minimalist care.
These include protecting doctors and hospitals from frivolous lawsuits; making the health care insurance mobile so that you take it with you when you transfer jobs; insurance companies can’t deny cover because of pre-existing conditions; ensuring that there is no massive, costly Washington bureaucracy which will drive up costs; making insurance policies national rather than state-confined; tax deduction for health care premiums; small businesses will be encouraged to form health co-ops for coverage; no lifetime coverage for Congressmen; etc.
Seems simple and basic and leaves the power to make decisions where it belongs – in the hands of the people. Not the government.

  33. “I gotta go now, but I’m gonna check back to see if there’s a coherent argument here (ie. in your own words) against health care reform rather than more right-wing silliness.”
    Wow he’s obtuse.

  34. LC – can you provide some proof that people who watch FOX news, as opposed to, let’s say, MSNBC, are biased and uninformed?
Could you explain why using the internet and bloggers means that you are biased and uninformed? My own view of the internet is that it operates as a network, and diverse opinions rapidly develop – as well as corrections of misinformation. Why are you against using the internet?
Also, your use of the term ‘corporation’ is ambiguous. What do you mean by it? After all, unions are now operating as ‘corporations’ and so do governments that run auto companies and health care! Please explain your terms.
And -why would you define someone who holds up a sign saying ‘Read the bill comrades’ as a member of a ‘mob’? Do you actually support Congress passing the health care bill without reading and debating it?
What about a sign that says that ‘government health care is an abuse of federal power’. That’s an opinion and can be argued with some validity. Why do you define is as a result of a ‘mob’?
What’s wrong with wanting choice in your health care insurance? Could you explain?
Could you provide some evidence for your opinion that the majority of Americans are ‘scared of everything’?
So far, I don’t see that you’ve provided any empirical or reasoned arguments for your assertions. Let’s hope you do!

  35. Doctor asks questions of a Congressman in Georgia.
Congressman flips out. Story on Drudge.
BTW, LC, did I mention it was a Democratic Congressman?
This is quickly becoming a free speech issue.

  36. set you free – it is indeed a free speech issue. It’s about the location of governmental power as well.
The Constitution guarantees free speech because it locates governmental power in – the people. Not in the government. In the people. Government of the people, by the people, for the people. That means that the legislature and executive committees govern only by the will and choice of the people.
Obama and the Democrats are rejecting this basic constitutional axiom. Obama considers that the electorate are irrelevant and even, unable to govern. They are, according to Obama and the Democrats, ‘a mob’, a ‘rabble’, unable to think and act on their own. The duty of the electorate is to follow Obama.
He is an elitist; he considers that he governs by His Will, not by the Will of the People. He believes that he governs by his Superiority – and he rejects criticism, dissent, questions, analysis. He expects Congress to pass His Bills on the basis of TRUST. They must trust him..and not bother to read and debate the Bills. To do so, according to Obama, is to show that they don’t trust Him.
This vicious abrogation of power, wresting it away from the people, is an attack on democracy. So, it’s not just about freedom of speech- which is a basic component of democracy. It’s about the location of the Power-to-Govern. Obama is denying this right of the people..and locating it in Himself.

  37. ET:
Ergo, LC’s assertion that We The People are too dumb or too scared to make an intelligent decision.
Clearly an attempt to transfer power from the people into the self-annointed elites.
Obama is merely a front-man, purportedly a great communicator.
His big weakness is an inability of accept criticism with any type of dignified response, therefore, he is not a wise ruler, even though he admittedly has a charismatic personality.

  38. Nobama is dangerous. People are still giving him the benefit of the doubt when he is truly ruining the country and setting it on the road to Fascism. What with the Black Panthers and the Union thugs very much akin to Hitlers brownshirts in the early days of the rise of the National Socialist Party. Very eerie and dangerous. America wake up now.

  39. LC,
“I thought this was a Canadian blog? I’m surprised the Canadian right-wing is falling for this garbage too”
As a Canadian, I am an expert when it comes to socialized health care as is every Canadian. BTW -it is not free, at least not in BC – there are monthly premiums and if you have not paid them – you will have to pay $150 up front to see a doctor. There is a premium assistance program, but it goes by your previous years tax earnings which must be under $29,000 to qualify. If you were to lose your job tomorrow you would not be eligible for government paid premiums unless you applied for and were accepted for welfare (social assistance).
Socialized health care is fine if you need stitches, even then you will find yourself waiting at least 4 – 6 hours in an emergency room.
My neighbour broke her neck for Pete’s sake in a car accident where there were 3 fatalities and she was sent home from the emergency ward with a neck brace because they had no bed – she lost her son in the accident.
If you are really sick, lets say cancer or heart disease, it’s another story altogether. You will wait at least 6 months, and that is if you are categorized as an “emergency” or “urgent priority” for an MRI or to see a specialist. Any other category the wait is at least 2 years. Is that what you want LC? Because that is what you are going to get with a socialized health care system with an aging population. Hospitals will close down. Several closed in BC and AB 15 or so years ago.
Who do you consider an authority on health care – let me guess – Micheal Moore – wrote many a paper on him, as a matter of fact, it was mandatory in one of my courses to watch his movies. I can guarantee that you have been effectively brainwashed.
ET and set you free are absolutely right – this is and has become a free speech issue. LC, just what are you afraid of? Healthy debate? Are you going to nark on your neighbour and report “suspicious” emails? Will you consider joining the Civilian National Security force Obameh has promised to give as much support and money to as the military? After all, the military is taxed – someone must take control of the “mob” most of the terrorists are home grown you know, according to CNN and MSN – we must fight the enemy within! The link below is Obama’s own words – his promise to you.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fO-usAlqak&NR=1

  40. I was just watching Fox News (That’s right, deal with it) and the Democrat “strategist” claimed that protesters were being paid and bused in. Frank Luntz asked him to provide proof. He just said that there were a half dozen fake letters to Congressmen that were being “investigated”.
This is why nobody should watch Fox News, because they are trolls. You know, trolls, the creatures that ask questions that you can’t answer. That’s why I always thought that troll was too good a name for the kind of liberal talking point spewers that we get here. They are more like parrots. They can form the words, but they only have the dimmest understanding, if any, of what they mean. Otherwise they could defend them.

  41. LC has a point. I don’t agree with Obama’s bill and I think they had better throw it out. His tactics are what worries me. However, the best rated health care systems in the world at the present time are a blend of private and public health care providers. I don’t think that anyone here can dispute that the best systems use some of both.
I don’t know why we waste time arguing over what is better, American or Canadian health care. Neither is worth very much. The best has both styles. That being said, I’ve never heard of Americans coming to Canada to receive healthcare and I’ve heard a lot about Canadians going to America. If America publicizes its health care, where will Canadians have to go? So if we’re going to debate who’s system is marginally better, I’d say the US because at least there’s access to it.
But what I see is that LC was just pointing out that a system with only private health care sucks and a system with only public health care also sucks. This is before they got all defensive from being attacked.

  42. Fast, good and cheap.
If you want it fast and good (US system), it ain’t going to be cheap.
If you want it good and cheap (Canadian monopoly system), it ain’t going to be fast (think waiting lines).
If you want it fast and cheap, it ain’t going to be good.
    Those are our choices.
