Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
July 6th – “San Ramon, California-based Chevron has dismissed 100 construction workers and other contractors since July 2 and plans to send another 900 home by the end of August after Contra Costa County Superior Judge Barbara Zuniga last month ruled the environmental permit covering the project was inadequate. “
July 17th – “On Wednesday, authorities shut down most of the operations of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the largest court system in the country […] Presiding Judge Charles McCoy said he was forced to take the step in anticipation of a 138-million-dollar funding shortfall for the fiscal year that began this month. “
h/t Adam B.

Yeah. But are the construction workers still getting paid like the “honourable” justices undoubtly are? Nevermind.Rhetorical Q.
Shoot themselves in foot. Reload. Repeat. I believe that I also read they are going to let a lot of felons out of prison early because of overcrowding. So, no judges working and lots of criminals on the street. Sounds like a recipe for perfect harmony to me!
no one really cares.
The judge forgets whose tax dollars pay her salary – those newly unemployed construction workers. But that’s ok, the planet will be saved from the human virus.
Why would anyone care? Obama’s here.
Doesnt a person being charged with a crime in the US have the right to a speedy trial?
Like being in front of a judge within 24 hours of being charged ?
The rebellion in the streets is starting to look closer and closer
Yes, well, we know where that’s going to end up:
Detroit, 2009:
“Low-priority crimes like breaking and entering might not be prosecuted…”

Didn’t Ontario have those socialist holidays back in the day….Rae days.
Syncro
with recent court judgements, better to lay-em-off!
catch and release, who needs judges?
The July 17th link cites 100,000 people passing thru the 600 court room each day. That’s 166.6 people a day (I’m assuming LA has creatures that constitute 0.6 of a person…) With that kind of throughput, it reminds me of the sitcom “night court”
Somehow I do not feel sorry for them. That is what they get for continually electing morons to their legislature.
McCoy? Jack McCoy?
isn’t he the chap from Law & Order?
LOL !!!!
seems EVERYTHING coming out of california is entertainment worthy not just the rehashed story lines from hollywood.
Now if California would only bring in legislation preventing industries from moving their headquarters out of state (they could call it the “Corporate Assistance Bill”), we would have a full-blown Ayn Rand novel.
When I say “tax cut now please”, this is the kind of result I envision, but on a more pervasive scale with less disruption.
It is hard for Judge Barbara Zuniga to screw over 1000 people when she has no courtroom, no lackeys, and no paycheck.
Starve them out.
Well, Holy Cow. If I understand this, the court system that shut down a substantial source of funds is now shut down due to a lack of funds!

I think this was a reference to The Real McCoy. But, then, what do I know.
Hey, I am libertarian, and delight to see the reduxction of “government”. I notice the California State Bureaucracy uis following the norms of government reduction: Cut those part that hurt the piopulace most; protect those parts i.e. the bureaucrats, that have least impact on the populace.
Keep stocking up on ammo.
Than pray a revolution is mostly peacefull.
As I’ve said before, these lefties are incapable of rational thought. 2 + 2 will never equal 4 to them. Its any number they want in delusion land.
This is why they will never see how insane their decisions are. Its not reason, its emotion that matter to nut root tyrants.
As another piece of California craziness:
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2009/07/eff-to-ca-metered-auto-insurance-is-still-a-slippery-slope.ars
California is now considering “Pay As You Drive” car insurance. If you don’t drive much, you won’t pay as much; if you drive a lot, you pay more.
Some people are fighting this because they think the insurance companies will gather the information electronically using GPS, and then sell it to other companies; others are objecting on privacy issues. My issue is if you don’t drive very much, like the proverbial little old lady, aren’t you more likely to be a worse driver? I mean, does anyone get worse at something by practicing it more? Must be more of that left coast reasoning.
BTW, the article also states that there is a variant of “Pay As You Drive” in Ontario. I’ve been driving in Ontario for nearly 40 years, and I’ve never heard of this option. Anyone else?
Sounds like karma to me.
The last thing you should cut in times of budget trouble are the basic services required of government: law enforcement and the legal system. These are why we have government to protect us from others and to punish those who do harm us. All the other stuff is superficial – and more expensive.
Have no fear, Obumma will bail out CalEfornia by running the printing presses and creating more funny money. All a calculated plan to bring America down and replace it with Amerika.

Ummmmm.Very true,Malishious,but obviously,you have very little life experience with lefties! If it ain’t about feelings,rainbows,unicorns,and hopey-dopey change,it doesn’t count.
He’s a judge, for heaven’s sake. Why doesn’t he charge everybody involved with contempt of court?
The crisis in California is an interesting one. From past crises they have brought forth some pretty significant politicians most notably Reagan and ahnold.
Let’s see who the Cali GOP brings forward this time.
Looks like the only jobs that are safe from the “stimulus” are pressmen at the U. S. Federal Reserve. The money machines are running 24/7.
