Photoblogging

I visited Chicago this past weekend to photograph an annual event I strive to attend every year. The Obama Center was not on my Top 100 list of places I wanted to visit, but my friends wanted to go, so I joined them. When it comes to photography, I’m completely agnostic. Here are a few photos of this “unusual” structure:

  1. Post-Soviet brutalist architecture. Or as I call it, dystopian architecture. Suiting look for the 8 year Obama nuclear winter.

  2. Love the ‘natural’ landscape … which makes the building look old and derelict on its grand opening.

    1. Hahaha ha … no Obama fan could even walk from the parking lot to the Teddy Library … let alone take the trail loop and drink in the unspoiled landscape. Yeah … THAT’s the way to do – Natural.

Nah, the Obama fans will be ordering TWO sides of the $5.00 fries.

    1. I’m old enough to remember when ex Presidents retired to their ranches, disappeared, and shut the fkcu up

  3. L – This legacy building looks so Stalinesque.

The Obama family chilli uses turkey, rather than ground beef. Because beef is so working class, blue collar, so red blooded American and that ain’t them.

  4. This is a non-partisan issue. Any president who thinks it’s appropriate to waste millions and millions on nothing more than a monument to personal hubris is unserious and ridiculous. Democrats and Republicans alike.

They should have paid more attention to Calvin Coolidge who didn’t build a library to display all is “goodness” to the world for their appreciation. Instead, he found a public library not run by the Federal Government. The Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum is located on the second floor of the Forbes Library in Northampton, Massachusetts. Anyone can visit. No federal funding. No state funding. And, get this….it actually looks like a library. Books and everything.

    1. Went with my brother. Interesting for its modesty, quotations and historical artefacts –Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library on the second floor of the Forbes Library in Northampton.

  5. I’m not sure which of those statues I’d want to urinate on the most: Barry or Big Mike? Prolly 50/50…

    1. Well, Big Mike is wearing a dress. So here’s a chance for a sleuth to find out the truth.

  6. It lacks a crenellated top … from where Obama’s conscripts (read: slaves) can fire the slings and arrows of their outrageous fortunes. Fraudulently obtained fortunes.

  7. The mooselimbs are happy; they now have a building from which they can teach pride parade participants to fly.

  8. Many of the Black contractors (yeah, you knew they would be insisting on Black-owned businesses getting first crack at construction contracts, right?) who worked on the building are suing for *millions* in unpaid invoices. Companies are on the verge of bankruptcy because of it.

  9. That last pic is too grainy too determine if the restaurant menu is halal. Anyone?

  10. Those are good photos, you bring out the best in that building – and it does have some merit. Works better as a Gulag memorial than as a presidential legacy but hell, it ain’t my legacy.
