A year ago last June an unidentified woman showed up at a Senior Frogs in Puerto Vallarta and proceeded to party with the tourists; by the time she left, seven men were without their wallets and, in two cases, without their watches. This woman with a vaguely eastern European accent went by the name “Jane from Saskatchewan.” I mention this incident only because it raises serious, unanswered questions: is Kate McMillan complicit in the thefts? Was “Jane” sent to Mexico with Kate’s authority, or was “Jane” only pretending to be from Saskatchewan? The lawyers for the men who lost their wallets say either scenario presents a problem for McMillan, who has so far not responded to repeated requests for answers.
A strikingly similar story was reported on the February 5th broadcast of The National. “Who…” intoned Mansbridge, “is ‘Sarah the Canadian’? The story, he explained, “centers on the last British resident held at Guantanamo Bay. Was he brutally tortured, and did a Canadian play a role in the mistreatment alleged to have taken place? Adrienne Arsenault reports.”
Photo of a bearded man. Arsenault: “Binyam Mohamed, the last British resident held at Guantanomo Bay. There are serious questions here about the torture he says he endured in US custody. Americans have the answers, and won’t share, threatening to withhold future intelligence from Britain if evidence about his treatment is released here.” A British MP is shown expressing his concern, and then Arsenault gets to the point of the story: “But is Canada complicit too? Mohamed claims that when he was arrested in Pakistan in 2002 he was flown to Morocco and interrogated. After refusing to talk to the Americans, he said they brought in a third-party intermediary, someone who said she was ‘Sarah the Canadian.'”
Mohammed’s lawyer (“who spoke to CBC News exclusively“) is shown reading from Mohammed’s diary: “On August 6, 2002, Sarah said ‘if you don’t talk to me, then the Americans are getting ready to torture you, to carry out the torture. They’re going to electrocute you, beat you, and rape you.'” A jumble of words, including “American,” “Moroccan” and “interrogation” shift about onscreen, as Arsenault says “Binyam Mohamed says ‘Sarah’ the ‘Canadian’ returned repeatedly, warning him to talk, then left him to be tortured…” (now most of the words onscreen fade out, as “Sarah the Canadian” and “the Canadian” swell into the foreground) “…that included hundreds of cuts on his genitals…”
Darn those pseudonymous, unidentified women abroad of unknown nationality who reflect so poorly on our current government. And yet, there *was* one wee little detail left out of the report: Binyam Mohamed says he doesn’t believe the woman was actually a Canadian.
Arsenault left that detail aside in the interests of pressing on: “So: IF what he’s saying is true, then who’s ‘Sarah the Canadian’? Was she really a Canadian? Was she sent with the authority of the government, or was she really pretending to be a Canadian? Binyam Mohammad’s lawyers say ANY of those scenarios presents a problem for Canada… Security experts seem to agree: even if someone pretended to be Canadian, the concerns don’t go away.” Thomas Quiggin of Carleton University: “Canada’s reputation is on the line…”
Arsenault: “Even though Binyam Mohamed’s lawyers say they asked Canadian officials about Sarah’s identity, they never received a reply.”
By the time of the following night’s National, the story had grown serious barnacles on the Conservatives’ hull. Anchor Wendy Mesley: “Last night we told you about ‘Sarah the Canadian’, an unidentified woman who allegedly plated a role in the mistreatment of a suspected terrorist…. While Mohamed says he doesn’t believe the woman was Canadian…his claims raised questions today in the House of Commons.” NDP MP Paul Dewar: “Can the government confirm whether she was acting with the authority of the Canadian government? And what actions has the government taken to ensure that Canada’s reputation has not been damaged…”
Mesley wrapped up with these words: “Today Mohamed’s lawyer says while at Guantanamo his client was interrogated by another woman called ‘Fifi’ who also claimed to be Canadian.”
Thanks a billion, CBC.

Being force fed Big Macs and super-size fries is clearly beyond the pale. Oh, the humanity
Those cuts are really stretch marks from his expanding self. Would you like an apple pie with that?
brutally tortured as in made to clean up the
pi ss that they did all over the floor of their own cells. called naughty names. listening to a whining Omar Khadr cry “you dont care about me”
come on CBCpravda , you seem to have details linking non canadians to the HarperBushMcchimpyHitler “Regime” how about some details
A real Canadian would have said his name was “Mike from Canmore”
So……….. by tuning in to the Corp, one admits to either being liberal, (a thought crime in and of itself), or to wanting to watch obscene material in the form of pro-liberal or pro-terrorist propaganda, and by doing so, sends material and monetary support to liberals and terrorists.
I haven’t watched the CBC, including Saturday night hockey since I worked the first Joe Who campaign, (and I didn’t like Joe or Brian particularly), but after seeing the partisan crap piled on conservatives by the CBC, I have voted with my body parts, and refused to turn to the Corp for ANYTHING since.
Being consistent, if nothing else, I also now refuse to watch Global news in any form as well, and usually turn off CTV or leave the room grumbling about liberal propaganda when my wife insists.
Ian, because taxpayers — including Conservative and other non-Liberal voters — are on the hook for a cool billion a year, it’s important to *watch* the CBC, if you catch my drift.
You can buy a lot of anti-Conservative “ads” for a billion dollars.
With files from The Onion?
Since the appearance of the mysterious Sarah occured during the Chretien years (or was it the Martin months?) the CBC won’t make much of a fuss.
Wouldn’t want to put communication sinecures in a possible future Ignatieff PMO at risk.
it makes me think “who’s interests does the CBC represent”? themselves? as an unofficial opposition lobby?
and I hope EBD partook of some sort of “cleanse” after exposing himself to the CBC like that.
Just another day in the world of making up things that sound like news because the real stuff is just too much work.
Perhaps the economy will become an excuse for actually doing something about cutting the Ceeb off from the public tit?
What’s really sad is that it isn’t journalism, it doesn’t inform, etc etc blah blah
It’s just a bunch of allegations. Stupid for the CBC to put that on as a story.
I have no idea how “journalism” works now. Do the anchors just show up and read teleprompters? Do they participate and vet the stories?
“NDP MP Paul Desar [sic]: ‘Can the government confirm whether she was acting with the authority of the Canadian government? And what actions has the government taken to ensure that Canada’s reputation has not been damaged…'”
Oh dearie me, please say it isn’t so!
Surely there must be some way to stop naughty people in other countries from pretending they’re Canadians?
Let’s get a UN Anti-Bogus-Canadian convention
signed!
Lord, there seems to be no limit to our self-indulgent and naive view of the rest of the world and how it works.
There are reports the CBC has committed a transgression by claiming the title “Canadian” in the name. This implies, noted an insider that they represent a consensus of Canadians. Critics have claimed Commie or Broad Corp would be more appropriate to the image it projects. Jack Layton stated. $As it is the Commie BC I should have more time.$ The assorted Feminist groups do not find the word Broad acceptable even though it was claimed it was short for broadcasting. Finally after a Senate inquiry and intense lobbying we have yet to pay for it shall be called the Constantly Brewing Consternation.
EBD- Watching the CBC just because we’re on the hook for billions a year is the same as installing a toilet cam to watch hemorrhoids bleed.
Keep in mind that all cable and satellite boxes are interactive, and can and do record your watching preferences. I make a point of tuning in FoxNews before turning off the TV, so turning it on gets another hit.
Thanks JJM — corrected now.
Someone should come up with a keypad on which the letters are at least one foot apart from each other.
“hundreds of cuts on his genitals.”
Arabs must be better endowed than we suspect.
at least he hasnt had his removed like his female counterparts.
Mohamed alleges he was beaten and cut with razor blades, including hundreds of times on his genitals, while he was held.
Again with the genital mutilation. Do these guys sit around having fantasizes about there neither regions being subjected to abuse by Canadian girls called, Sarah & FiFi? Is this there idea of making love?
After Arar it now looks like they all want a free bit of cash from the always submissive Canadian government from your tax dollars to this terrorist . Mo like his names sake is having hallucinations. Seems to be a genetic trait.
Although Kate could be the mysterious spy master. Forcing these prisoners to wear female panties. Maybe be forced to eat pork or share the cell with a German Sheppard. A mean mutant large German Sheppard.
Canadians are suckers, with the CBC the biggest mark of all. There going to end up with heart attacks, looking for dirt on Conservatives where no man has gone before. I will not weep to see their heads roll supporting enemies for crass political bias.
The only thing that surprises me about this, is that we haven’t taken them all in from Gitmo at the expense of our safety to Canada. The press in collusion with the immigration department would love this. After all Canada is not for Canadians anymore. That has been made pretty clear as even school priciples now distain this Land. Its becoming the same in the USA under Obama. Our own governments are at war with their citizens.
JMO
I give credit to his legal team for trying all available defences….you know it is the kind of thing that happens in a free and fair system.
They have news on CBC? I wouldn’t know, I haven’t watched it in years and years.
The mere fact the Ceeb goofs are taking seriously a guy who claims “hundreds of cuts” to his whatsit tells me I haven’t been missing anything. Sounds like one of those “does this look normal to you?” jokes.
Whip it out on coast-to-coast TV buddy. Lemme see them hundreds of scars. Then maybe I’ll think about the whole concept of the CBC/Lefties not being a bunch of lying swine.
Ian Vaughn…gee you mean we don’t have to watch CBC if we change the channels?.. ya learn something new everyday.
So no accountability again for shoddy journalism, our taxes pay for it.
I don’t watch CBC by choice either. But I would for once like to see them raked over the coals, perhaps even in the HoC for their laziness and bull.Let them be writers for the Enquirer.
So, does Wendy Mesley have an alibi for the times of the torture crimes?
The ultimate semantic analysis test of Sarah’s alleged Canadian-ness: Did she add “,eh?” at the end of all her sentences?
CBC- Canadian Broadcrapping Castration
“All the News That’s Fit to Make Up/Distort.”
Now here’s your hosts Peter Manhole and Windy Measley, with exclusive reports from the insufferable Kneel macDonaldDuck, Keith Booger and Julie van Douchebag.
Stay tunned.
EBD: Thank you for watching and reporting. I find myself imagining the obligatory dark and brooding synthesizer music. Was there some?
Nope, I won’t watch CBC either. Forget when I gave it up. The mockumentary on Stockwell Day’s religious beliefs (which weren’t Islam)? OR, the beaming journos telling me at 6pm that the Liberals had won — seconds after our BC polls had closed?
Mind you I don’t watch ANY TV current affairs, including FOX. I can’t take the shouting matches.
If we all watched CBC (because we’re paying for it) wouldn’t that improve its ratings which in turn might bolster its argument against a reduction in funding.
I might be persuaded to watch if I ever came to feel that my constructive feedback would be taken into account. But at the moment I think CBC watching is unhealthy.
Watching CBC is pure phychological “TORTURE” by the libs and dippers.
Ah, first Jane, then Sarah and now a mysterious FBI agent who used sexual torture??? in India.
When will these nefarious plots and inhumanity against Muslims ever end?
When will the CHRC, Barbie Doll Hall, “Lucy”, the “Lying Jackel” intercede to save all of humanity?
Poodles next?
You know they may be onto something here. Kate says she is away at a dog show again, but is she really? Could she just be using this as cover to travel the world and tickle the genitals of the terrorists in the hopes of getting them to spill their dreadful crimes.
We were born at night, but not last night, Kates so called dog show trips would be the perfect cover for this kind of clandestine operation.
When you look at the facts everything lines up, The suspected woman is a woman, Kate is a woman. The suspect is Canadian, Kate is a Canadian.
Congratulations to the CBC for their excellent investigative powers, they unwittingly solved another Canadian terrorist plot against the peaceful and moderate peoples of Terrorland.
Even a broken clock is correct twice every 24 hours. So, maybe the CBC occasionally gets something right on one of its “news” or public affairs programs, but, like the clock, that would be a fluke.
On advice from a friend, I gave up CBC for Lent one year. It’s one of the best things I ever did and was really easy: penitence-wise, I probably scored no points! Also, I never took it up again.
My life’s not entirely stress free, but minus the CBC, the relief is considerable.
“…all cable and sattelite boxes are interactive, and can and do record your watching preferences.” Ian Vaughan, 1:19PM
They ARE? Then why do they send out those stupid surveys?
Don’t watch the CBC. It only encourages them.
Saskboys Homeboy: I like to believe that Kate is really a Mossad agent. She’s too good for CSIS.
Don’t tell me our bleeding heart govt is going to cut this asshole a cheque also!
I think Sarah the Canadian is really Sarah Palin ,the evil Bush loving neo con posing as Canadian while playing good cop/bad cop. Thank God for the CBC. I think FiFi is also Palin pretending to be french because she knew that Canada is a bilingual country oh how clever these neo cons are. Must go polish my tinfoil hat ,helps with my CBC reception!
“Must go polish my tinfoil hat ,helps with my CBC reception!”
lol, awesome!
“Can the government confirm whether she was acting with the authority of the Canadian government.”
My sarcastic response to that would be along the lines of ‘She who? An alleged terrorist says he doesn’t believe “Sarah the Canadian” is even Canadian. So with no name or picture of this “Canadian woman”, why are we even talking about this..’
Why doesn’t anyone use common sense to smack down these idiots with their sensationalist questions about nothing?
Oh geez!
Don’t mess Kate’s name up with all of this, next thing you know w(k)hinny-boy will whip up a lawsuit to claim $$$ on behalf of ALL terrorists hurt feelings and threat to their manhood and blah blah blah. I’m sure he’ll promise to donate to a ‘terrorist supporting charity’ of his choice, a portion of the proceeds, er, settlement/judgement.
cbc -pffh- never bother with any of their crap, garbage in, garbage out.
Sounds much like the leftards verbiage that they spew everywhere.
“…Islamic Law will be imposed in a part of Pakistan’s North West Frontier province (NWFP) as part of a peace deal with the Taliban.”
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7893042.stm
Gee … you don’t suppose that the CeeB thought it sounded like Sarah Palin ….. ??
You know like rhymes with!
So the story they want to spread is Sarah Palin tortured prisoners at Gitmo….!!
Right??
“We are all Sarah the Canadaian!!!”
There that’ll get CBC and the Dippers confused.
Inspired by lookout, I plan to give up banging my head against walls for Lent this year.
Sounds like a complete load of you know what. It seems they are gearing up to receive another 12 million in fake torture money. No suprise the CBC is on the case, facilitating. The public needs to buy a truckers wallet, one with a big chain on it.
This brings up two points:
1. This story also jarred in my head, and I wondered why the CBC was so down on Canadians.
2. Kate Of Saskatchewan still hasn’t yet accepted my offer of marriage.
JJM at February 16, 2009 1:15 PM
Let’s get a UN Anti-Bogus-Canadian convention
signed!
Not much chance of that. We are in the bad books of the UN Human Rights Commission.
Ian Vaughan at February 16, 2009 1:19 PM
Keep in mind that all cable and satellite boxes are interactive, and can and do record your watching preferences.>/i>
Not true. I am an electronic engineer and at various times have worked on different types of Set Top Boxes. The “Return Channel” (as it is known in the jargon) is very expensive and usually done by telephone land-line, if at all.
Here’s the deal, CBC, just pull this moron’s pants
down and get the one of the most ridiculous parts of Mohamed’s story vetted before you air it. Finding “Fifi” is futile unless you are looking in a dog pound. Real simple. Responsible journalism. It’s what we internetcentric people demand nowadays. It’s why you are morons and we aren’t. It’s why if you were privatized you’d be the same road kill as the NYT’s.

Likely a close inspection would reveal that to get hundreds of cuts it would be micro-surgery…….
What burns my butt is somehow that that “Friends of CBC” got my e-mail and they keep asking for my support for their blatant LIBRANO bias…….
Tell me who was in power in Canada on August 6, 2002 again. It seems the media can’t remember.
Or more to the point, this is YET ANOTHER instance of finding “new” information not available when it was the Liberals who were in power.
I picked this up from the text.
“Who… intoned Mansbridge is “Sarah the Canadian”?
I have not heard that particular word very often lately. I remember a discredited psychic, a Mr Hurkos, who wrongly fingered a poor man for a crime. “Hurkos intoned” in a sepulcheral voice.
I used Google for “Mansbridge intoned…..” Seems that four other sites have quoted Mr Mansbridge as intoning.
We seem to get quite a lot of Mr Mansbridge. More power to him. I always get the impression he has a distinct way of imparting his intonations. He cannot disguise his absolute partiality in certain things.
More President Obama and more President Obama. Someone is going to freeze out there. (Chuckle).
