Quick Links

Things are pretty busy around here, what with deadline work and a large signage order to get out before Christmas. The inbox is brimming with your tips and links, unfortunately time doesn’t allow me to follow them up, but here are a few that caught my eye –
Let them fail. “Auto Industry Bailout Would Reward Irrational Business Behaviour”
Be sure they take the UAW with them. Black Lake Golf Course
A NP Flashback – Rethinking the Reserve
In Afghanistan, an air of hope.
Good material in them all, and little of it covered by the Doomsday Shoe Media.

  1. Looks like as good a place to mention this as any…
This AM’s mail included a copy of the Saskatchewan Book of Everything by Kelly-Ann Riess
Well not quite everything. I poked around its pages for a mention of SDA and have come up empty.
May I suggest you make offer a “correction” page? A nice photo with a floating type link might be good enough. She’s big on grain silos….
The trim size of this edition is 6 7/8 inches high by a nominal 5 inches.

  2. When people go to jail, they look for someone to bail them out.
Here we’re bailing out a pile of people, company and union big wigs and even politicians. They aren’t in jail but they should be.

“”Reporters, as I understand reporters, are supposed to report facts,”Deming said. “What he’s doing here is he’s writing a polemic and reporting it as fact, and that’s not right. It’s not reporting. It’s propaganda.
“This reads like a press release for an environmental advocacy group like Greenpeace. It’s not fair and balanced.”
A spokesman for the Associated Press said that the news agency stands by its story. “It’s a news story, based on fact and the clearly expressed views of President-elect Barack Obama and others,” spokesman Paul Colford told FOXNews.com in an e-mail.”

  4. “Cut tax or risk jobs, banks say”
MP Harper & Finance Minister Flaherty told Ontario Liberal-socialist McGuinty this months ago.
PM Harper and Minister Flaherty were derided, castigated; all but tarred’n’feathered by the Liberals and its ally, the MSM.
Now, the banks/TORedStar are saying it.

“Cut tax or risk jobs, banks say”
“Canada’s banks have issued a veiled warning to the government of Ontario – cut corporate taxes or risk losing high-paying financial sector jobs to other jurisdictions.
The Canadian Bankers Association – which represents 51 domestic and foreign banks – is telling Ontario in a carefully worded pre-budget submission to cut corporate taxes in its next budget. It argues that tax cuts are necessary to boost the province’s productivity, which is key to preserving a high standard of living and “a large number of high-quality, high-paying jobs.”
The association is asking Queen’s Park to reduce its corporate income tax rate to 10 per cent from its current level of 14 per cent.”

  5. Now, if the government would give every tax payer a percentage of the money they plan for the auto companies, we would have a wonderful Christmas. Think of it, we could all buy a new car, spend on gifts, maybe even buy some Nortel stocks. This would defintely help the economy, the car companies could put employees back to work, the stores won’t go in the red, and Nortel wouldn’t have to go into bankruptcy. The citizens would be so enamoured with this government it would ensure a majority next time. Besides, the money came from us and belongs to us. Maybe we should start a petition.
But no, they will give the money to these companies to spend which ever way they see fit and will be back with their handout in 6 months, no better off and no worse for wear.
My brother took a buyout. He worked 10 years for an auto co. received $85,000. plus a voucher for a new car. All this and was able to start drawing his retirement money immediately at the age of 55. Smart fellow he got another job.

  6. Here’s a good one:

With “depression” in the link even….
“OTTAWA — Prime Minister Stephen Harper was accused yesterday of exacerbating the economic downturn by spreading pessimism when he should be taking a leadership role by disbursing hope.
Mr. Harper, who said in a television interview on Monday that he has never seen such uncertainty about the future, came under fire for giving in to fear at a time when Canadians need their Prime Minister to offer a more positive outlook – both to relieve anxiety and to keep consumers spending.”
So let me get this straight, before he was being far to rosy, and not dealing with the issue, and now he’s amplifying the problem by talking about it?
    Get it right folks.

  7. Allan, there was also this one from the Toronto G&M: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20081217.EHARPER17/TPStory/Comment
I was just on Roy Green’s show (guest hosting for Charles Adler) asking whether the MSM would have EVER demanded that Trudeau or Chretien do the same. Of course not!
This is but Stage 1 in a multi-step process for the MSM (aka the Liberal Party of Toronto’s PR wing) to do as much as they can to destroy Harper and prop up Ignatieff.
