  2. I started calling them the “Coalition of Losers” yesterday afternoon. However, this banal name I will abandon for something much more visceral should they attain what they seek.

  3. So many good names to choose from!
    It is remarkable (and dare I say rather enjoyable) to watch the libs lose their minds because they no longer have absolute control.
    This is a party that is utterly entrenched with the idea that they are the only ones who are allowed to govern. This is a party that feels it deserves, *just by its existence*, a full set of entitlements. This is a party that has been so determined to govern that it has not hesitated to brainwash an entire generation of Canadians, starting as young as 5 years old, into believing that the Liberal Way is how all Canadians *must* think.
    Their deep-rooted self-righteousness and arrogance is being exposed for all the world to see. The liberal fat cats are going berserk from hunger now that the trough has been taken away.
    It is immensely satisfying to see, and a very good thing for Canada.
    And when you hear Ignatieff speak you know that his way of thinking is no different to all the arrogant liberals that have came before him. And so hopefully he too will be washed away in the change.

  6. OT: looking at all of the Un-Scientific poll eg: ctv,gm sun cfra etc..re the recent events on the Hill i would say that a Very Clear Message is being sent from Canadians they are Not going to stand Idley By and have this happen
    And if the Opposition do Over Throw The Recently Elected Government You can Kiss your So call Entitled A**’S goodbye.
    The Prime Minister made a very Strong Statement last nite on these recent events.

  11. Eastern Paul, I don’t think we can expect anything assertive from the GG. The situation is dissimilar to the King-Byng Affair (http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Params=A1ARTA0004313)
    and therefore she has not a clear precedent to allow her to make a decision out side of the “will of parliament.” If the conservatives lose the confidence vote and the Coalition of Losers can demonstrate an effective government alternative to her, then she is obligated to the elected Parliament to bend to its will…
    Of course, I could be completely wrong.

  13. I was thinking Bloc-GTA.
    With the idealogical extremism of the NDP and the venality of the Liberals there could be some short term changes coming down the pike. The Liberals crave power so desparately they will likely give into every on of Jack and Gille’s demands. Most of these are gleaned from the MSM:
    1. Immediate withdrawal from Afghanistan (on of Layton’s reported conditions).
    2. Another reported condition would be the cancelling of 50 billion in business tax cuts (TSX drops 1500-2000 points, C$=70 cents U.S.)
    3. A move to hobble/tax Alberta’s oilsands which are already in poor shape due to oil prices.
    4. A green tax on the electricity bills of Alberta, Sask, and Martimes to be transferred to Quebec (a possible Duceppe demand)
    5. Stephane Dion representing Canada on the world stage.
    The long term good news:
    It probably wouldn’t last long. This hyper-left coalition would leave acres of political real estate in the center for the conservatives to claim. There could even be floor crossings by Liberals from the maritimes and non-GTA Ontario. A Conservative majority is likely to follow from the current voter base being beefed up by an influx of refugees from the blue wing of the Liberal party.
    Fasten your seat belts.

  17. Talking to a business owner friend – he said they would start a movement amongst businesses to withold all federal taxes to Ottawa if this happened since it would be treasonous to give money to a government controlled by separtists who want to destroy our country.
    I say all provinces should do the same thing. These guys are screeching about their own tax payer teat entitlements. Imagine when the whole country starts screaming just like them.
    I sense that Dion has been plotting this for some time now behind closed doors. The Liberals and NDP have not put forward any constructive ideas in cooperation with the government’s plans to help the country during this tough time. Apparently the BLOC has and was thanked profusely in the house for being part of the solutions.
    I really think Dion has a mental illness of the sort that will not allow him to be a “loser” and he will take down this country and all of this just to PROVE he can be the boss.

  18. When I came to your site this morning and read “An attack of this nature cannot be thrown together overnight” I honestly thought I was reading about the prospective Dion-Layton Dictatorship!
    Clearly I’m hoping this does not transpire but just in case, I already have a bumper sticker prepared. Feel free to link to it if you wish!
    And do listen to Roy Green’s show today @ 11am PDT / 2pm EDT (www.cknw.com) as I’m SURE he’ll be discussing it. Unlike many other pundits, Roy is not a sycophant for the Liberal Party machine.

    Wasn’t Iggy the Liberal Deputy Leader .. and now he is nothing .. not even considered for a ministry in a Dion-Layton coalition government .. all because he is running for the Liberal leadership due in May’09???
    Perhaps Iggy & Bobo should unequivocally declare their fealty to Dion as Liberal leader and next Prime Minister of Canada … and declare that the Liberal leadership is competently filled for the foreseeable future.

  33. We can all have fun coming up with names for this so-called coalition, however …. the thought of these greedy, entitled fools calling the shots in Ottawa is frightening, to say the least. With people of this calibre running the show, how long before Canada joins in the recession? How long will it take to clean up the mess that they will invariably create? If this unholy alliance becomes reality, the outlook is very bleak indeed.

  35. marshall – it would never happen. If they did that it would mean the end of one of those parties. Might be a good thing though. It would bring us closer to what they have in the USA.
    The Three Little Pig Parties had better think this one over very carefully. A solid 2/3 of Canadians do not want to see this happen. If they do it there will be hell to pay and part of that will be a definite rise in Western sentiment of alienation strenghtening the case for a separate West. I love my country but some easterners are really pissing me off these days.
