Why do I need to explain?
I got your “lol”.
????
And yes that IS my IMHO style of commenting.
I’m not responsible for your feelings, you are.
Otherwise I do not ‘get’ what you’re now going on about.
This medium is not the best at communication and posters do need to consider that. All the regular non verbal cues are also not present, the subtle movements of expression on the face, the tone of the voice, and etc.
More should realize this instead of assuming a defensive position. Some of us communicate way better verbally and maybe some are also trying to learn to be concise with our written words, have patience please.
Be surprised how the rancor goes down with straight forward questions instead of smears, jabs, attacks and thus giving leftards and media alike the ammo to shoot us all down with. Again.
“Why do I need to explain?”
You don’t have to do anything. But I didn’t get your point. Hense the REQUEST to explain what the dig was about – if in fact it was a dig.
As per the “lol” issue, that was under the “AtlanticJim” part of my post. It was not directed at you.
Just re-read the whole thread and my take on 10:53.
Lets just say, I recognize misplaced defensiveness -IMHO and leave it at that.
I don’t hunt, but if I did, my weapon of choice would be to use a leftard as a club.
Kentucky windage, Kate?
Oh how stupid of me!
The wind never blows in Sask.
Warwick: “shooting your dog is not the same as shooting your next meal”
How so? In other countries they do in fact eat dogs. How is it not the same? Does the moose feel it less than the dog? Does it deserve death more? Please explain.
Oh and Kate: people who write on their own widdle blogs “I rule” generally don’t …rule…except maybe in their own minds…
M’kay?
“On way back to the truck at the end of the day, decided to check the area out again and there was the same buck sitting in the same area.”
Well, duh.
The reason it took a half hour to bag the first doe, is that it takes that long to walk there.
By the way, “real”, the only person I know of who still uses the insipid “m’kay” is a slovenly neurotic Floridian known for squatting on First Nations reserves so that she can qualify for free Canadian medicare.
Only a half hour to bag the first doe?
Tough go.
Hope you enjoy hearty roasts, juicy steaks and many great meals from your efforts Kate.
O/T
Sorry Warwick for an obvious misunderstanding on my part above. Seems I’m also affected with the O effect. 🙁 -esh!
I ate so much deer growing up, I don’t like it much any more. I remember almost 50 years ago, getting up early with my dad. We went to the shed with a big knife, and he sliced some thin steaks off the hanging deer. A cast iron frying pan, and some butter, and it seemed like things were as they should be. I still remember that smell like it was yesterday.
My dad hunted for survival, it was that or steal. He’d usually go for a head shot to save on spoilage. The 22 was his favourite weapon because the shells were cheap. As I got old enough to hunt, things began to change. My dad didn’t teach me how to hunt, because he wanted me to have a different life than he had. Well, he got his wish, but I almost feel cheated sometimes. I’ve hunted, and killed deer, but it’s always felt like I’m out of my element. I feel unworthy to take part in the big hunt.
I’m glad when I see that people are keeping the tradition alive. Who knows, maybe I’ll get back into it one of these years. The deer population is at least 5 times what it was 35 years ago when I started hunting. At least it is in the maritimes, where I grew up. No one down there shoots them anymore. They really are getting to be pests.
Connecting the dots:

Ok, pain’s lower, I’ll give it a try, in this country we hunt wild game; then we partake of it’s bounty of nourishing food for us. In my neck of the woods the left over ‘remains’ are sent to those in the market, antlers, hides, hooves, etc. Actually little is ‘garaged’ and sometimes a lucky large dog or two, gets a large leg joint to chew on for a few days.
We do not eat captive dogs from cages, nor do I believe do we eat dogs period, equating the two is simple minded.
By the way, young moose steak is one of the finest meat I’ve ever tasted.
Although reindeer roast is a close second.
We also eat buffalo, wapiti, beef, pork, chicken, fish, seafood and etc, wanna go and inventory their ‘feelings’?
Could be a good job for a MSM journalist though; “Here, little shrimpy shrimpy – how do you feel about being human food?” …
Oh dear, you’re about to be cooked!
Has this ever happened to you before?”
Be sure to send in the clip with the moose’s take on things, will ‘ya?
Now as many of you know, I am a VietNam vet and
I have killed my share of men. Kate’s deer story
reminds me of the time I had to go mano y mano
against a siberian tiger somewhere south of the
DMZ. To make a long story short, lets just say
It was a bit touch and go for awhile. Still, Kate
has killed like a champion and I for one find
the thought of kate covered in steaming blood
and offal stirring in a way most carnal.
Oh, a mother, well, let’s just let all the stops and rules and integrity out because somebody decided to breed with no consideration as whether that would be in the best interest of the child.
