Groundhog Day

Someone wake me up when this thing finally ends. In the meantime, any ideas out there as to how this script will be wrapped up?

President Donald Trump on social media accused Iran of violating the ceasefire and warned of a point where the U.S. may no longer be reasonable “and will be forced to militarily complete the job.”

“If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!” Trump wrote.

The exchanges of fire began when an Iranian drone struck a merchant vessel off Oman on Thursday and the U.S. military retaliated with strikes.

  1. This tit for tat waiting game must end, now. Trump has tried to spare Iran’s infrastructure, but with their fractured leadership, agreements, MOUs and negotiations with one group mean nothing to another. These murdering assholes know lost power means they’re dead meat, so will never give in. Take them all out, now. End the ceasefire, finish the job, take out these creeps, who still think they get to control the Strait, once and for all. Let the fully taste defeat. Engage the ME powers to get it done. Iranian pricks know only power and death. Attack their infrastructure, as Clinton did in the Balkans and Libya, with a sustained summer long bombing campaign, starve them out and kill off this cancer once and for all.

      1. It is time for you to give up on your psychosis…just because you didn’t get any “action” when you were an altar boy is no reason for you to carry it through your life.

      2. Summary;
Iran is a rogue State. With rogue leadership who believe THEY have the right to control International waterways and international commerce. A rogue State that uses its military against civilian targets. A rogue State that is sworn to the complete elimination of Israel, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, and Eskimos … as Allah ORDERS it. And they couldn’t be happier if that ushers in … the FINAL Battle … Armageddon in which every last human dies. Oh! And they commit mass murder against their own unhappy people.

Please make a note of it.

      3. This is an absolute mess. Trump doesn’t have the courage to go against his backers nor the miitary ability to defeat Iran. Rather, Iran is victor here and his own ego cannot accept he is the loser. I thought the MoU signalled Trump had found his balls and decided to declare victory, quit the war and work to get the oil flowing again; apparently not. This is not 4-D chess, it is gross incompetence.

  2. Yup, reminds me of an old Bugs Bunny (or maybe Daffy Duck) cartoon.

“I dare you to cross this line!”
“Oh yeah, I dare you to cross this line”
“Oh yeah, I dare you to cross this line”
“Oh yeah, I dare you to cross this line”
    etc
    etc

    1. I guess some might see it that way, but another way to look at it is to not have to destroy the entire infrastructure of Iran so the Persians can have it back.

    2. It reminds me of; Give Peace a Chance.
      Of … Diplomacy over Destruction.
Until none of those things work because your opponent is batshit crazy.

      1. ⬆️⬆️⬆️. THIS ⬆️⬆️⬆️
The IRGC is batshit crazy, ideological religious zealots.
They are getting every chance to just walk away.
Until they don’t, and everybody will know when the US finally decides to end this shitshow.

        1. But they can’t end this shitshow because the IRGC is batshit crazy – so they’d have to go nuclear to do it. Because the US public won’t stand for bodybags.

          And nuclear aint gonna happen.

          1. I’m not sure it’s fear of bodybags as much as it is fear of televised mass starvation and thirst of the Iranian people as we lay waste to their entire infrastructure … Gaza-style. We aren’t at war with the Iranian people … but their terrorist leaders. Yeah, it’s a very difficult problem. But one that needs to be handled.

      1. Just curious … will Palestine [sic] charge tolls for any ship passing within 20 nautical miles of its Mediterranean coastline … or send drone swarms to blow those ships out of the water?

          1. Sec. of War, Pete Hegseth pretty well eliminated the Houthi threat. And if he needs to whack that mole again? No hesitation.

  3. “any ideas out there as to how this script will be wrapped up?” I think this is another “the process is the punishment” thingy. It’s just not clear who is being “Processed” at one time or another. I’m just glad I don’t need to drive much. My 15 minutes city is just alright…

  4. The Iranian Islamist regime has to be destroyed because it is like a malignant cancer on humanity which is not just launching rockets at Jewish civilians but is attacking anything and everything it can around the world. It’s of the same ideological type as Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany. Annihilation is the only answer. Trump knows this. Trump is a student of history and he knows how it has to go.

Trump also knows he has to deal with those corrupted by Iranian regime’s oil, the suicidal empathy of the west and the vast infiltration of the world’s governments by the Muslim Brotherhood along with vast sums of money from Qatar and various cartels that benefit from what Iran is doing. He also has to contend with an American public that doesn’t care about Iran or Iranians and just wants gas prices to stay tolerable. And Trump has to wait for the ordinary Iranians, who don’t support the Islamist regime to organize and be ready to step up and take over. Every day hit squads supporting Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi are taking out Iranian officials, ending check points, blowing up military infrastructure and moving to take over the country.

This tit for tat is just Trump giving the Islamist Regime enough rope to hang itself while avoiding total panic, sky rocketing oil prices, alienating allies, and Americans voting Republicans out in the fall. It’s like pulling in the big fish you’ve hooked. That fish is thoroughly caught on the hook and will be netted and clubbed in the head soon enough. Trump is just making sure the line won’t break before that happens by playing it out and then reeling it in.

    1. Why would the Iranians want to destablilise the MoU, which is like a divorce agreement where the husband bargained the wife down to “everything she wants”.

  5. Good on Iran. The orange asshat started this entire fiasco for absolutely no reason except that he wanted “his” war. Now everyone is paying the price and no matter how much everyone thinks the Straight of Hormuz is international waters, Trump f’ked this up now and forever. Countries better get used to paying the toll for passage.

    1. I simply cannot fathom how mentally damaged one must be to actually believe that. OTOH … it’s the same mental illness consuming the Iranian Theocratic leadership and Iranian Deep State terrorists.

  6. It ended when Cushing saw the tank bottoms. IDK if Trump thinks the same way but I do believe China knows this and is helping Iran. Trump is trying to get to the other side of the midterms before gas hits 8$ nationally.
In the age of drones, above ground infrastructure is toast.

      1. The only reason to make the Hormuz claim is to prevent any peaceful resolution. If China was adamant about oil from the ME not being interrupted, Iran would 1) never have made the claim or 2) would have dropped the claim.
        China is the rogue nation.
Trump has midterms. Trump has snakes in his bed. Trump has Cushing.
        Xi has none of those.

  7. All Islamists in every country need to be treated like plague rats.
The Iranian version has been fcking around since 1979.
Almost 50 years of terror, torture and subjugation.
Shame on the whole world for putting up with this shit.

  8. L – The Arab oil/gas exporting states dependent on safe passage through *Hormuz, for which they have to pay extortion to Iran, too. Now are building pipelines to the Red Sea(access to Suez) and pipelines to give, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to access an Israeli port, and the Mediterranean Sea. Thus to the European market, faster, cheaper and safer. This will include undersea pipelines to Europe, too.

This is a big loss financially and politically for Iran. Their plan after their Shia(majority) allies in Iraq were able to seize control of much of Iraq. The next stage in a their Shia Crescent hegemon strategy of surrounding the Arab Gulf petro-states. The most recent was having their Huti allies over Yemen. Then attacking Saudi Arabia with rockets, ever since.

Orthodox Islam then would grant the Islamic Republic global leadership of Islamic Jihad if they were to destroy Israel. Hezbollah invading and taking control of formerly Christian majority Lebannon by the 1980s, then slaughtering the PLO in Gaza and mass indoctrination/radicalization of the Jordanian Arab there into a miserable life to blame the “Jews”.

Note that resentment causes of the first murder in history in Genesis. Cain slaying Abel. He blaming Abel for Cain’s failing to perfect his sacrifice towards achieving a blessed life. Resentment is always a major sin for humans to guard against.

Both Karl Marx(1848) and political Islam(global Caliphate) War Lord Mo.(632) brilliantly exploited this human weakness. So much so that even in the 21st Century, the tactic of Identity Politics/culture wars,oppressor/oppressed; it has torn the Western world apart from within. Feminizing Western institutions opened the gates via Marxist feminism, birthing the Psychopathy of Suicidal Empathy. This after having demonized and sidelined the protective masculine instinct labelled as toxic.

Pres. Trump plays the big game, first re-industrializing America and giving Europeans the opportunity to toss out their nihilist political class and re-build it’s economies and renew it’s raison d’etre. MAGA is a born again image of the Phoenix and/or Biblical meme slowly emerging.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has be a source of chaos and destruction in the Middle-east, Europe and even North America for 47 years. Now it may just be an eclipse of the Islamic crescent moon as it morphs into an asteroid.

Those who “love death more than Westerners love life”, are grasping at the opportunity to return to hell, from which nihilism and it’s variants of Thanatos originate(yes, this includes M.A.I.D.).

*De-industrializing Britain specialized financial services, including commercial shipping insurance. Did adding the risk premium to cover the varying threat of Mid-East chaos have a role to play in pricing? Who knows…past my pay grade.

    1. The pipelines are sitting targets too. The ONLY solution is the FINAL solution. Eradicate uncivilized 6th century nut bags with a 21st century Arsenal. Total elimination of the threat.

      1. Kenji is right. The Iranian regime is not negotiating in good faith. Their ideology does not allow it. Finish them. The usual left wing/socialist/communist wailing about the destruction will be out of the daily news cycle in a month.

  9. Unpopular opinion, but I don’t care how long Iran rags the puck. Every day Israel and the US acquire more intelligence, so every stupid random attack against Bahrain or Kuwait get strategic precision strikes against them.
No boots, just keep bombing their military infrastructure to crap. How is this losing?

    1. But then … I got curious about how the term “rag” was developed for a stalling tactic in hockey? My mind went to weird places. Interestingly … AI offered no explanation for the etymology of the term … So I had to look elsewhere.

In these early versions of hockey, players would use rags or other materials to create makeshift pucks. These objects were often irregularly shaped and difficult to control, leading players to adopt a more cautious approach when handling them. As a result, players would frequently “rag” or slow down their play in order to maintain possession of the puck and avoid turnovers.

This warm weather Californian … failed to understand that REAL hockey was developed by the chillllldren using makeshift materials as hockey pucks. Makes me admire the sport all the more.

  10. “Started this entire fiasco for absolutely no reason”
This comment is so stupid that I had to decide whether it was tongue in cheek or not. So I guess the status quo was the way to go. Allow a country ruled by suicidal madmen to continue on their merry way threatening their neighbours, using oil revenues to build up the military while the general population suffers, brutalized anyone who protests against the regime all the while racing to develop nuclear weapons. Sounds like a real plan. For those whiny little turds worried that they might have to pay a few more bucks to fill up their SUV ‘s consider the real possibility of missiles tipped with nuclear weapons pointed in their direction and under the control of maniacal zealots who welcome death.

  11. February 26, 2026.
The two sides made “significant progress” in the high-stakes talks in Geneva, Switzerland, and agreed to meet next week to discuss technical details in Vienna, according to Oman’s foreign minister Badr Al Busaidi, the mediator of the talks.

    February 28, 2026.
President Donald Trump claimed Iran posed an “imminent” threat to the US and its allies as he joined Israel in launching an operation to topple the Iranian regime.

Trump wanted to have his war and he certainly couldn’t have it if Iran signed a deal which was reportedly two days away so he attacked, killed hundreds of innocents and destroyed hundreds of homes, businesses etc. Trump is 100% to blame for everything that has occurred.
Nothing the orange asshat has done made sense about why.
It took a long time to settle on the uranium only because he needed a palatable excuse.
It’s great to talk tough when you aren’t likely to be blown apart by a rocket.
