    And Gore says regular people must drastically cut down on energy consumption, yet he himself lives in a mantion, using many times the energy of an average house.

  11. I’m thinking that it’s time for a celeb to open a school in Canada? Can’t do much worse that the ones which exist?
    Could we convince Rick Mercer to open up a charter school in Alberta for up and coming comedians?
    Or perhaps, Celine Dion open a school for the arts in Hull, Quebec?
    If this adds more choice to the mix of the public monopoly – I’m all for it.
    Photo op or not. If individuals can open schools of their own…why the heck not?

  14. Except for the part where a very wealthy woman is asking others to fund her idea, there’s nothing wrong with building and running a school, any school, in a desperately poor country.

    I do find it odd that these rich celebrities go on endlessly about the poor starving children in their own country but adopt, open schools etc. in foreign lands. It just seems strange to me.
    On the other hand, I’d rather they spend their own money rather than the government spend more of mine.

  17. That was hilarious in a sad sort of sick and twisted way… We do need something like this here – perhaps our exalted ex-PM Chretien could sponsor an all female canoe building school in Shawinigan…
    I mean really, when was the last time you saw a lady building a canoe? It’s just not right.
