Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“Make it make sense.” Why should it make sense, this is Canada, a land ruled by morons voted into power by imbeciles. Sense has left the building a long time ago.
ah ya beat me to it A.
the sad and shocking FACT is what you put down *is* the ‘sensible’ ie *logically based* explanation.
and note, NOT that it is ‘logical’ the product costs 3 X in Canaduh, but rather including e-v-e-r-y contributing factor in a comprehensive analysis, *would include cultural and psychological aspects*
and thats where the Canaduhian sheeple show up in droves, willing to shell out anything demanded, kowtow to the favorite Liberals, cluck cluck cluck away the party line, blame Trump,
ye olde entire ball of ear wax.
this is just one in the next 80,000 examples small and large that exposes the guts of this the newest
‘post national state’. p.s. l just posted a link at NP comments, of TURDeau 2.0 bouncing around ‘like a pogo stick or is that schtick? ‘ can *anybody* imagine the likes of clinton? bush? obama? doing that?

It’s because it’s a monopoly that they won’t change. They love them some free cash coming in from the drinkers on the markup they charge to retailers, and then they charge the sin taxes on top of that at the retail level. Makin’ it rain, baby.
Every day, Canada itself makes less and less sense.
Ever looked at Airport “Duty Frees”?
Worse than provincial liquor stores for prices.
Complete joke.
That said, Eby is protecting us from US booze, he says………
We have the almost exact same situation here in the US with prescription drugs. US citizens can drive into Canada and buy drugs made in the US for a fraction of the cost. Why? I have no idea; I’m ignorant as to the exact reasons. But it’s clearly the same kind of stupidity at work.
Similar not same.
commonwealth governments in general, tax everything that is “bad” for you , ie fuel, alcohol, tobacco. With the general idea that it’s supposed to pay the cost to society, but it all goes into general funds.Too the point that illegal tobacco is an issue In Australia because the price difference is so huge. At least you have not reached the point yet where they are smuggling Canadian Club back into Canada.
Drugs in US is because the drug companies have everything regulated it’s the drug companies making extra money not the government.
Not necessary, we get illegal smokes from the reservations, $35 a CARTON (10 packs)!
Australia the PACKS are $40 EACH!
When I was in Aus, depending on which state I was in, vaporizers were illegal in one state, but not the next, another state, the vape liquid was illegal, but not the vape itself!
“Look! a squirrel!”
Elbows Up! Trump is screwing Canadians! Damn those tariffs!
It is hilarious that Canadians are getting screwed far far worse by the actions of a monopoly inside their own government than by anything Trump has done.
Keep on Hating Him, because he’s the biggest problem Canada has! And your own government loves you.
Make it make sense? Simple. It’s Economic prohibition. The Canadian government is effectively BANNING alcohol … by making it unaffordable.
That’s what CA does with gasoline. We’ve declared a prohibition on gasoline by making it near economic suicide to buy it.
The left doesn’t BAN your sins … they just TAX it. But pot is a politically correct sin … so that’s still OK.
In Spain you can get CC for Eur13.95, which equals US$16.07.
If there is one thing Canadians love, it’s paying tax. We think the government can spend our money better than we can. And what another Marc said – monopoly.
I was complaining to a colleague on the changes to taxation done to small businesses. I explained how good things were (running a small business) before Trudeau got into power compared to now. His response – why should you get a tax break?
I still can’t get over how bad Canada has deteriorated. In my younger days I always thought of Canada as a country that had all the advantages we enjoyed here in the states, but managed to run it with more expertise and success, leading to a better QOL for all its citizens. Living here in the most densely populated state New Jersey (ughh), I was also jealous of how much land you folks had for a relatively small population and thought this bode extremely well for Canada’s future. Reading this blog the last two decades or so, I’ve been frankly shocked at how terribly its leaders have managed to squander (Castro Jr, on purpose) what were obviously huge advantages. All is not lost of course, but man, the challenges ahead for old school Canadians are daunting. That is not to say that the U.S. isn’t threatened – were it not for Trump, we’d be in the same boat – just an election away from ruin ourselves. Keep up the fight everyone – on both sides of the border!
The “best” thing that can happen in Chinada, is one of two outcomes.
1. A Financial collapse, either a government debt default (or next to it), or a sovereign currency collapse. Chicken and egg.
2. Annexation/Takeover/Invasion/Liberation by the US.
Either way, Chinada cannot continue down the path it’s currently on, it’s unsustainable.
Massive, growing deficits.
Anti-business governments.
Hostile socialist governments.
Anti-resource development governments.
Massive welfare spending.
Massive Gimmegration.
Massive drops in foreign investment.
Brain Drain.
The only big development projects that are “planned” are political ego fever dreams. The likelihood of these proceeding are as probable as unicorn sightings.
It might take 10 years, 10 months or 10 weeks, but one of those 2 outcomes is on its way. If not both, 1, followed by 2.
This god-forsaken post-national entity will still go through the Venezuelan experience before anything starts to improve. It will be ugly.
I found European companies had a solution to problematic clients in Québec. Send the client a gift bottle of cheap wine. Québec’s liquor levy made the client liable for over $100 on arrival.
