B’nai Brith accused of hate speech
*
why does the word edsel keep popping into my head?
According to the poll, 33 per cent of Canadians feel the economy is getting
worse, and only 13 per cent believe it’s getting better. The possibility of an
economic downturn has become the top political issue facing the country.
That could be difficult news for Dion, who has made the environment and
his “Green Shift” plan a central issue to use against the Conservatives.
“The risk here is that he’s shown up at a baseball game in full hockey gear.”
*
Or that he’s shown up to a hotdog eating contest with a knife and fork.
OK everyone, Dion met Arpurrr today and did a number in his Swiss Army shorts, an election is upon us. Here are my seat breakdowns by region.
Atlantic Canada- CPC get 15/31 seats
Quebec CPC get 29/75 seats
Ontario CPC get 42/106 seats
MB CPC get 10/14 seats
SK CPC get 12/14 seats
AB CPC get 27/28 seats
BC CPC get 20/36 seats
Yukon/NWT/Nunavit CPC get 1/3 seats
CPC 156/307 seats, Majority by 2 seats. Seats picked up in ON are from Liberal held, seats in Quebec are mostly from old bloc ridings, couple from Libs.
Barring any unforseen scandal not already disclosed.

CNN CONDEMNED FOR IGNORING GENOCIDE IN CHINA
http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2008/09/msm-condemned-for-ignoring-genocide-in.html
Got to read it all, folks. Why would a respected international news organization, based in America, where the press is supposedly free, who had heard about a possible holocaust happening today, choose to ignore it, not even investigate?
CFRA Polls
Who do you trust the most to lead a MAJORITY government?
Stephen Harper 87.6%
Stephane Dion 7.39%
Jack Layton 1.95%
Elizabeth May 1.73%
Other 1.30%
Total Votes: 460
http://www.cfra.com/polls/default.asp
Harper, Dion, Layton, Duceppe, May.
The only grown up in the bunch, the only leader who knows how to lead IN THE REAL WORLD, is Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The other four live in La-La Land.
No wonder 87.6% of CFRA listeners trust him the most to lead a majority government?
Go, Stephen, go!
Whoops, scratch the ? in above post. Sentence should read:
No wonder 87.6% of CFRA listeners trust him the most to lead a majority government.
A few weeks ago, Dion was musing that its looking more like Canadians want an election, and the editorials listed on National Newswatch appeared to be in general agreement that it was time for a clean slate, and we should have an election.
A few short summer weeks later, and it’s Harper calling the election,
and just peruse the editorials now.
Remarkable.

“Ottawa pulls $100,000 from B.C. Sierra Club’s climate-change initiative
VANCOUVER — Environment Canada has terminated a funding contract to the B.C. chapter of the Sierra Club of Canada, causing the possible closing of a climate-change program initiative.
Pat Dolan, executive director of Environment Canada’s outreach and biodiversity priorities division, telephoned the environmental non-profit group last week to say that the $100,000 funding contract, signed May 16, was terminated.
The grant had been approved through the EcoAction Community Funding program, a federal initiative created by the Chrétien government in 1995 and supported by subsequent administrations.”

(Via SWJ) David Montero, Pakistani tribesmen organize private armies to fight Taliban
Pakistan’s Taliban might be getting stronger, wreaking havoc along the country’s border with Afghanistan, but they are also growing wildly unpopular, inciting their own tribesmen to turn against them.
In the latest of a series of incidents, a lashkar, or private army comprised of Pakistani tribesmen, torched the houses of Taliban commanders in Bajaur, near the Afghan border, vowing to fight them until they are expelled…

Just in case anyone’s wondering about Todd Palin’s DUI:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/todd-palins-dui.html
He was arrested 22 years ago, at the age of 20, for driving under the influence and spent a few hours in jail. There was no accident and no one was hurt. He was dating Sarah Heath (now Palin) at the time.
So how much deeper does the Left have to dig in order to find dirt on the Palins? It seems to me they’ve got quite enough of their own: Slick Willie’s willy, Biden’s drinking and plagiarism, Obama’s drug past and connections to Ayer and Reznik, Teddy Kennedy’s Koppechnie scandal, need I say more?
What’s that saying again? People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones?
Yeah, that’s the one.
Was that Hans Christian of SDA commentary fame being interviewed on NewsNet this weekend?
My first thought was it couldn’t be as the TV screen would have been full of all of his ‘Frankenstein Brigade’ and pseudo army shit he usually signs off with…..
Delegates to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota attacked by Dem-onstrators:
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/09/leftist-protesters-attack-rnc-delegates.html
I don’t recall delegates to the DNC being attacked by demonstrators. In fact, I don’t recall that they needed heavy security because of demonstrators in Denver.
Eskimo: link?
Uh- batb, yes they did.
You were probably watching a news carrier other than Fox. There was indeed security at the DNC, and it was required. Seems the protest focused mainly on the Dalai Bama’s plan to send more troops to Afghanistan. Other whacko usual suspects were there as well.
batb, I don’t have a link and it may have even been CBC NewsWorld (I was only flipping channels). Anyway, this Christain dude is a college instructor and I think he was talking about the upcoming CDN election.
Not really that strange Dave. The Liberals still don’t really believe that they are not the government. It goes beyond thier limited imaginations.
Thanks, Malcolm.
I realize there were demonstrations by peace groups and others–but what I meant to say was that I don’t remember there being demonstrations or attacks AGAINST Democratic Party delegates.
There have been a number of individual Republican delegates to the RNC who have been attacked by demonstrators in St. Paul. The police there have also seized tools and substances–among them gallons of urine–that were to be used in the demonstrations.

38 hours later I got back to bed.

(Via Comment Central) David Brooks, What the Palin Pick Says
The main axis in McCain’s worldview is not left-right. It’s public service versus narrow self-interest. Throughout his career, he has been drawn to those crusades that enabled him to launch frontal attacks on the concentrated powers of selfishness…
When McCain met Sarah Palin last February, he was meeting the rarest of creatures, an American politician who sees the world as he does. Like McCain, Palin does not seem to have an explicit governing philosophy. Her background is socially conservative, but she has not pushed that as governor of Alaska. She seems to find it easier to work with liberal Democrats than the mandarins in her own party.
Instead, she seems to get up in the morning to root out corruption…
Essential reading:
Spengler, How Obama lost the election
DENVER – Senator Barack Obama’s acceptance speech last week seemed vastly different from the stands of this city’s Invesco Stadium than it did to the 40 million who saw it on television. Melancholy hung like think smog over the reserved seats where I sat with Democratic Party staffers. The crowd, of course, cheered mechanically at the tag lines, flourished placards, and even rose for the obligatory wave around the stadium. But its mood was sour. The air carried the acrid smell of defeat, and the crowd took shallow breaths. Even the appearance of R&B great Stevie Wonder failed to get the blood pumping…
Obama will spend the rest of his life wondering why he rejected the obvious road to victory, that is, choosing Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential nominee… [R]ejecting Clinton in favor of the colorless, unpopular, tangle-tongued Washington perennial Joe Biden was a statement of weakness. McCain’s selection was a statement of strength. America’s voters will forgive many things in a politician, including sexual misconduct, but they will not forgive weakness.
That is why McCain will win in November, and by a landslide…
Charles Macdonald, again, thanks for the great links. I especially enjoyed this history lesson in the limits of happy talk:
Obama’s “Talking” Cure
‘Conservative’ Alberta is wildly outspending everbody else
Alberta’s right-wing, fiscally responsible, red-tape hating, big government-loathing, strong and free “Conservative” government will spend $37.8-billion on government programs in fiscal 2008-09. What makes this figure exceptional is that it is higher than spending in British Columbia, where the government is slated to spend “only” $37.7-billion this year and they have nearly a million more citizens than Alberta.

Isn’t it interesting how the polls are all of a sudden showing the Conservatives to be on the verge of a majority?
The last poll we saw had the Liberals ahead 33-31 and now, a couple of weeks later, the CPC is ahead 37-29.
Could it be that the pollsters have to quit pandering to their Liberal buddies once an election call is imminent so they can avoid looking totally stupid?
Remember last election that Nanos was within a tenth of a point on all counts on election day and he’s had the CPC marginally ahead for a while now.
Watch for Nanos to have the CPC at or just below 40% now that an election call is around the corner.
They have a reputation to maintain, after all.
BTW Sammy, Cal Johnston is the former police chief in Regina and a good one, but he won’t get elected here, even Goodale will have trouble holding on to his seat as we look for a CPC sweep in Saskatchewan!

Other observation centers such as Mount Wilson Observatory are still reporting a spotless month. So depending on which center you believe, August was a record for either a full century, or only 50 years.”

Not one to EVER exagerate (barf) Dion proclaimed that this police chief was the most effective crime fighter in the history of Canada!!!!!
Wow.
“CPC 156/307 seats, Majority by 2 seats.”
I certainly hope that this turns out to be accurate.
However, after years of Liberal stupidity, corruption and outright thievery, one has to wonder …. why is it so close?
Wow, a law and order guy as a star candidate for the Liberals and a retired RCMP one at that.
Bet Ralphy Goodale was jerking proudly at that little announcement.
Any sign of strain on Goodale’s face these days?
Don’t they still have a few more ridings to find candidates for?

http://www.climateaudit.org/
biff jr – remember, we have set up an election infrastructure that makes it extremely difficult for any party to get a majority.
We have done this by removing 25% of the seats from full and fair contesting by national parties and have instead, handed over those seats to a situation where a non-national party is defined as ‘default’ and privileged. This is the Bloc Party in Quebec, which is not a national party but is open only to those electors in one province – which province has 25% of the seats in the House.
Because we have given one confined set of electors their own Private Party, this Party naturally becomes their default party. It represents them in a far stronger manner, because it is local, than any of the other three parties which are national rather than local/provincial.
This leaves 75% of the seats in the House, to be split up between three national parties: the Conservatives, the Liberals and the NDP. Assuming that one of these parties will be a minority, taking about 30 seats, that leaves about 200 seats split between the two main parties. In a House with 308 seats, you need at least 155 for a very narrow and even fragile majority.
How easy is it for one party to get 155 seats – which would leave the other national party with about 50? It isn’t easy – particularly since we are also dealing with a generation long brainwashing by the Liberal party, which set itself up in power and installed the Civil Service as loyal appointees, installed the MSM as loyal publicists, and locked all new immigrants into isolated, non-integrated and dependent blocs.
Now, if we didn’t have that default non-national party in Quebec, the Bloc, then, it would be far easier and fairer – for a parliament to be elected that represented a majority of the citizens.
With this default party – it makes it almost impossible because it removes so many seats from fair competition.
AtlanticJim,as the Mom of an RCMP member,I would ‘ditto’ your comment. My other son is an avid hunter, both my boys were brought up to respect guns, hunt, and shoot competitively (and very well I might add)None of us could understand why a criminal would respect a gun registry,I mean, criminals and respect for the law just don’t go hand in hand.

“The Democrats are Going Nuts!
The granola crunching, tree hugging thug loving mind is a wonderful thing isn’t it?
Whether here in Canada—or the United States. Progressives they call themselves. Hypocrites is a much more apt description.
Consider this situation with Bristol Palin. She’s the 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. You know the story: She’s unwed and pregnant. Mind you, she’s not going to abort, she’s going to wed the father.
Both of Bristol’s parents say they love their daughter unconditionally and are proud she’s going to have the baby.
The Democrats are going nuts! I actually heard a caller to CNN describe it as “Babygate!” Can you believe it? Babygate!
Here are the Democrats, the American progesssives who fell all over themselves defending a President who’s junior assistant was servicing him on her knees, upset over a 17-year-old unwed mother.”
