As a personal supporter of the Saskatchewan Party, I am ashamed by the article that appeared in this morning’s Star Phoenix.
“Conflict-of-interest disclosure statements, which include organizations that MLAs belong to, show the Sask. Party’s 36-member caucus has 11 MLAs who are card-carrying Tories.”
My question is simple. Why aren’t all members of Saskatchewan Party caucus members of the Conservative Party of Canada? As for the Conservative Party, get to it… you’re leaving money on the table.
Find those other 25 members, and get selling!

Right on Kate. All menbers of the Sask. Party should be members of the Federal Conservative Party. There is absolutely no conflict of interest if they were. Provincial NDP members are undoubtedly members of the Federal NDP.
THE HORROR!
Which leaves a burning question – to what Federal Party do the rest of those MPs belong?
I found that odd as well. I basically assumed that all Sask Party members were Conservatives. And I’d be completely shocked if provincial NDPs weren’t also federal NDPs.
How is any of this news?
gellen –
that story is an old “urban legend”

Are the provincial NDP MP’s members of the Federal NDP party or the Federal Liberal’s?
maybe the Sask Party holdouts are waiting for a conservative party, rather than the Cons
Clearly, the sask party is planning to go federal. This could be the start of another divided right wing.
If Pat Atkinson doesn’t like it, they must be doing something right.
We have a similar problem out here in BC and it’s starting to cause problems.
The BC Liberal Party is nothing more than a coalition of moderate lefties and the right as was the case with our Social Credit Party for so many years. Along with many others I almost barf every time I go to vote and I mark the ballot for a “Liberal” candidate. This coalition is the only way we can keep the bug-eyed crazies of the NDP out of office and their doctinaire socialist efforts to bankrupt and ruin BC.
Now, however, our provincial government is well on the way to adopting many of the characteristics of the looney left such as arrogance and an effete “we know what’s best for BC” attitude. The stupid carbon tax took the cake in exhibiting their contempt for the electorate.
They will pay the price. Oh, goody! Then we get the NDP back and we can be a “have not” province once again.
again the finger pointers are not giving a balanced picture as to the other parties.
what prov MLA’s are members of the fed NDP, Libs, et al
The Saskatchewan provincial Liberals are a screwed up bunch. They have no home of their own so they flip – flop … they voted NDP in 2003 and allowed the NDP to beat Hermanson and they voted Sask Party in 2007 and allowed Wall to beat Calvert.
The last thing that the Sask Party needs to do if they WANT to keep Liberal support …. is to have their nose placed firmly next to Harper’s butt.
These 11 didn’t read the memo … bought Conservative memberships and now that you folks are trumpeting the truth … oops … there goes Wall’s provincial Liberal votes.
Wall is already down in the polls:

As a note to Leftdog, the only other party represented in the Sask Leg. is the NDP. All members of the NDP are members of both federal and provincial levels. The NDP does not try to hide this fact, unlike others. That would be because the “conservative” name has been completely discredited in the Sask.
As for BCers comments, you should be heralding the green shift because Milton Friedman would be cheering for this move, to taxing consumption over income. Looks like the LPC is stealing from the rightards, now.
Guilt by association!! Isn’t there a 1970’s photo of Trudeau and Castro somehwere in the hallways of Ottawa?? Margaret also hung out with “questionable” characters–now she blames it on “Bi-Polar disorder.” Let’s see now, there was Pierre’s pole, Micks Pole and Jacks Pole!! Isn’t that a “Tri-Polar” disorder??
Lone Ranger – it was bad enough that PET hung out with Castro – the real harm may have been done when he hung out with Barbra Streisand.
That would be because the “conservative” name has been completely discredited in the Sask.
Let’s see …. 14 Federal seats in Sask, of which 13 are held by the Conservatives. I’ll bet the Liberals and NDP wish that they could be “disredited” in this manner.
And Biff – I’ll be laying odds that Ralph Goodale will be scouring the second hand stores for a Grant Devine mask in the next federal election. Because he’ll have a better chance getting elected wearing one of those than he would Dion’s Green Shaft.
I’m going to e mail Pat Atkinson and tell her to go f herself
Atkinson is still in sore loser mode and will, in all likelihood, remain in this state of mind until the end of her political career. When the “natural governing party” in Sask. is spanked at the polls by the evil right-wingers, a deep and resentful feeling of denial becomes a permanent part of the mindset of the lefties.
leftardy dog
Polls are for strippers and bati-boys.
As I’ve mentioned before, leftards and their imaginations scare the he%l out of themselves more than anything “c”onservative could ever actually do. Keeping that in mind leftards have a knack for deluding themselves into thinking that they speak for, or at least, their beliefs are in line with the common folk(ironic since leftards are elitists).
Sorry to be a broken record leftardy dog but you are akin to the poor saps on American Idol who find out for the first time that they cannot sing, actually they suck hard.
As the population exceeds 1 million in Sask, the percentage of public and unionized employees drops from approx. 35%. That is the magic number for the NDP, and that is why NDP governments allowed generation ‘x’ to leave the province(or should I say didn’t try to keep them). As long as the population of Sask stayed below 1 million people, the ratio held true. The tactical mistake the NDP made was lowering taxes in Sask, this resulted in growth and prosperity that people in Sask didn’t know they could accomplish( good for Sask, bad for the NDP). The NDP preached and preach envy and distrust for those who are successful, and now it has backfired, because the people the NDP loath, are the same people the need support from, successful people.
The genie is out of the bottle and the NDP are dead in Sask. No-one can stop the momentum at the provincial level, the population will continue to rise as it is supplemented by people who work in the private sector. That magic 35% drops to 30% and so on. As in Alberta, the only way to remove the Sask Party will be an alternative right wing party, and this will only happen if the Sask Party moves too far center (power corrupts).
So there you have it leftardy dog, what is good for the province is bad for the socialist. This is, and always has been the case with socialism. This is why during the cold war Soviets wanted Jeans and rock music. I don’t recall athletes from the western world claiming refugee status when they traveled to communist/socialist countries, or westerners fawning over Soviet fashion, or westerners paying top $$ for Soviet technology; sh%t, they went bankrupt because their economy failed and the work force was inefficient.
Tell me leftardy dog, how long is the line to immigrate from the US/Canada to China?
Bee-atch!
Isn’t Pat Atkinson the one who framed Likewski by digging up a 20 year old video about “The A’s and the B’s??” She should dig up some of the past records of a certain group of NDP MLA’s who covered up for Roch Carriere. Now that’s the real meaning of the phrase, “Guilt by Ass-ociation!
One and the same. However … to Atkinson’s credit, she “struggled” with the decision to release the tape to the media when it surfaced.
Man … the BS Detector red-lined with that little gem. Only someone with an extremely low opinion of the Saskatchewan electorate would dare to make such an outrageous statement.
We also need to remember that political memberships don’t necessarily mean anything at the polls. I know plenty of people who vote for the Sask NDP who refer to Layton as “Taliban Jack”.
We have to remember that normal people aren’t robots. There are a lot of people who voted for Tommy Douglas and John Diefenbaker.
leftdog and his views are always welcome here, unlike his blog where he moderates and doesn’t allow “extreme right wing” viewpoints. He thinks that’s being prudent.
As a result, he shows himself as the ass he really is and his blog readership hovers at about 12 readers a day.
The Sask. Party rules. They have a very long road ahead of them to fix up all the infra-structure that Saskatchewan needs to be a have {$$$} province for a very long time. It was no different for Alberta when Peter Lougheed got elected in Alberta.
Social Credit party would have had us at welfare’s door if they had kept getting elected. Right now in Alberta we are looking at Premier Ed Stelmac very hard and contemplating if he’s going to sell us short and waste the surplus {$$$}, the Con’s will be shown the door.
The problem in Alberta is we have no new viable party to vote for as of yet.
Liberals = Idiots
NDP = Idiots
Green Party = NOT WORTH MENTIONING
Wild Rose-Alliance = Unknown [need a leader and reps from ordinary people.]
To add to the above post. I could really give a damn what my provincial political rep. wants to belong to at a federal level. As long as he represents the province first and foremost in his dealings.
