Pakistan has a helpful suggestion for the West – become more Islamic, and we’ll all get along.
Pakistan will ask the European Union countries to amend laws regarding freedom of expression in order to prevent offensive incidents such as the printing of blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the production of an anti-Islam film by a Dutch legislator, sources in the Interior Ministry told Daily Times on Saturday.
They said that a six-member high-level delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Law would leave Islamabad on Sunday (today) for the EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium and explain to the EU leadership the backlash against the blasphemous campaign in the name of freedom of expression.
Well, this is hardly news. Just as the answer to the Palestinian Question has always been crystal clear (eradicate every last Jew in the Middle East), the answer to Western Islamophobia has always been “submit to Islam and nobody gets hurt.”
They said that the delegation would also tell the EU that if such acts against Islam are not controlled, more attacks on the EU diplomatic missions abroad could not be ruled out.
They’re receiving a friendly ear in certain quarters as pro-censorship progressives have long seen the upside of religion-state partnerships in regulating expression. It does make perfect sense on a certain level – once one has accepted the logic that controlling guns will eliminate “gun crime”, it’s not difficult to see how regulating the use of words is the key to cultural and religious harmony.
I’m sure readers will spot the familiar supremacist assumptions and the consequent moral inversion. The deaths, riots and violence were, apparently, “unleashed” by infidels who drew cartoons satirising previous threats and violence by belligerent Muslims. Things of which we must not speak. Those actually doing the murdering, threatening and rioting are, it seems, “harassed”. Poor them. Thus, by the ambassador’s thinking, the fits of emotional incontinence and attempts to cow dissent become our responsibility and, conveniently, no-one else’s. And those who need to “reflect” on what has happened – and what will no doubt happen again – are infidels who are, as yet, insufficiently fearful. And, by the same logic, we must learn to pacify and accommodate people who are prideful, malevolent and insane. Or else.
Yes, poor them.

Holy cripes,Pakistan just gave an ultimatim to Europe,as Germany did to countries befor the second world war,or in other words ,they just declared WAR on Europe and those duffesses in Europe are too STUPID to realize it!What do they have to do, kill somebody? O,they all ready did that.Silly me.
“stop the war
do not kill innocent Muslim peopel and dance with it
you bunch of sick people
stop the war”
– the resident muslim
Besides the broadcasts of Muslims throughout the world dancing in the streets in celebration of the 3000 murdered on 9/11, there’s this:
150,000 Muslims murdered by other Muslims in Algeria. Iran sends 1,000,000 unarmed Muslim men and boys to their deaths at the front lines of their war with another Muslim country, Iraq. 2,000,000 mostly black Muslims murdered by Arab Muslims in Sudan.
Shall I go on moron?
Interestingly, the the Pakistani government wishes to blackmail Denmark (and Europe) with the threat to kill Pakistani Muslims. News article of the attack on the Danish Embassy report that only one foreigner was injured. However two Pakistani policemen were killed.
They really do not believe that we hate them. They well know that we uphold the rights of all human beings. They view their indifference to the life and well being of their fellow citizens as a strength, and our humanitarian convictions as a weakness that they can use against us!
Any opinions around here on the fact that members of our Canadian military are actively working–and dying–to help establish a stable Islamic state in Afghanistan (and ditto our US counterparts in Iraq)?
Maybe our military heads know something you don’t: that it’s possible to accommodate both ‘Western’ democratic values and Islamic religious values within the same political system.
irwin daisy: If, as you claim, Islam is fundamentally violent, then how can you support the Canadian mission in Afghanistan, the goal of which is to help establish and maintain a stable Islamic Republic of Afghanistan?
I give Canada another year and the sock puppets dream will come into being, it will soon be a hate crime in Canada to speak of Islam in a negative way.

Rose, it’s already a human rights offence. This is why Steyn and Ezra have been charged. What conservatives in Canada need to ask themselves is why Harper not only doesn’t care that free speech is under attack in Canada but why Harper’s government is supporting those who want to abolish free speech? And why aren’t conservative Canadians up in arms. They certainly would be if a Liberal government took the same approach as Harper’s government has. I’m embarrassed that I enthusiastically supported the naive PC CPC. Never again.
DrD nailed the abuse analogy, let me propose another psych analogy, the Narcissistic Personality Disorder criteria lifted straight out of the DSM IV. Substitute for “a person that” with “a religion that”:
-has a grandiose sense of self-importance
-is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
-believes that he or she is “special” and unique
-requires excessive admiration
-has a sense of entitlement
-is interpersonally exploitative
-lacks empathy
-is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
-shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
As dysfunctional Islam rages across the globe, bear in mind that the narcissistic are notorious for meeting criticism with inappropriate rage. And, keep in mind that Islam flourishes in macho male cultures unlikely to ever be changed. One of the reasons that this has gotten so out of hand is that the West has so few adults in charge.
QE – salvaging the innocent victims of extreme violence – does the Taliban ring a bell with you? – seems a fitting intervention by any decent humanitarian democracy. No one is asking Afghanistan to drop Islam, but, it was required by the US and Canada and other peacekeepers to drop the violence visited upon its citizens.
Answer you question?

Because, stupid, we either support the moderates in Muslim countries and encourage them to reform their societies or we disengage and wait for the next attack, after which we will have no choice but to respond in a manner that will make today’s death tolls look like a Sunday School picnic.
Or we could just succumb. Is that what you want, lefty?
Is that clear enough for you, lefty?
penny that sounds eerily similar to the librano$
To whom are you directing your statement, haye? If it’s at the coalition forces, get a clue. They are not waging war. They, and the Iraqi military, are establishing peace by killing terrorists who are trying to derail the democratically elected government of Iraq.
So haye, are you an Islamist or just a stupid confused leftist who finds this all too complicated?
“One day”, Joe Smith @ 1:45 p.m.?
We’ve been there for quite some time!
Why are you here, “haye”? Are we supporting you, paying for your computer so you can attempt to defend the actions of radical Islamists?
Terry Gain :
You & me both. I was there when the Reform party was made. A dream killed, now where left with the leavings. A bland cold plateful of crow. Plus a whiff of hobo stew for a future. You know I actually thought this Country might survive. Time to go! Its plain to me the only thing left is to become owners of our own houses. Now that we have barbarians making our laws with the compliance or complicity of our own morphed conservatives into neo-cons.
Time to become Republics with a real bill of rights with teeth . So iron clad it can’t be warped by the totalitarians or bureaucrats. Least of all savages from the 7nth century.
QE,
I don’t claim that the Islamic ideology is foundationally violent, it is proven in their doctrine and texts. For example, according to Islam the world is divided into dar al Islam (the house of submission to allah) and dar al Harb (the house of literal war to be conquered by the sword of Islam). You can check their trilogy and their prophets life example for yourself. And how the text based political ideology is directly behind Islamic violence throughout history to the present day.
You’ll see there is no “misunderstanding”, which is often claimed.
I do not however, blame Muslims, other than those who carry out the violent and political commands contained in the trilogy. They can reform their ideology, or as with any idea, reject it altogether. If they weren’t threatened with death, that is.
