Well having travelled and converted to Islam in Nov of 2001, I suggest that you nail their terrorist to the wall as hard as you can. Bend over backwards to help the poor, don’t pander to them, learn Islam and question them, force them to look at what they say hard. The average Muslim is not conditioned to think critically about their religion. Help them get access to good education with a strong focus on sciences, this will help change their society. Demand that if they come to the west they abide by western standards, forget sharia law, if they don’t like it, there are lot’s of Islamic countries out there, Don’t let focus inward. If your new neighbour is Muslim invite them over, get to know them, you can respect some parts of Islam and learn the history without buying into it.
Most Muslims are decent people, who are conditioned to submit to religious authorities. It’s our job to help break that yoke.

I think alot of the suppositions made about Dallaire here are by people who really have no idea who he is or what his views are. To answer the question:
Become educated from Islamic sources. Study their trilogy (Quran, Hadith, Sira). Listen to what their scholars, political and religious authorities say, especially when they reference their own texts. Study Mohammad – it is he who they are commanded to emulate (read Spencer’s ‘the truth about Muhammad). Study their history. And pay attention to what important non-Muslims have said down through history (Maimonides, Churchill, Adams, etc), especially concerning the similarities we face today.
Do not become duped by western apologists, such as Said, Esposito or Armstrong. Be aware of the Islamic practice of taqiyya and kitman – don’t be duped. Be aware of the division of the Quran into the Meccan and Medina periods and hence, dualism (holding two opposing verses to be true). Also be aware of abrogation as it applies to the Quran.
Don’t fall for their ‘victimization’ tactic. Afterall, Islam expanded by the sword, conquering lands that did not belong to them. Islam is a political ideology of conquest and imperialism, more so and more cunningly (wrapped as it is in the attire of religion) than any other ideology in history.
Separate the ideology from the people. People are people. Ideas are ideas. It is the ideology that should be thoroughly understood, publicly unveiled and relentlessly questioned. Do not fall for the race card. Islam is not part of anybody’s physical makeup. It is an ideology and like Communism, it can be rejected. And don’t fall for the charge of ‘Islamophobia’. It is a false charge.
Just keep showing people the hadith, current news stories on widespread Muslims atrocities, and let people know what many Imams/Mullahs teach in their places of worship.

A fair question, I have always been opposed to organized religion. I met my wife in Canada, although she is Malay. She agreed to marry me without me converting even though it may cost her family and the ability to freely travel back home. (It is illegal in Malaysia for a non-Muslim to marry a Muslim. Despite my beliefs I agreed to a conversion by the Koran rather than the Malaysian requirements, I did this as I could not accept the thought of cutting my wife off from her family and culture, it was a very tough choice. I also refused to change my name (told them it would insult my parents, which stumped them as respect for parents is huge there) Needless to say I am not much of a Muslim other than name. It has however allowed me a door into another cultural world which allows me to see the good and bad of Islam and people that practice it.
I think it’s harder on my devout brother inlaw, he likes me but has issues with my views, has led to interesting conversations. When he was here the Ismail mosque would not let him pray there (he is Sunni), I pointed out that the church across the road would let him in if he wanted. It was a blow to his belief in the “brotherhood of Islam” (another myth they live by)

A fair question, I have always been opposed to organized religion. I met my wife in Canada, although she is Malay. She agreed to marry me without me converting even though it may cost her family and the ability to freely travel back home. (It is illegal in Malaysia for a non-Muslim to marry a Muslim. Despite my beliefs I agreed to a conversion by the Koran rather than the Malaysian requirements, I did this as I could not accept the thought of cutting my wife off from her family and culture, it was a very tough choice. I also refused to change my name (told them it would insult my parents, which stumped them as respect for parents is huge there) Needless to say I am not much of a Muslim other than name. It has however allowed me a door into another cultural world which allows me to see the good and bad of Islam and people that practice it.
I think it’s harder on my devout brother inlaw, he likes me but has issues with my views, has led to interesting conversations. When he was here the Ismail mosque would not let him pray there (he is Sunni), I pointed out that the church across the road would let him in if he wanted. It was a blow to his belief in the “brotherhood of Islam” (another myth they live by)

If you want me to defend radical and fundamentalist Islam as practiced, I can not. However I can point out that not all Muslims are the above. Treating all as your enemy is foolish and costly. Islam is a highly fractured belief and within those fractures lies the seeds of destruction of radical Islam and the seed of rebirth of moderate Islam. As we speak there are movements within Islamic countries to counter the radicals, it is slow, dangerous work for those involved. One of the bright stars is that Turkey has struck religious committees to review the hadiths and modernize them. This avoids the currently dangerous review of the Koran itself, but will still have a huge impact as the Hadiths are used as precedent for the interpretation of the Koranic verses. A look at the turbulent history of Christianity is worthwhile to understand what has to take place in Islam.

I hear you and I understand that there are cultural differences, as well as sects and therefore infighting in Islam, as much as any other religion.
The inherent problem with Islam is the unity of Uthman’s standardized Quran, as well as the accepted interpretations, or accepted books of the Hadith – which, of course, is the basis of understanding Mohammad’s life example, not to mention the pillars and shariah. All of this played against the diversity of understanding within various non-Arab cultures.
The problem is there’s no central body of theological understanding. To make matters worse, given that Islam is political, there’s no centre of jurisprudence.
Admittedly, a little like Christian Protestanism. Other than the fact that in Christianity, the religion is separated from the state: No mandated legal system, “Give unto Caesar”; no call to conquest through arms; and there are no dictates to tell you which hand to wipe your ass with.
However, and this is most important, the NT and Christ’s life example are diametrically opposed to the Quran and Mohammad’s life example.
I am in no way talking about people, culture, tribes, or anything other than doctrine, or ideology.
The stump problem with Islamic reform is Mohammad.
An ideology can be rejected. Exposure and critical thought is what those who benefit most fear. A landing must be provided.

As most people think middle east fight is over Muslim verses nonMuslim, I bleive this war is more related to business competition war over geographical area and oil in that region.
Isreal did not built their counry to help any jewish or care about their saftey or security of those jews people and people who are live there are poor people mentally or finacially rich smart jewish never live in Isreal because there i not securit stay in taht region. Some times I feel sorry for jews live in that area who can live in he area always think one day any war day may start again
A lady told once in Denmark or some area in Europe you barly can see they fighting or involve war I told them so because they do not have resource such as oil that usa want that.
USA or other firs class country who think middle east is like third world or like to made them like that either with war with usa or war with their neighbourt or etc because if thsoe people are not fighting they like tohave more busienss andprofit back to their country therefore they will demand more money over oil nad their otehr resources.

I am not agree two diffenrent religion should marry together they msut united over religion otehr wise for grow their chilrdenr and their freind or who to communicate they may face trouble but I know most men will conver to Muslim in order to marry Muslim woman which is fine for me and people who marry Muslim woman who were not Muslim they are most of them are very good kind people as I met at least 20 of them in mosque
next: There is 70 secs in Islam but the majority are divided in three main sunni and shia but again sunni majority are divided in 3 main one again aruge over sects are not big issue except in Pakistan Afganistan and some area in India and Saudi otherwise in other countries there is not major problems over sects issues.

the funny thing if you study number of Muslim population the China in north west of China has highest population of Muslim live there not in Middle east

next: people confuse beteween religion and belief with political rejim or group live in Muslim countries and political relatioship in forign affair is also with political problems inside that country such as somme country are Muslim which fine but they have a politic affari with other country which is not accptable with other countries or some country are so good in international relatioship but they have internal economical problems and so many poor live in their country again if political party not like each otehr such as in usa Replican vers liberal both of them may have majorit of Chrisitan but not have similirty of how to handle the country or deal with problems

Keep in mind that Mohammad actually codified for the first time in Arabia the rights of Arab woman, in fact he created the first uniform code of law for the nomadic people beyond the standard tribal customs. It is my opinion that Mohammad was at war with tribalism, he felt that tribalism was factor that kept the Arabs from obtaining the strength that the Christians, Jews and other had. The concept of one god and one rule was the key in his mind. It is also my opinion that Mohammed ultimately lost this battle and in fact Islam was incorporated into tribal custom. Consider that the Koran was written by a committee some 20 years after his death and they had to sort through conflict versions of the verses to come up with the version they did, add on the fact that Arabic is more poetic than precise you can get a sense of how many ways it can be bent. The same applies for the Hadiths.
I look at Mohammed’s first and last wife and I see 2 very strong, determined woman who were not shy about taking the lead in earthly affairs, I also judge Muhammad by his times not by ours.
The key problem in Islam is the current belief that nothing can be changed, once this concept is broken, Islam can develop as it should.
It will be interesting to see when the day comes that the Whabbis and House of Saudi finally split, I suspect it will be the Whabbi who decide they don’t need the House of Saudi anymore and try to overthrow them, if the Whabbis win, then the world will see great strife, if the house of Saudi wins a slow but steady decline in radicalism.
