The Canadian Press is not making this up;
Within the diverse crowd of different ethnicities and ages was father and son Kevin Barrett and six-year-old Caleb, who had to be convinced that nothing was wrong, even though a phalanx of police officers stood by ominously looking like they were ready to pounce.
Oh, that left wing media.

Spin them, spin them ‘news’!
I am sure the Canadian taliban in Brampton, (or wherever their website is now) would be streaming the information to Afghanistan that the appeaser Taliban Jack Layton was shit disturbing in Canada with a bunch of other Taliban sympathizers.
Evey Canadian TV outlet carried that crap all day long.
Canadian Press like CBC and MSM all left, all the time!
Why would there be police watching these birds closely? Hmmmm, maybe past experience with these so-called peacenicks. Always among their little cadre are the anarchist, Sheet disturbers who regularly like to cause damage, mayhem and other assorted non-compiant activities. It’s happened everywhere from coast to coast when these little groups assemble for a little tete-en-tete….give me a break. Caleb, I feel sorry your father is such an ignoramus to teach you this garbage.
The one skill these tools have is the ability to manufacture placards….. that and perhaps a penchant for behaving like complete asses.
So what?
“And then he was confused about why police would be here when we’re a bunch of people who are concerned about peace, so why on earth would they think we would do something violent when we’re here to promote peace.”
Wasn’t it just last week that a marine recruiting office was bombed in New York? I recall the criminals may have come across the border.
We need something similar to the ‘Gathering of Eagles’ to slap down the ignorati.
Police don’t like the citizens they’re SUPPOSED to protect. In this Land of 100,00 Laws, the Pigs look on EVERYONE as a law-breaker. Lots of laws keeps dissent down, no-one wants to stick their necks out anymore…
I googled Jessica Carpinone who was quoted in the article.
How quickly she forgot about all those people shot in the head in the soccer stadium. And the fact that women were not allowed to get an education.
After googling her name I reading a bit further, I was surprised that out of all the people at the rally they happened upon her for a quote.
Appearantly she has views on Israel’s right to existance as well. Worse than South Africa appearantly.
http://communities.canada.com/ottawacitizen/blogs/ideas/archive/2008/02/07/academic-tyrants.aspx
I guess when she was getting her edumucation in Ottawa they didn’t tell her that the Israeli Knesset has Arab members now and in the past.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Knesset_members
Here she is again signing a petition to re-instate a professor because they believe science should be taught with Activism, not Technical bias.
Looks like we have a professional activist here. I’m surprised she’s not a member of PETA or the IFAW, she’s seems to have an opinion on everything else.
Oh I don’t know. I don’t suppose that the police might have been a little on edge because of this:
http://www.canada.com/topics/news/story.html?id=9c3abf9d-e55a-4c7c-81e1-7d9302082ea9&k=42015
Considering that these protests are always infiltrated with $hit disturbers I’d be worried if the police DIDN’T look ready to pounce.
15 minutes of seal hunt protest followed up by a short anti war protest – is someone paying these people by the hour?
Jack Layton was impressed by the turnout, bigger than he expected.
Yes, Jack, very impressive – 1,000 people from a city of 2,500,000.
I think that’s the dictionary definition of “fringe”.
I love this little tag-on at the end…
“But there were some dissenters in the crowd.
Merle Terlesky stood nearby the protest with a sign that read “Fight Terror – Support NATO.”
Can’t you just see the one, lonely warmonger in the crowd of peaceful thousands?
“And what began as an anti-seal hunt protest in Calgary quickly transformed into a rally against Canada’s troops being in Afghanistan.”
They don’t know what they’re protesting against from one minute to the next so long as they’re protesting!
Possibly the police were there in force little Caleb because of the violent riots on Montreal streets two days ago that the MSM did not fully report to the Canadian public. Possibly your dad was apart of those riots also? What a surprise.
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20080315/montreal_police_080315/20080315?hub=Canada
And I hope that when young Caleb gets a little sister he’ll understand why Dad keeps his little sister out of school and covers her head to toe when they go outside and doesn’t allow her to pursue any occupation other than being married off at a young age and making babies, because that is what will be needed to preserve “peace”.
/ A milestone. Hateful Canada. Protests in Canada have been conducted for decades but this is the first time Police carried any weapons. Never thought I would live to see the day./
Anyway, why wouldn’t the protests have been conducted last week before the Commons vote? I’d say they missed the boat.
And, I wish someone, with first hand knowledge, would clearly explain to me what “peacekeeping” is, in a war zone. I’m serious.
“Caleb, who is a veteran of protests and brought along a homemade sign, said he thinks protests are fun.”
Six years old is a veteran? Who writes this dross.
That’s right, sonny. Shuffle along with the crowd and feel like you belong to something.
Daddy must be a real prize…..didn’t see any mention of mommy.
“Peacekeeping” = Protecting the bad guys.
The ultimate in moral relativism.
usually these protests are attended by at least two dressed as squirrels, a few bearded types still wearing round wirerims, a dozen or so diesel dykes in birkenstocks and socks. its always the same crowd.
Taliban Jack is going to have to do a quick merger with the Green Party to garner any seats at all.
I’m confused here again, watching leftard confusion in action….shouldn’;t they be protesting in Pakistan and Iran if they want to stop these wars???
No one wants out more than aliance forces but the Talibs and other Islmo-fascist terror groups keep the war going…perhaps appeal to their better instincts…Jack Layton has…but the war continues…perhaps it is actually Islamic theocratic totalitarianism and Islamo-fascist militant aggression which is slowing up the peace process here rather than the west’s refusal to accommodate it.
Just a rational thought to ponder while we watch the “feelers” parade their moral immodesty around in public view… hoping phony moral exhibitionism and misplaced emotionalism will provide answers to an an issue which requires rational thought and a stoic response.
Artcle: “I like peace, peace is good. I don’t want there to be wars everywhere, life is no fun if there’s wars everywhere.”
Wow that is so profound and simple it hurts.
“I like peace, peace is good. I don’t want there to be wars everywhere, life is no fun if there’s wars everywhere.”
And with that a 6-year-old summarizes the simplistic world view of anti-war types. Is there any wonder he fits right in?
“He was afraid they were going to shoot him,” said Barrett,”
WHO TEACHES A SIX YEAR OLD TO BE AFRAID OF THE POLICE?
Good luck Caleb!
Yes, life is just so much more fun when the girls aren’t allowed in school, gays are hanged from the goalposts of soccer stadiums, and widows are left to starve, begging in the streets — knee-slapping laughs from dawn ’til dusk!
#1 caring metro guy – “C’mon Michael, there’s a big demonstration today even Jack Layton will be there.”
#2 Caring metro guy – “Okay Richard, but what placard should I bring?”
#1 – “I think this one is about the Tibet thing? No, wait, it’s the baby seals.”
#2 – “Did we just do the baby seals last week?”
#1 – “Oh yes well … no wait … what’s wrong with me it’s the war.”
#2 – “Which one?”
#1 – “You know … c’mon, the one in the middle east.”
#2 – “We have to get out of there and what about Afghanistan too?”
#1 – “That too. So let’s go and maybe bring the baby seal one too just in case.”
#2 – “Let’s bring them all because diversity of issues is our strength and it will confuse the police and the conservatives.”
#1 – “You aren’t going out wearing those shoes are you? Gawd!”
“And then he was confused about why police would be here when we’re a bunch of people who are concerned about peace, so why on earth would they think we would do something violent when we’re here to promote peace.”
Yeah nice quote. Because we all know that no violence or vandalism ever erupts when leftard “activists” are demonstrating. Never seen that happen… nope… never ever
Wow DrD, that statement of your stupidity, oh, excuse me, your cunning intellect has blown all our arguments our of the water and exposed SDA as the gay lynch mob that it is.
Damn, and here I thought we were getting away with it.
Seriously DrD, do you actually believe the blather that you spew? No, I mean really do you beleive that?
I’m from Montreal and this is the first I heard of it[the riot].Being down with a nasty virus and two young children can really set one back, can anyone fill me in?
Re:Montreal Protest. CTV and The Globe had the same quote.
“A protester who calls himself “Frank” says the judicial system allows police to get away with too much.
“We’re here to denounce police violence and the impunity, the fact that they kill people and they get away with it,” he said before the march.
He also said police have a long history of racial profiling and frequently target the homeless.”
Yet at this anti-brutality march, several marchers launched beer bottles, snowballs and chunks of ice at officers, members of the media and passersby.
In one melee, demonstrators smashed the windows of a police van with wooden sticks and tried to snatch equipment.
They also damaged cars and broke several storefront windows as they snaked their way through Montreal’s core.
In Caledonia the armed police face -away- from the violent protesters.
Frenchie:
I believe DrD was describing conditions in Afghanistan BEFORE Canada arrived … in an ironic kind of way from the Taliban viewpoint.
How can anybody be socialist and anti-authority at the same time? How long do they think anarchists (or me for that matter) would suffer taxation without the threat of armed coercion?
I was struck by the overwhelming support shown for Smilin’ Jack and the NDP in yesterday’s by-elections.
Dear Frenchie77, have you ever read “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift? I thought not. Do so. If subsequently you still require a paint-by-numbers explanation of my comments let me know.
This was Montreal of course; police need to be on their guard, because sporadic riots are a historical fact not unlike Kenya to some degree.
Yea, we’ve been able to watch entire CBC & CTV exposes on “who cares” rioting going on in Tibet and China all week. Some of the participants are becoming household names, and yet we received a 10 second honorable mention by Liberal Lloyd when it happened in our country!
The best part is Canada is condemning China for censoring media coverage of the Tibet riot’s and praising us for having more knowledge of them. I wonder if the Chinese are laughing in return? You know they are…………
If it weren’t for leftard voters, these even bigger leftards would have to go get f’ing jobs instead of endlessly protesting.
Oh, those leftarded protesters. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to baton a few of them back in the good old days.
Hey ho, hey ho, ________________ has got to go.
They have been chanting this one since the 60’s.
Pathetic!
kingstonlad>
“I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to baton a few of them back in the good old days”
That would make you a national hero. Did you receive “order of Canada”? Probably not, traitors all of them………
kingstonlad,
Good job! These parasitical vermin deserve a good beating. Too bad their fear of the police is unwarranted now days.
Wow Frenchie77,
Just wow.
Remove head from ass, think, then comment.
police carry weapons every minute they are on duty.
DrD – I apologise, I entirely jumped the gun figuring you were baiting…too use to seeing trolls everywhere…getting paranoid
Warwick wrote: If it weren’t for leftard voters, these even bigger leftards would have to go get f’ing jobs instead of endlessly protesting.
I often wonder if the peaceniks have ever held a job or attempted to hold a job, their never ending drivel and tripe gets on my last nerve. Most Canadians pay them no heed, sad socialist losers who think they are making a difference by writing on cardboard placards and chanting nonsensical ideology. The irony is if we were a socialist utopia/hell hole they wouldn’t be allowed to hold rallies and chant stupid slogans.
Dear God “Cops having side arms” say it isn’t so, how stupid are these freaks to lament over the presence of a Police Officers at what they deem Peaceful Rally.
The people behind the so-called “anti-war” protesters are nothing of the sort. Mike Brock recently related his first hand exposure to them:
“…these people are not necessarily against militarism. No, they are against militarism in the form of liberal hegemony. And by liberal, they mean capitalist. They have no problem with organizations like the FARC, or other communist paramilitaries.
Remember, communists are anti-liberal. Not anti-war.”
Neither Layton nor the media have any excuse for being ignorant of this.
No worries, Frenchie. The trolls do run a bit thick at times.
Perhaps slightly off topic; did anyone here catch the story on CTV about four mid eastern looking men who spoke French, arrested in Halifax on the weekend?
Apparently the four climbed into a trailer, on a freighter, in Norway; they got off in Halifax, were unchallenged, went downtown, exchanged their currency for Cdn$, then went to the train station to buy tickets. I’m not sure if the train agent reported them but they were arrested 15 min before the train was to depart.
The gal on CTV was smiling at this cutsy wootsy story as she narrated, I’ve heard nothing since. Is anyone here able to fill us in on the rest of the story? Were these guys headed for Taliban Jack’s protest? Hummm.
Jema54 at March 18, 2008 4:12 PM
Nope. Never heard about this. Thanks for the tip.
Updated details here:
http://tinyurl.com/2yft3t
They were Algerian (hence the French). They were arrested in Truro while trying to board a train to Montreal.
and which left-wing communist group organized and financed the protest?????
LOL I guess the NDP will soon pull ahead of the CPC in polls.
