  1. the entire motion was a cheap political stunt designed to promote the real issue for the reform party…senate reform.
while senate reform may rock the world of albertans, the rest of us couldn’t care less.
Yes BugBoy …. we understand that you read the Toronto Star and listen to CBC..
We don’t need you to repeat it to us… now run away and go back to sucking your thumb.

  2. how long did it take for our benevolent Senators, they of the lamprey like lip lock on the public teat to pass legislation giving themselves a pay raise ??
    5 or 6 days ??
They can move their fat asses when they want to.
And Liberal Senators are part of the Liberal Caucus so they do what Steffi tells them. Or else.

  3. The silly irony, and what makes the Liberals, and Dion, in particular, look blindingly stupid, is that the result was 172-27 with them out. If they had all voted against it, it still would have passed 172-136… Dion could even allowed his members to free vote.
Harper got what he had hoped for – Dion walking out on a “get tough on crime” initiative. Priceless fodder for the next election. If the Liberal dominated Senate blocks it too, Harper scores twice. I can already hear the CPC ad proclaiming loudly, clearly, with video, that twice the Liberals voted against safe streets [cue the Toronto thugs…] LOL!

  4. The motion is dead in the water, the House cannot interfere with the Senate and vice-versa. Additionally, Harper cannot ask for Parliament to be dissolved or he would be breaking another promise, and a recently minted law. So a nice big political stunt was played out by both the CPC and Liberals today that will result in nothing when all is said and done.

  5. Sean S. You don’t seem to understand, PMSH is trying to pass what has already been received by Parlament.
    What’s the hold up?

  6. Qoute of the day on the Libs’evacuation’ of the House (from Greg Weston on Duff)..”I’m waiting for someone to show up in the House in a chicken suit, then you know it’s all over” Priceless.
BTW,after watching No-color,Pasty Face Newman, and his press gallery pundits (Delacourt, and Russo) tonite,I am honestly really angry.I ask a serious question of anyone of my SDA friends that are income- tax smart. Can I legally withhold my tax $$ that pay for that nightmare of a corporation? I have been thinking of this for a long time, maybe if enough of us tell their income tax prep people, that we are withholding, and cannot support this any more.Just a thot..now I have to go scream.

  7. The antics of parliament remind me of professional wrestling. If Harper WANTED the anti-crime bill to pass, he wouldn’t have prorogued parliament. In any case, Harper has no say in the Senate’s timetable. So the Libs walk out to show how angry they are. Oh, the hate, the bitterness.
But wait…it looks like Steffi and Stevie have reached some sort of compromise on Afghanistan. Love is in the air again…

  8. It reminds me more of the knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail … ” run away, run away”, except not as funny. If I squint, I can even picture that smarmy little Dion as Sir Robin/Eric Idle.

  9. Income-Trust-Me Ralph leads the exit of the Citoyen Dion Liberals. Where was Great Leader? In the rear; like Jubilation T. Cornpone*, leading from the rear.

“Stephane Dion avoids leading the Liberals today
I’m confused about something. Today, the Liberal caucus walked out of parliament in order to avoid voting on a motion designed to pressure the Liberal-dominated Senate to finally deal with the long delayed omnibus crime bill.
But it seems that Stephane Dion didn’t want to be photographed walking away from the House of Commons.
Maybe he was worried it would look too much like a retreat.
So he lets Ralph Goodale do the deed.”

Who was there to lead the charge, that took us safe to the rear?
Why it was Jubilation C. Dion.”

  11. sorry about the OT post above, I should have added this headline from Stephen Taylor
“Conservatives demand answers on Liberal fundraising scheme”

  12. Of course Canadians are delighted that the LIEberals have the courage of their convictions!!
Neither hot, nor cold, but rather lukewarm.
Another Goldilocks vote and my what big teeth you have Mr. Dion.
Mr. Dion is giving an admirable performance in the reenactment of “SITZKRIEG” or ‘phony war’.

  16. New fundraising scheme by the Libranos has quite a list of nondescripts willing to offer themselves up for money. What is it we call that?

  17. CBC’s Mansbridge’s report:
    – Keith Boag on the Afghan compromise: “Harper for the first time EVER, was fair and backed the Liberals in the house”
Then: Mansbridge shows the footage of Liberals walking out the house: “Then this happened in the house, Liberals walking out in defiance over confidence motion timetable for senate to pass crime bill, consisting of tougher sentences such for gun crimes and raising the age of sexual consent”
    Total running time: 5 seconds
    *vomit*
Had the Conservatives in opposition done this and the CBC would of had an 1/2 hour dedicated segment on it + a “At Issue” panel discussion.
    THE CBC MUST GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Yes, CBC must go. They’re nothing more than an arm of the Liberal Party paid for by ALL Canadians.
They’re acting like a cabal of political whores sneering at us through the cameras with snide remarks and innuendo with one purpose, to get the Libranos back in power for their own perks and job opportunities. Also to protect the jobs so many of their spouses and other relatives have with the Liberals.
This is Banana republic tactics, we cannot allow it.

  19. Western MSM is out-sourcing news to China.
Mao Stlong uses these words in the report: “anti-government militants”.
Translate fol Mao = Muslim Taliban murderers.

“21 abducted Afghans, Pakistanis released KABUL, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) — 21 abducted Afghans and Pakistanis in Afghanistan’s western Farah province have been released, a local official said Wednesday.
The 21 people including 11 Pakistanis and 10 Afghans abducted by anti-government militants three days ago have been released by their abductors following the efforts made by the Farah’s administration, Noorullah Khan, an aide to provincial governor Mohaidin Baloch, told Xinhua in a telephone interview.”

  20. Duffy last night commented on the Liberal amendments to the Afghanistan bill “some people are calling the Liberal policy statesmanlike.”
    Give me a break!
That bunch of bozos couldn’t be statesmanlike if you gave them a free instruction manual.
Their umpteenth shift in policy was a flimsy, see-through attempt to pretend that they are united on Afghanistan, when in reality they are all at each other’s throats, especially the upper echelon of Dion, Ignatieff and Rae.
Even Greg Weston didn’t try to cover for these self-serving bunch of nitwits, saying that it was no wonder PMSH was so “conciliatory” because he got exactly what he wanted!

  21. The Lib Senators complain they haven’t had the crime bill long enough yet the bombastic Goodale says that 2/5th or 3/5th would have been passed by the Senate if Harper had not prorogued Parliament. If that’s the case then why the need to start the review all over again. The Senate passed the new security legislation in two days. Two days folks! Arguably this legislation is more important to the country than the crime legislation. At least in the minds of the lefties.
The drum beat of an election is not over with yet. The lefties and particularly The Toronto Star are desperate to have an election even with an inept Liberal leader hoping to rid Canada of what they think is a threat to Canadian values.
Given the heightened rhetoric in editorials and of their columnists they are absolutely terrified that Harper will win the next election. Hence the over the top commentary.
I submit that in an election campaign with 3 other parties chewing at Dion he will collapse like a house of cards and Harper will be seen as the only choice to lead the country.

  22. Hillary’s teary interview was widely credited for her winning the New Hampshire primary.
    Hmmm……Stéph??

  23. Generalissimo Steffi Custer Dion readies to lead his Liberal fools- er – troops, in the final battle.
And when the bloodsucking, anti-democratic Libs are annihilated in this coming election, I may even send a thank you card to Gerard Kennedy myself.
