Cousin marriage is one way of defining the problem. I don’t think the key problem is genetic defects though that is a serious consideration. The basic problem, however, is that cousin marriage fosters (and here comes That Word again) — Tribalism.
That’s a mode of social, economic and political life that is based around kinship. The tribal mode considers that all the above interactions, ie social interactions (includes marriage, friendships); economic interactions; political loyalties and decision-making …rest within the ties, loyalties and obligations of Kinship. There is no ‘state’. Other people, who are not kin, are effectively non-human aliens.
It’s the basic organizational mode of life in all non-industrial societies. It’s great for promoting stability, because its beliefs and behaviour rest on Faith. Faith in the Kin Group, faith in the mythical ancestors of this Kin Group, faith in the destiny of this Kin Group. It’s the basic socialist way of life! All for one and one for all and a certainty of righteousness.
The West moved out of this mode about 600 years ago. It moved into a civic mode, which is based around the actions and reasoning of the individual-who-interacts-with-everyone and everything. The civic mode privileges individual questions, exploration. It’s less comfortable as a life experience (but more exciting) because the civic mode, based around the agency of the individual, is risky. You might succeed, you might fail, and you rely on yourself. Not your kin group.
It’s a mode that enables growth, innovation, new technology, expansion of territory by thought and design rather than by militant force, increase of food supplies by thought and design rather than by militant force.
The Pakistani immigrants are operating in the kinship infrastructure of tribalism. They are indifferent to the well-being of anyone else. Europe and the UK have to reject this lifestyle; otherwise, they will move into the Welfare mode within Europe and the UK.
The reason is that tribalism is a ‘faith-based’ rather than ‘reason-based’ mode of life. So, sustenance and life come, not from any individual work on your part, but because the Gods will protect your kin group. In the West, the ‘Gods’ are the Government – that must provide welfare for you and all members of your family. Because you are there.
Remember the Khadr family returning to Canada, with the mother insisting that Canada has to provide free health care to her and her children, disregarding their involvement in Al Qaeda terrorism? That was tribalism speaking; Canada/God was expected to look after her and her sons and health service was not to be a result of any work on her part.
In breeding and polygamy raise all kinds of questions and social ills.
There are lots of problems in Bountiful due to these issues. It should be discouraged at best and banned at worst. At a minimum it should never be encouraged through the use of incentives, welfare and payments.
This has nothing to do with religon and everything to with doing what is right for all that are involved, especially those without a voice, the children that result form these unions and societies.

OMMAG – yes, the article does point out that there is a great deal of plagiarism, copying of articles etc in science journals from the Islamic world.

If I am not mistaken, same-sex marriages in Canada must not violate laws of consanguinity. I must assume, also, that there is a ban on same-sex polygamy as well. How long is such a nonsense sustainable? It seems unlikely that we will be able to force the marriage genie back into the bottle; we should concentrate rather on pressing the folly of the courts and the government to its logical conclusions.

Yes, as in: don’t import it. End all immigration from primitive Muslim welfare-seeking countries like Pakistan.
