  1. Still with the same tired, old stick eh?
How do y’all feel about “little” Stevie’s performance of late? The lies, embarrassment and corruption? Sure didn’t take you long.

  2. I guess it takes a conservative to know the word is Shtick.
I would be curious to know if that hillside plunges the thermometer station into shade for part of the day.

  3. I unkilled the Lurker Under the Bridge’s comment long enough to feel stupider than usual, but it’s gone, now…

  4. I especially like the little pile of rocks at the base of the pole helping to keep the temperature sensor from falling against the building !

  5. “Same old Tired, Stick”
Ha ha…you must have meant “branch”. Same old tired branch…or did you mean “Limb”…yeah, same old tired Limb….
Another so-called Liberal troll who was edumucated in our progressive universities….

  6. That is what happens when you are stuck on stupid. It would make as much sense to place one of those temperature sensors beside an air conditioning vent. Quantum Liberal says “same, tired old schtick”. Ya well, you expose the absurdity of what stupid people do and all they can say is “same old, same old.” It has come to the point where they just accept that we know they are stupid and they come out with their same, tired old schtick of dissing PMSH.
“Lies, embarrassment and corruption.” Well, only in the eyes of leftards – especially leftards that used to be the government. Lies and corruption were standard operating proceedure for them. Only thing missing was the embarrassment part. You can’t embarrass sociopaths.

  7. you would think QL would have been embarrassed by Borat Dion having to issue a stuttering apology to the PM office. but no.
how are the lieberal coming with the payback on the adscam money. I think it would be appropriate to treat it as a demand loan with interest and demand it right before an election.

  8. Quantum lieberal was likely one of the morons out in minus 40 in Edmonton protesting Ed Stelmach not shutting down the oilsands to stop global warming. The sheer stupidity of a liberal knows no bounds. As long as they get a grant that came from oil wealth to fight the oil companys they are doing their part to save this 5 billion year old planet, yea like it’s going to tip over and roll away if we don’t start living like a liberal. Shut off your gas valve on the side of your mommys apartment quantum idiot and see how much you hate that nasty old natural gas.

  9. I think they should install a fan on the cooling fins and ducting to get a better read on the cooling efficiency on the transformer. Oh, that’s not what they are measuring.
My frustration is how awful even the 3 day forcasts are this winter. Better to go back to looking at the thermometer and doing my own forecasts from isobar and temp profiles. Did you notice Environment Canada has now changed their 3 month forecast for this spring? I’m not complaing, this is Canada, but do they need someone to help them adjust the fudge factors in their statistical models, I have some experience with that although only with industrial processes if they need a hand 😉

  10. Yes, but this one doesn’t count… either.
An AGW proponent will be along shortly to explain to all of us how data from these *flawed* sites does not alter the overall trend. Data from these sites does not alter the output of the models. Data from these sites is properly adjusted prior to usage. After all, data IS data.
We just have to accept the fact that, well, this time is different.

Yes, but what about the satellite data as well as balloon/atmospheric measurments?
If we want to dismiss all of the ground measurements, we still have other evidence that needs attention.

“”””If we want to dismiss all of the ground measurements, we still have other evidence that needs attention.”””””
ah, noop, not so, once one part of a study is deamed faulty, you scrap the WHOLE damn thing and start anew from scratch, as there is a tendancy to skewer the remainder to “prove” that initial (and probably eronious) conclussion was correct. A completly new study has a better chance of over coming this tendancy. Take a course in Industial Engineering and they will teach you that:-)))))

  13. there is not much more than ground evidence , the high altitude evidence is maybe 60 years old. the AGW type are touting 0.2 degrees per century remember, mostly based on northern data points.

  14. The sensor is so close to the building that, as someone pointed out above, it may be shaded for part of the day. Nothing I see there is casting shadows, so it’s hard to say which way the sensor is oriented. The sensor is also so close to the metal siding wall that if the sun hit that side of the structure, it would be impossible for it not to alter the readings.
Since the readings we seek are to provide evidence that the world is heating up at a galloping pace, it may be the perfect place to locate the sensor. Indoors, next to the furnace might be better, actually. But enviro-scientists would never fabricate data in such a shameless way.

  15. A couple of corrections regarding the photo.
Yes, that is a transformer that the sensor is next to, but the two smaller green boxes are also transformers. The larger green box that the longer arrow points to is most likely a primary voltage switch. Typically in small Alaskan towns, the generated voltage is 480, the large transformer probably steps it up to the primary distribution voltage which most likely feeds the two small adjacent units and the transformer or switch, or whatever that is.
Whether the transformer generates sufficient heat to affect the sensor in the summer or winter depends on how much of its capacity is being used.
Also, what is labeled as an exhaust vent is an intake vent. Typically, these are situated low to bring in cooler air, while exhaust vents are located higher to allow warmer air to escape. In either case, if this is a power plant as the link stated, then this particular vent is possibly for an office area, shop or something. The generators will require far more air than that.
In either case, while this is not the best placement for the sensor, this particular example is far from the most egregious that I’ve seen on this site. There were some real howlers.
