While I kind of applaude Councellor Ford for his spending habits (or lack thereof), this almost seems to be a little tooting of his own horn. Kind of tacky showboating.
That being said, I am truly amazed that Toronto has 44 councellors, especially since Calgary can manage with 14 and the 4th largest city in America (Houston) needs only 14 as well. Talk about your bloated government….
what did taliban jack and olivia spend in their days of councilling and subsidized housing.
44 councillors , seems like an honest number to control the centre of the known universe.
Funny how Miller now cries Poor when the Police want a raise and yet Miller and Mamoletti bitched about Mississauge Councellors making more than they do and it’s not FAIR.
Here’s a though Georgio/David , move to Mississauga and get Elected so we don’t go further in debt by your Tax and spend pipe dreams based on the Harvard MBA you got.
Miller spent $35 Million to NOT build a $20 Million dollar Bridge , now he spends about $200 million ayear on the “recorded” 800+ homeless when he could have bought the Sky Dome for $30 Million and had volunteers and Security workers on a Night Shift to house Homeless persons on cots until the morning.
Wake-up people , Miller is heading for a Debt-Wall and Councel is clinging to the hope of Harper
bailing Toronto out but Toronto problem is SPENDING and not revenues.
I predicted to a co-worker back in the mid 90’s that Toronto will become a City of 2 types of people , the filthy rich who own homes or Condo’s in Down Town toronto , and the Welfare cases that want housing DownTown and the Middle Class 2 parent family is forced out from the taxes to support this inverted Pyramid to expect home owner Property taxes to cover 90% of a budget that is Salaries and benefits to Union workers while the rest is Social programs for the welfare homes and all other Services become User-Fee based with cut-backs to core service and still higher taxes .
The Debt was allowed to now hit $1’500’000’000.00 and Miller keep whistling by the Graveyard like everything os Ok .
I’d ask for my money back if i sent my kid to harvard because Miller is playing a shell-game to move around the debt and fool people to believe were broke but then give themselves a raise .
Roger, while I agree with your concerns about Miller, in fairness it should be pointed out that Miller didn’t spend the $35M on the bridge. Rather the feds spent it after his city council put the kibosh on the bridge.
As a Torontonian, i have to laugh when the T.O. city gov’t sees the Harper gov’t as their saviours..this after Miller actively campaigned against the conservatives in the last two elections, and not one riding in downtown Toronto is conservative held..
It takes a lot of balls to slag the conservatives (for years!!), whilst having your hands in their back pockets..
I have a suggestion..elect more conservatives in the next election!! Perhaps they will look more favourably upon you!

Giorgio Mamolitti racked up bills in excess of $1,200 entertaining some Mexican business women over 2 dinners last year.
The municipal politician described himself as “internationally known” and saw nothing wrong with the expenditures.

In a town of 32,000 people they’ve spent $60 million in the last year on new toys and are trying to build the biggest hockey arena in western Canada. They are going through their 5th set of plans in as many years and still haven’t managed to raise any cash.
I bet MJ wishes they had a councillor that would call an audit on the big spenders.
Miller is missing a good bet. He should campaign to have the GTA declared Canada’s 11th province. Then he could apply for equalization payments from the Feds.
Toronto has got what they deserve –totally incompetent socialist municipal government.

I thought Toronto taxpayers gave that money to Paul Martin who merely turned around and paid it as part of getting votes from Toronto.
We are still paying for the Refugee Scam by Chretien where he pretended to lower taxes with one hand while the other hand passed on the Federal Program for Refugees to Toronto’s property-Tax payers because Martin found out that the $750 million ayear had a 70% failure rate because Tourists were being coached to stay here for all the Welfare and Housing , the people fell for it and Olivia Chow and Layton loved it because they could milk the immigrants and Refugees for future votes by handing out promises of Welfare and Housing for Illegal and criminals.
Why do you think that Miller now endorses his “Don’t ask , don’t tell” policy for the Police to no longer deal with Illegals , Schools even refuse to report illegal kids and yet teachers cry poor and demand more money wile Stats Can numbers prove a drop in the birth rate and family size for Toronto.
Just wait until a Terror cell slaughter hundrens in Toronto and Miller must answer for why 2 Police Officers didn’t report several men that appeared Illegal but were let go to drive on their way to a meeting with Jihadists.
Refugees are part of a Federal program and federal Policy, Chretien fool you and Miller won’t touch it because I emailed him and other yet only 1 person got back to me, plus the Toronto Budget had a item for $300’000.00 from HRDC that was re-directed to Muslim based groups that held workshops in Schools based on Literature from a Islamic Org with ties to Hamas and Hezballah.
Miller was on Councell when the money went to teach Islamn in Public Schools while Muslim were trying to kill Jesus one more time and ban Christmas from schools , CAIR canada told muslim to avoid that word and just say Season’s Greetings , just image the riots and fire in Toronto if non-Muslims tried to say Seasons greeting during Ranadan and avoided the word Muhammad.

Problem with Miller is that he learned nothing of his so-called ancestors.. the good Millers of grains. This guy lives in a fantasy land where principle always take precedence over practical considerations because he can MAKE somebody else pay for it!

I just wanted to correct you about the $35M. I am no fan of Miller to put it mildly. But the settlement payment was funded by all taxpayers and not just those in the big smoke. Furthermore the feds were at the wall with respect to the airport issue (it really was a settlement remember)and I think it a bit of a stretch to characterize the payment as one intended to get votes.
Ford is a spot of clear bright light in Onterrible’s sea of malfeasant darkness. There is hardly a city council in the province that isn’t filled with low brow grafters or opportunists….now if they wabted to move Ford’s spending audit plan to Queen’s Park…..
