  1. There are Canadian Blogging Awards? Who knew?
In the tradition of Canadian television (Canada’s Worst Driver, Worst Handyman) are they given out to the mediocre-est?

  2. Good old lefty sectarianism, and probably only the beginning: by this time next year we’ll have the Postcolonialist Anti-Neoimperialist Blog Awards and the Chomskyite Deconstructionist Award to look forward to. The revolution’s not going to be made with feet (except in the sense of thinking with); it’s going to be made with unread words.

  3. I thought I’d post this one more time because it came late in a comments section a few days ago. Have a great Christmas Kate. Love SDA.
[deleted – off topic. You’re welcome to repost on the correct thread. Have a great Christmas too, Jack. – ED]

A Pearl Kate! The essence of lefty’s self destructive anti-competitiveness.
..if you have no talent then open competition is anathema to your weakness…better to rig the finish line so all finish equally, rather than ensure all are equal at the start and let merit sort out winners from losers before the finish line.
I think they rig their elections the same way….probably explains why Proportional Representation is attractive to the loser left.

  5. We all should be poorer but equally sums up the philosophy of the left. If some go hungry it is a tragedy. If everyone goes hungry that is an improvement.

  6. I believe it is a violation of our human rights if everyone doesn’t win.
Hand out those awards, and the warm fuzzies that go with them.

  7. Great line Kate, right up thee with the one about Trudeau’s kids having someone to admire.BTW,should I be feeling guilty about the trophies I won based on ability? Shame on me.

  8. re: kevin’s comment above,

I found an interesting and telling quote in George Orwell’s writings. From AS I Please, 4th Feb, 1944
…Clothes rationing was not conceived in a democratic spirit, all the same it has had a democratising effect. If the poor are not much better dressed, at least the rich are shabbier. And since no real structural change is occurring in our society, the mechanical levelling process that results from sheer scarcity is better than nothing.
This shows a different concept of democracy. So does this mean that the totalitarian communist governments that called themselves “democratic” were the real democracies? To them it seems that freedom, and free competition have nothing to do with it.
Not suer if I am on topic, but there it is.

  9. I agree with D.Morris. The very idea of an award for excellence is an abomination against modern Lefty-ism. It smacks of (ugh, shudder) competition.
I propose a “Celebration of Equivalent Lefty Blogosity”, where the participants bask in their perfect mediocrity and adherence to dogma.
The award goes to those who are more equal than the others.
May Comrade Stalin smile upon you all.

  10. If they do have a left leaning blog awards. They should cut to the chase and rate the award as such.
    First Prize “Bush Whacker Award”
Second Prize “Harper Seal Clubbing Award”
(Best manifestation of Harper derangement syndrome)
Third Prized “The Hate Kate Award”
(Best manifestations of SDA derangement and envy syndrome.)
All participant Prize “The Wimpy Gimpy Award”
(To all entrants for merely participating in a meaningful human endeavor that brings harm no person, is carbon neutral, caring, compassionate and is spiritually deep. And for those blogger’s ability to continue coping and living with their various derangement syndromes.)

  11. GreyOne40: “If some go hungry it is a tragedy. If everyone goes hungry that is an improvement.”
That is brilliant GreyOne40. Kate, I think you need to add as an addendum to this to the post. This so describes so many people I know in two sentences, GreyOne40, may I use your quote in the future.

  12. to qwerty1:
    credit where credit is due.
The format of my post must have been a bit confusing. The statement, “…If some go hungry it is a tragedy. If everyone goes hungry that is an improvement,” was actually from a couple of posts above. The original was posted by Kevin.
So don’t attribute the brilliance to me, it was Kevin who came up with that one.
His words reminded me of the quote I then pulled from George Orwell.
Hope this straightens things out. It is Kevin who can give you permission to use that nice neat summary.
