Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Done! Kathy is a treat.
I am waiting on the Ron Paul supporters to be heard from in the comments 😉
Sorry, but I won’t vote for someone who won’t allow comments on her blog.
Gee dmorris,
maybe you don’t realize that I’ve been blogging before you knew what blogs were, and before comments were invented.
I don’t blog because I give a damn about what _you_ have to say. Who do you think you are? If you have an opinion, just get your own blog and post it there.
But I see you like to post anonymous comments too which is even worse. Millions of cowards now act like parasites, cluttering up other people’s blogs with their inane opinions. Why is that supposed to be a good thing?
Have you noticed how many fine blogs, like the Corner or Instapundit don’t allow comments either? Comments are not a prerequisite for blogging.
Your ego is showing and it ain’t pretty.
I’d vote for Canadian Sentinel but inexplicably she’s not on the list. What gives?
“But I see you like to post anonymous comments too which is even worse.”
What’s anonymous about my posts? And come on over to DMB anytime, my full name, and picture are right there.
You spout some of the most hate ridden posts I’ve ever seen on the ‘net, then allow no one rebuttal, except on someone else’s blog, like this one.
Your post a few months back that drew Raskolnikov back into the fray at DMB is a good example of what I’m talking about.
“Millions of cowards now act like parasites, cluttering up other people’s blogs with their inane opinions.”
Including your, Kathy, right here, now.
Kathy Shaidle has an excellent point regarding comments on blogs.
Connie and Mark Fournier at Free Domibion can attest to the problems commenters can cause to blog websites.
Staying anonymous and posting hate filled or libelous remarks on someone elses site are fodder for bottom feeders and the HRC’s in Canada.
No rebuttal? ever heard of email or are you too cowardly to use it? Of course I don’t allow rebuttals. I talk ,you listen. That’s how my site works. Don’t like it, don’t read it.
If it took me to get Rask to jump in with an angry little mysoginist missive, I guess that IS something to apologize for… Another anonymous man happy to say anything as long as his real name isn’t used.
So tedious.
It’s not ‘hateful’ my dear. It is called ‘style’. Sorry you don’t appreciate it. Hate is a feeling, not a crime. Like so many Canadian “conservatives” you’ve actually bought into political correctness and you don’t even know it.
Good luck Kathy!
dmorris needs to learn that he doesn’t have the right to moderate everything. Sometime ya just gotta shut up and listen.
“ever heard of email or are you too cowardly to use it?”
Use of E-mail is brave? Would you rather I hand deliver your Christmas card this year?
You may call it “style”, I would call it vitriolic ranting. Mansur’s and Coren’s columns, posted here, have “style”.
“Another anonymous man happy to say anything as “long as his real name isn’t used.”
The anonymity thing again. I use my real name,as you know very well from Facebook, and at DMB, use my full name, and display my real picture, nothing anonymous about it.
“maybe you don’t realize that I’ve been blogging before you knew what blogs were, and before comments were invented.”
Oh, I see, like the fundamentalist Islamics in the thread above, you have “tradition” as your fallback position. As I’ve only been blogging for about 2 or 3 years, I should not criticize your Holiness. Forgive me, Imam, I’m just a novice.
“you’ve actually bought into political correctness and you don’t even know it.”
That would be funny, if you had a clue about who I am and where I come from, politically.
My point, Ms. Shaidle, is that you, a highly opinionated person who has a blog, do NOT allow comments on your site, constantly refer to others comments, on others sites, as “inane”, but feel free to carry on with your own inanities on others sites.
I rarely “read” your site, just the posts you link to here, and I don’t engage in childish name calling with total strangers, as you do whenever anyone dares to say anything you disagree with in the slightest.
Five feet of Fury? Rename it “Five feet of Old Fashioned Top Down Editorializing Just Like the MSM”, it would be more accurate.
Although I realize that Five Feet really doesn’t give a rat’s patootie about what anyone says, I tend to agree with dmorris that the most common description of “blog” is a site that invites comments or at least some reader input.
This reason is why she got my vote for Diva 😉
The choice was pleasantly difficult, but I did vote for Kathy Shaidle. She beats the others in sheer ferocity!
Sheer ferocity? Ever read Atlas Shrugs?
Sheesh, give a guy a warning when linking to an oxymoron.
