CNN’s “Youtube” Republican debate may have set some sort of record…
… for its number of Democratic plants;
Abortion questioner is declared Edwards supporter (and a slobbering Anderson Cooper fan); Log Cabin Republican questioner is declared Obama supporter; lead toy questioner is a prominent union activist for the Edwards-endorsing United Steelworkers

Best line so far (hat tip to a commenter at Damian Penny’s blog):
“shows how the CNN-YouTube debate format tends to yield two types of questioners: plants and nuts:”

If it takes a debate for you to figure out who to vote for, then you’re an idiot who shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
I think there is going to be a republican who is going to win presidency. don’t knowwho but I do think there will be. I also think those people who think harper will be alone will eat there words to.
It’s not honest, it’s not even news, it’s CNN! Go Hollywood!
I think of all Democrats as plants anyways . . .
Ha — this was a no brainer !
The MSM is biased.
Go Huckabee go.
The demographic winter is here.

Good information on the subject.
Welcome.
CNN = Clinton News Network.

“plants and nuts”
I watched about an hour of it and would say that McCain and Ron Paul both qualify for the latter.
I don’t think these ‘plants’ were actually plants, I think it may be that these are democratic supporter who cannot get any answers from their own alleged leaders. Besides, why ask people who are not going to achieve power anything anyway. They will have no power to do anything about anything anyway.
…and Partisan “Non-Partisan” Ted should be along any time now to claim that there is no such thing as left-wing bias in the media. In 3,2,1…
Besides the Dem activist plants which the CNN taskforce assembled, their producers are too stupid to use Google?, spare me, it was the all too obvious cliched cameos they wove in as well…the Confederate flag guy, the Bible thumping guy, the gun guy….that was astonishing in how partisan they had crafted the evening.
They were so busy conjuring up the typical lefty lame Republican caricatures that foreign policy, Iraq, the economy, free trade, the big issues weren’t even presented. Idiots.
Ten seconds on Google by any kid in junior high and CNN’s deceit crashed and burned. Since our western MSM operates pretty much on the model of Putin’s and Chavez’s, agenda driven and self-censoring, all I can say is thank God for the internet. Let’s Google these morons into bankruptcy.
“I think of all Democrats as plants anyways . . . ”
poison ivy !!
Many seem to be missing the big picture here….
Dem or Repub….they are all two-faced,lying,punk-ass,sleazy manipulative politicians.
They are all interested in nothing more than saying WHATEVER it takes to gain power, then saying WHATEVER it takes to maintain it.
Same story here in Canada.
Wake the f**k up!
Won’t be long now, Penny.
Time Warner, parent of CNN, has been doing about as well as the NY Slimes company. Stock 52 week high was $23.15, closed today at $17.29. Two days ago it bottomed out at ~$16.21, below the 52 week low.
Something tells me CNN pulling stunts like this with the Republicans is not helping the ‘ol bottom line. If I was fool enough to own it, I’d be selling this turkey.
So… is the point that these sort of people shouldn’t be allowed to ask questions? Or attend? Or they can attend and ask questions but the questions they did ask were bad? Did they give a false name before asking a question? I mean, if every person who asked a question was a relative of John Kerry, is the issue that CNN did a bad job screening the backgrounds on the people who ask questions? And if so, is that what it has come to, that a background check is required to ask a question of a politician at an incredibly highly scripted event?
C’mon folks – THIS IS UNFAIR to these MSM guys! Don’t give em the impossible job of finding a non-Democrat within their ranks to do the job.
Arthur, give us a break!, Dem operatives posing as the-man-on-the-street, no disclaimers, no mention that these alleged common folks are paid staffers to unions, Dem gripe groups, and an advisory to Hillary! No, they weren’t welcome as “citizen” question at this debate.
If duplicty is something that you can accomodate in your life, I can’t.
Perhaps you missed my observation that while CNN was busy orchestrating these freaks they failed to allow relevant questions regarding the economy, foreign policy, Iraq, free trade, basic information an informed electorate needs.
It’s hard to find an industry on the planet that doesn’t do background checks. The crap spewed by the MSM shouldn’t be vetted?
I have no problem vetting questions. I think questions should be good ones, not pointless, like do you prefer diamonds or perls? I personally wouldn’t care if Rudy Giuliani showed up disguised in a wig and dress at the next democratic debate, as long as the question was a good one.
So again, is the problem that the questions were bad, or is the point here that some believe only the right people ought to get to ask the right questions?
Further to my previous points…what does it matter what the question is when the answers are pure manipulative bullshit fodder for the masses?
Be it abortion, foriegn policy, gun ownership, economics or religion, both sides spin spin spin, lie lie lie.
Until people address THAT,nothing will ever change,no matter which self-interested sleazebag party gets in.
Sigh.
Arthur A.,
The questions were bad. The whole YouTube format is lame… unless you let the YouTube community vote on what questions get asked it’s silly to do it at all… with 4000+ questions submitted, CNN got to cherry pick what they wanted, and as a result we see their bias shining through. A million monkeys typing on typewriters…
…of course, if they HAD let the YouTube/internet community vote on questions the candidates probably would never have agreed to participate (as was almost the case…), and arguably for good reason. Very flawed format.
As always. The Repupblicans had the courage to go on CNN with this lame format. Knowing ahead of time that the questions would be tilted. But, did the Demoscarridycats go on FOX news for a debate. NO……….Shows you who at least has the internal fortitude to handle the hard questions.
Its amazing, they ca find a gay, former army general to ask republicans questions about gay rights, and another questioner to ask “What would Jesus do” about the death penalty.
One would think it wouldn’t be too hard to at least find a woman who had had an abortion ask a question about the rights of the unborn. Or, since Hilary and Obama both claim to be guided by theie deeply held Christian beliefs ” What would Jesus do” about abortion?
Funny how the ambush questions only com out in the Republican debate…..huh
“Plants”
Velly Intevesting.
CNN also planted Democrat activists on the Republican Party “debate” they aired a few weeks ago. On both programs, CNN called them “undecided voters”, not “undecided Democrat activists”.
And, of course, CNN planted the Democrat homosexual activist to ask his question on the Republican “debate”. He did not ask Mrs. Clinton about the “don’t ask, don’t tell” program that she and her husband implemented.
If CNN claims to have not known about his background, they are incompetent fools; they could not run a reasonable good blogg.
Ho-hum! I don’t get to excited about debates.. all the Networks play silly tricks.
Some earpieces (Normally production PL) have been know to have a researcher on the other end.
CNN hate Americans, CBC hate Americans. Do I really care about been called a “Right Wing bloodsucking Wombat” Nope!
Canadians can chill-out and have a BUD. It just gets dirtier & dirtier, and then we all “Vote” for the last one standing. Something we picked up from the Romans. Enjoy!
I watched the debate, and it didn’t seem to make a difference that a few of the questions were asked by Democrats. It was fairly clear in the Democrats’ debate that some of the questions were asked by Republicans.
rob – none of the softball questions directed in the Dem debate originated from Republicans, more like syncopants/plants for the Dems. You really need to review that debate and all of commentary after.
Arthur A, the “diamonds or pearls?” question was a Hillary Clinton plant. As in, Hillary’s minions told that chick to ask Hill that question.
At a Republican debate the Democrat plants ask “when did you stop beating your wife?”
If a Democrat minion is going to ask a question at a Republican debate, shouldn’t they be identified as a paid operative of the Democrat party?
It’s not a conspiracy, it’s an agenda. Move along, nothing to see here citizen.
The Phantom, I guess I haven’t made myself clear. Me, I don’t care if George Bush shows up at a Democratic Debate and asks a question. The point is the questions that get asked. Are they good questions or not? Do they elicit responses that tell us something meaningful or not?
I wanted to know why Kate linked to Malkin. Why Malkin is trying to find out who was there and who asked questions. I guess the answer is, that to some people here the important thing isn’t what is asked, but who asks it and who they support.
Hey its INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS ald OBAMA and HILLARY came from pods and of course we all know that AL GORE alread came from a pod a rather seedy one. SQUAWK SQUAWK SQUAWK
Arthur A,
The point is is that they misrepresented themselves – they lied. If they had directly stated who they were and asked a question then – no problem. Then you have to ask yourself – why did they lie?
It’s that simple.
Things like Google and Wikipedia have revolutionized and completely democratized access to information. Unfortunately, everyone has to google and wiki everything because of incidents like this.
“Then you have to ask yourself – why did they lie?
It’s that simple.”
Actually, it would help me greatly if you could answer that question. It seems to me, the only reason someone would lie about who they are in order to ask a question, is because otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to ask the question. CNN screens the questions, so apparently, there was nothing wrong with any of the questions from CNN’s point of view.
So, would you count yourself among those who think that only the right kind of people can ask the right kind of questions? Or would you say it doesn’t really matter who you are, as long as you ask a good question?
Arthur A,
This was a Republican primary “debate”. The primaries are for Republicans (and maybe some swing voters). The Repub candidates are not trying to win over the Kostards–believe me.
Let the Republican candidates state their positions for their base–not some cheapshot Donkeys claiming to be “regular joes/janes” trying to sabotage the debate.
What we have is a 24/7 international news network either directly – or indirectly – in the pocket of the Donks.
Democrat candidates wouldn’t give a straight answer, so the activists had to ask the Republicans.
Gee Arthur, if the Republicans planted guys at the Democrat debate, and maybe made Hillary look like the drooling idiot she is (she was for illegals having drivers licences before she was against it!), would you be taking this tone about the right people and the right questions?
Please pardon my skepticism dude, but I think NOT.
For myself, call me crazy but I think there is going to be a marked difference between the questions that get asked by Joe Average Citizen and a paid political partisan.
“Diamonds or pearls, Mrs. Clinton?” “When did you stop beating your wife, Mr. Jiuliani?”
Jiuliani’s answer of course: “Which one?”
If you cant outwit a dem. plant then maybe you shouldnt be running. they will be everywhere.
Muslim questioner in Gop debate a CAIR plant …
Thanks CNN Who haven’t you helped from the anti American left?
That guy that asked the Dems if they were going to take his “baby” away (referring to his gun) seemed like a Republican.
Rob, if that guy was a Republican he’d have known the answer without asking.
