Outremont… with 5 polls reporting, NDP leading Liberals with nearly 50% of the vote.
(Jason, calm yourself. It’s early.)
Outremont … with 10 polls reporting, NDP leading Liberals 45% of the vote…
(jason, put down the glass. You’ll regret it tomorrow.)
Outremont … with 45 polls reporting, NDP leading Liberals with 49% of the vote…
(Jason, it’s not the dog’s fault. Stop kicking him.)
In other Earth Saving political developments, the Green Party is leading the NeoRhino candidate by a margin of 4 to 1. Good times at Elizabeth May’s tonight!
Outremont … with 60 polls reporting, NDP leading Liberals with 48.5% of the vote …
(Jason, come away from that window. Have another drink.)
Speaking of drink – you may take one for every time someone being interviewed on CPAC says “Stephane Dion is our leader”.
Outremont … with 100 polls reporting, NDP leading Liberals with 48.5% of the vote…
(The phone at Jason’s keeps ringing. Could someone please blackberry him for me and check that he’s ok?)
In the “Liberal stronghold” of Outremont, with the entire Liberal Quebec caucus holding tight to the handrails as she submerges below the waves…. Jocelyn Coulon has conceded defeat – “I feel as though I’ve won tonight”.
(Jason… put down the gun.)
From the comments (along with many excellent limericks) – “Pinhead just switched to English, and thanked “all Liberal militants.” I kid you not.”

[The last year of polling across Canada had the Green party at ~10%. Where did that vote go?]
Good question.
Makes one wonder if it was ever “there”.
Anybody see the numbers ??
Who did the polling anyways ? — the suzuki foundation ??
I am hoping for actual true blue conservatism in the throne speech.
Actual smaller government, actual broad based tax cuts, a flat tax, things like that. Something that can get the old Western base excited again.

I hate to gloat…….ah, what the hell…..I am gloating up a storm…….
Woo Hoo, awesome showing tonight for the good guys!
The new session should be a great show this october. The menu in the caffeteria should be a regular daily ‘special’ of fresh CROW.
Just tried to check latest results on Blogging Tories link and got:

In the past I’d say the site was slashdotted, but I guess now SDAing a site will be the Canadian equivalent.
It would have been nice if the Conservatives had taken St. Hyacinth also, but I’m happy with the results of this referendum on Dion’s leadership.
Actually I’d totally forgotten about these byelections until I decided to check out SDA at the end of a very long day. A nice surprise.
What remains to be seen is whether the 60% conservative vote in one riding is a fluke or a harbinger of things to come. Now we wait to see if PMSH can remember who put him into power; the west. I’m still on board, but barely.
set you free:
Until we have proportional representation, those numbers mean less than you think.
The CBC is now confirming, in a report titled Liberals shut out in Quebec byelections, the eye-witness reports above that Dion actually said: “We must be really proud that the parties that believe in Canada are stronger tonight”.
“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt”.

Haha best night ever watching Dion eat it! It rarely gets this good!
The crew at CTV are in mourning.
Congratulations Mr. Prime Minister!
I have been enjoying watching the ‘grim’ CTV wanna be senators (like Duffy) watching their nice comfy fur in the publically funded outhouse turning into a frayed fantasy. The Puffin media gang are as much fun to view as Deyawn.
A great night to be on the same side as the best Prime Minister Canada has ever had. I am cheering out loud.
The Globe and Mail have reported a major heist in Quebec.
“Tories steal seat from Bloc as Liberals lose Outremont”
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070917.wbyelection18/BNStory/National/
What a bunch of swine.
“In a daring late evening robbery, masked conservatives broke into Quebec and stole one of the most valuable seats in the poor downtrodden liberals possession. Speculation is that the heinous crime was committed by none other than the notorious conservative, Stephen Harper. Police have issued an all points bulletin and massive search for media integrity, but the outlook appears grim. Film at eleven.”
Just started the day here in Africa and as usual I go to SDA. Yessssssssssssssssss!!!!!! I love it!! I hope the voters in NS wake up for the next election.
Could it be the end of the liberal kleptocracy and all credibility of CBC / CTV ? I sure hope so
Say what you will about everything else, any time the Bloc lose a seat, that’s reason enough to celebrate.
lberia,
“oops…sorry about the multiple posts.”
I think you meant,
oops… sorry about soiling everyone and making a post.
enough
The five stages of political mortality: from irrelevance to obsolescence:
1)SHOCK “Oh my Gawd we actually lost the election”
2)ANGER “we’ll get that dirty Harper rat for this, no cooperation, no positive media, no quarter.”
3)DEFENSE REACTION “our poll numbers are going nowhere because there is nothing on voter’s minds right now”
4)DENIAL “so we lost all 3 Quebec by elections, we will win big in the spring general”
5)ACCEPTANCE ” well we’re back in the Opposition benches for good, voters didn’t like Dion, Iggy, Trudeau Jr or Kyoto…maybe it’s something something we stand for that ticks them off.”
Kate;
I know you don’t watch CBC, but Keith Boag appeared to be struggling to hold back tears as he reported the results. And with no way to spin it for Dion…
Kind of sad to watch.
Jason is no longer in favour of a fall election.
LFMAO!!
I rather feel like the kitty who ate the canary this morning.
Of course, Dion, having a poor grasp of English, will say stupid things like that, even though in the French language, an activist or supporter is a “militant”.
Of course, one can’t help but be reminded of the “militants” the Liberal Party doesn’t want Canada to stop from retaking Afghanistan.
Too bloody bad the Liberals’ Dhimmitude didn’t help them one bit in Quebec. Where could they have gone wrong? Could it be that they don’t understand Quebec and Quebeckers as well as Canada and Canadians? Could they be so devastatingly out of touch? Well, I’ll let the results indicate the Quebec People speaking for themselves.
And, moonbats of all stripes: Did you see it coming? The Conservatives winning a seat in a landslide with about 60% in Quebec? Who’d a ever thunk it was possible?
Smirk, smirk, smirk…
(Jason… put down the gun.) -Kate
-You’re yanking us, right? I could’ve sworn that Liberals were extremely gunophobic…
Congratulations my Canadian Comrades.
,
…does this mean the price of Poutine will go up?
And in conclusion:
If Quebec don’t want Dion, why should the rest of Canada..??
4 billion dollars and you bought 1 seat. Way to go Tories.
