See McGuinty – Updated: See McGuinty Threaten Media

See McGuinty run;

Quattrociocchi, whose plan to build duplexes in Brantford has been put on hold because of a protest by Natives, voiced his concern over the situation but was simply told by the Premier that it was ‘a federal problem’.

Brantford Expositor;

Quattrociocchi said he did his best to avoid problems before work started.
“I don’t understand why this is happening,” he said. “I’ve been playing by the rules and I’m a small developer.
“If my small eight-unit development has created such concern with some members of the Six Nations, then does this mean that all houses along the Grand River as well as the casino are owned by Six Nations?”

Looks like it…

A small Brantford development company will not yield to “extortion” by paying the Six Nations Confederacy Council a fee before it goes ahead with the construction of four semi-detached homes, its owner said yesterday.
Mike Quattrociocchi said that under the terms of a so-called development protocol, the aboriginal group wants him to give it about 4 per cent of the estimated $1.2-million value of project. He said he plans to resume construction next week, even though it is likely to trigger protests.
“They are going for the small guys because they know they can squeeze us,” said Mr. Quattrociocchi, whose project was shut down last week by native protesters.
Earlier this week, the confederacy council, which represents the hereditary chiefs of the Six Nations, announced the creation of the Haudenosaunee Development Institute, an agency that the chiefs say will “oversee” the development of lands in the Haldimand tract, an area six miles on either side of the Grand River.

From the comments – “It gets darker. Looks like Ben Chin tried to have the story hushed up.”

  1. mcbates has been insinuating and vomiting its preference for intrusions on property rights since the vermin got in.
This could be norms big chance in mcpsychoville. I hope he slips in the bathtub.

  2. ok4ua – I’m not certain where you have have been working – perhaps liberal party headquarters. Please tell us how you became aware of your fellow employees opinions. Where they announced before the entire office? Perhaps your boss confided in you? Maybe your fellow employee told you? All of these may have been possible. But, I think you are a liberal leftist who is telling a lie and you should scamper back to headquarters. Prejudice and bigotry are not welcome here.
I think your comments above would be better understood in their true context.
‘liberal leftists want everything that other people have but don’t want to work for it.’
‘liberal leftists use any excuse they can possibly think of when they have been caught in a lie.’

  3. Ernie Eves (Love him or hate him) said it best in the last election debate…………
“He just says whatever pops into his pointy little head”.
    He was absolutely correct!

  4. This person told me this to my face and then told me Ternowisky and Kummerfeld deserved more punishment than a native charged at the time for raping and trying to set an 80 year old woman on fire. They’re all guilty as hell. I’m retired but I hold these things as the truth. It was in a civil service job. And the person making these statements was making in excess 60,000.00 per annum. *I don’t have to make this stuff up. I worked for over 30 years and saw and heard lots in every political stripe.

  5. This crap would not be happening under a Conservative government. At least one judge showed some balls and kept the terrorist Brant in jail until his trial. How much money is enough for this particular tribe? Ciggys, casinos, grants, tax exemption…..when does it stop? Do you folks know, for example, that the majority of the world’s on-line casinos are hosted on the reserve in Montreal? I know this to be true, because I am playing right now on a site from Sweden, hosted in Akwesasne. I could only dream of being able to open a casino, sell tax-free tobacco and host on-line gaming sites. I would be a friggin gazillionaire. Nothing but thugs, punks and criminals!

  6. I’m not prejudice I’m interested in what’s right and what’s wrong. We’re so politcally correct we lie.

  7. ok4ua – It sounds like you have information that should be brought forward to the police. Either bring it forward or its just heresay.

  8. Native…(fill in the blank) = second rate.
Housing law enforcement, and especially labour pool.
“Native anything” : to be avoided at all costs.
Simply a watered-down politically correct guilt rationalization for mediocrity.
And it REALLY hurts the “good ones”.

  9. Tnenbris….re: Hail Caeser!
Exactly. I think that if these new election laws are enacted, Ontario will be governed just like Italy, with every special interest group one can think of, “represented”. IIRC BC dippers tried to do this too. It failed but was close so now they want to change their own rules regarding percentage of votes required to enact “proportional representation” and have a do over.

  10. It does not surprise me that Quattrociocchi’s colourful past has being raised here as the most convenient red herring to deflect the issue away from the outright extortion of the HDI; the man is by no means driven snow pure. But read the Expositor with a shaker’s worth of metaphorical salt – the rag is and always has been (at least since I had any awareness of politics) left-Liberal apologia done up in a convenient format for house-training puppies.
Well, perhaps I exaggerate slightly. But its current editor taught English at my high school when I was there, and thirty years later I am still unimpressed.
I have lived within the original, six-miles-on-either-side of the Grand river grant almost my entire life; my ancestors settled here in the 1840’s. For many reasons, none of them connected to the newly militant Six Nations land claims, I no longer want to live here. But the future fuss this promises is just the chrome-plated propeller on the tin hat of my determination to get out.

  11. How long can McGuinty keep saying “It’s a Federal problem”…before the Feds respond? The voters in Ontario need a straight answer from Chuck Strahl.Who is the MP for that area?

  12. I have re-read that my last comment. Just want clarify that I beleive the Feds have already responded to the situation. I would like to see a federal response to McGuinty using that excuse as a scapegoat.

  13. “casinos, grants, tax exemption…..when does it stop?”
Sounds like we’re talking about churches here.

  14. “McGuinty has put a referendum question on the ballot regarding the Ontario electoral structure: do we keep first-passed-the-post, or mixed-member-proportional.”
Ya that’ll work … government by committee.

  15. Well, almost like the churches, except for the fact that the RC’s have not shut down any rail lines lately, do not trade tobacco for heroin, are not hosting the majority of the world’s on-line poker sites, etc, etc, etc.

  16. This is all getting so tiresome–I realize worse than tiresome on the part of those whose livelihoods are at stake because of militant Native groups.
This intimidation and bullying are the all-too-predictable outcomes of the lily-livered, bleeding-heart-liberal appeasement of the native population in Canada/Ontario, lo these many years.
What’s really maddening, is that the appeasement tactics have NOT helped Natives to be self-motivated or successful. They have only assuaged “the white man’s guilt,” and there’s no end to this nasty game.
As an Ontario resident, I’m discouraged by my choices at the ballot box next month. ‘Not one “leader” (sic) in the bunch. ‘Just a lot of guilt-ridden appeasers, quite happy to see non-Natives suffer and have their livelihoods threatened and ruined, while in no way do their white-flag tactics towards the Six Nations help them become self-motivated or self-supporting.
In other words, a total mess. A total misreading of human nature which is, if you don’t have your head up your a**, that give someone an inch and they’ll 99% of the time take a mile; put no breaks on the runaway car and it’s off like a shot, a lethal weapon.
Appeasement is a fool’s game–one that lib-left girly men have perfected to a T, from their ivory towers and Rosedale/High Park/Forest Hill mansions.
It’s enough to make one weep and start praying again. Ontario needs a miracle, because the only thing tory about the Conservative leader is his name.

  17. If the Natives keep calling the shots and governments keep passing the buck to each other, who’s in charge?
Might as well give the province over to the Indians, they’ve taken ownership of the land we’ve developed and paid taxes on for hundreds of years and we can’t do squat according to Pointy Head McGuinty, not his problem. WELL IT BLOODY WELL IS!
If we return that dweeb to power, we better all stop complaining, and enjoy the ride to have-not designation.

  18. From the Mope & Wail:
A contractor putting the final touches on a home he was building for his daughter and fiancé was seriously injured yesterday after a confrontation with several young men in Caledonia.
    …
Sam Gualtieri, 52, of Caledonia, was found unconscious on the floor inside the home with at least four young men, his brother Joe, told The Globe and Mail. His brother was trying to chase them out of the house when they punched him, his nephews later told him.
“The Indian was striking him on the head with a two-by-four while he was unconscious.”
Mr. Gualtieri was rushed to West Haldimand General Hospital with serious injuries.
“He’s in and out of consciousness. He has a concussion, a broken nose, he’s bruised all over the face. His teeth are broken. He might have fluid in his spine as well,” Joe Gualtieri said.
OPP Constable Paula Wright confirmed there was a confrontation between a 52-year-old contractor and a “number of unknown young males” shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday near the building site where protesters from the Six Nations reserve were gathered.
    …
The protest came only days after the government privately warned developers that the province can do little for them if they become the target of native protest.
    …
But he cautioned that native protests turn a construction site into police business, and even if the builder gets a court injunction ordering protesters off the site, the police will be cautious in enforcing it because their priority is avoiding conflict, the sources added.

  19. This is a random reminder that the Blogging Tories blogroll actively supports the re-election of Dalton McGuinty and the Liberal Party of Ontario.
Blogging Tories love Indian terrorism and extortion nearly as much as they love taxes.

  20. BTW, it’s so telling when we have yet another MSM “journalist”, Ben Chin, jumping to the Liberal Party’s employ.

  21. For most of us, the preponderance of our personal wealth, meagre though it may be, is tied up in our homes and property.
At this point, I see nothing to stop any native group in Ontario from claiming my home, or anybody else’s. McUseless has made it clear that the province will not intercede to protect my property from specious aboriginal claims or actions, and therefore it is at risk, as is the case with every other resident in this province.
Does McUseless have any idea at all what he plays at? I wonder what’s worse… having no clue, or having a clue and not caring.

  22. Law enforcement is a provincial matter. Land titles off reserve is a provincial matter. McGuinty is passing the buck. This should be the major issue of the election.

  23. bluetech said: “Just want clarify that I beleive the Feds have already responded to the situation. I would like to see a federal response to McGuinty using that excuse as a scapegoat.”
Well they have responded…Harper has given them $250 million a year for 10 years to land claim settlements and the creation of a new independent tribunal that will make final decisions about disputes.
Instead of letting disputes over land and compensation drag on forever, fuelling anger and frustration and uncertainty, they will be solved once and for all by impartial judges.
I fundamentally disagree with any system that runs outside the legitimate courts but this is a half-way gesture in good faith bargaining…so I support it….because the decisions are final.
The reason Grand river Six nations avoid legitimate court like the plague and choose revisionist propagandizing and emotional romantic mythology to sell their agenda is that the they have NO legitimate claims on surrendered Haldimand tract lands.
If we were to be completely unforgiving of historic fact, Six nations would have NO legitimate claim on ANY Haldimand tract land that they do not directly occupy and farm….the true fact of history is that the Mohawks were never given deed to the Haldimand tract by the Brits…the deed was held in trust by the Colonial office in London …Haldimand purchased the Grand River tract from the Mississauga who occupied it and allowed the Mowhawks from New York state to farm it “rent gratis” as they were displaced by the US revolutionary war.
Mowhawks are not native to Canada/Ontario they are British immigrant loyalists who were allowed to farm on crown owned land.
When Jos. Brant found out his tribe did not OWN the land he proceeded to sell off most of it in huge blocks so he could give the the money from the sale to his people as compensation….the crown turned a blind eye to the illegal sales of its lands because they held a fealty compensation to the Mowhaks who fought for the crown in the US revolution…it was not Brant’s land to “sell”, it was crown deeded land fairly purchased from the native occupants ( the Mississauga).
Essentially if anyone should have an ancient claim to encumber deeds on the Mohawk tract land it is the crown of England who were never payed for the land they owned and allowed the Mohawks to sell for personal profit.

  24. It isn’t just extortion money that the builders are being demanded they pay – they also have to sign an agreement for “perpetual care and maintenance”.
I bet that includes a clause that the new homebuyer will have to payt forever as well.
hey admit there is no set formula for builders fees, but will be set at their disgression, which also means their own people will not be able to demand accountability for monies collected in the SN name.
we now have a builder who was inside his own house, being beaten on the head with a 2×4 while lying unconcious – and it is being spun that the native attackers were acting in self defense.
It is absolutely disgusting that things have come this far.
McGuinty has said Ontario will support its deeds, however it is up to the landowner to deal with the natives – and the OPP will not aid except to allow only natives onto sites.
Byy alowing the native occupiers into the site, the OPP actively “breached the peace” themselves.

  25. 6 Nations are not even Canadian natives they are immigrants they moved here from the USA the same time the loyalists did and more recently than the French did.
So should the “UEL” loyalists make the same land claims?
Bet the MSM’s miss that angle because they aren’t as smart as me, 🙂

  26. Shaken said” For most of us, the preponderance of our personal wealth, meagre though it may be, is tied up in our homes and property.
I wonder what’s worse… having no clue, or having a clue and not caring.””
Now you’re getting it! I have been railing about this since the start of the Caledonia debacle.
McSlimey has responsibility for the provincial land deeding system and for enforcing the right of deed holders.
His actions in Caledonia and inaction on SN Haldimand tract claims over deeded and crown land has brought the property deeding system into disrepute….a deed in Ontario means NOTHING of the government will not enforce the rights of ownership.
IF they seriously address illegitimate SN claims It means there is a defacto caveat on all the private deeds in the Haldimant treact….we are talking 10s of BILLIONS in provately owned property here!!!
Does McSlimey know what he’s doing…yeah, I belive he does…he’s a full-on Tammany hall styled plutocrat who despises private property in the hands of anyone but his well heeled political patrons and thinks the government should control it all like a huge land brokerage…the contempt shown for owner’s land use rights in the Green belt plan is evidence of this….his contempt for deed holders in the Grand river tract is another glaring example.
The man is “family compact” pond scum….. 150 years ago civilly responsible citizens would have dragged him from office, emersed him in boiling tar, given him a fresh chicken feather “suit” and escorted him by torch light down to the lake to a row boat tied to the first freighter back to Europe….he would be treated as justly as as a conspiring traitor who undermines common land ownership can expect.

  27. Back in the days of the old west, at least as far as all the dusters I used to see as a kid goes, …
“The only good Injun is a dead Injun”.
It’s looking more and more like they had it right back then.
As I consider our society of today, I think we had much more right fifty years than we do today. Pity. I am told that the pendulum does swing. May a few choruses from the Benny Goodman band would help it get started.

  28. A matter of appearances
    Brantford Expositor (On)
    Monday, August 20, 2007
    Byline: Philp, Tim
In politics, as in life, it is often not what you do that gets you in trouble, but what people think that you do. It is for this reason that the Progressive Conservative campaign to put Coun. Dan McCreary in Liberal MPP Dave Levac’s seat at Queen’s Park is starting to show a few cracks.
At last Monday’s city council meeting, Coun. Richard Carpenter, a well-known Liberal, accused McCreary of using his council position to further his provincial election campaign. While a sitting councillor always has some advantage when running for higher office, such as a place in the public spotlight, Carpenter’s allegations were of a more serious nature.
Carpenter accused McCreary of using his council position to provide a benefit to a person who is working to get McCreary elected to the legislature. At issue was an application by developer and former councillor Mike Quattrociocchi to make some minor zoning changes to a piece of property on Grand River Avenue that Quattrociocchi is developing. The changes were minor in scope and would have been granted to any developer for the asking.
But that was not the point. McCreary voted to approve the zoning change. These kinds of issues are a matter of routine for city councillors, however, on this occasion it just looked bad for McCreary to vote on something that will help Quattrociocchi who is a member of the Conservative party executive.
It got worse when Carpenter overheard Quattrociocchi asking another councillor about sign locations for McCreary’s campaign. This indicated that Quattrociocchi was more than just a bystander in McCreary’s campaign, but an active worker.
In a clumsy attempt to still the controversy, Quattrociocchi denied that he was working on McCreary’s campaign, however, he said that he wanted McCreary to win and that he fully intended to get involved in the campaign. It is difficult to imagine any private citizen who is not involved in the campaign making inquiries about sign locations.
This is the second misstep by McCreary. During the municipal campaign last fall, he declared quite firmly that he would not seek higher office during this term. Now he is a candidate for MPP…

  29. Still damned little being said about this in the MSM!
What’s the matter? No way to spin this Liberal Positive??
Posted by: OMMAG at September 14, 2007 10:52 AM
So where then do Kate’s links go to? Or does CTV and the National Post not count as MSM anymore when they hollow out The Vast Leftwing Media Conspiracy?

  30. McSlimeball is going to have a meltdown after he sees the polls go south for him at the end of next week.
As far as the Indians go, they always lose in the end. You’d think they would’ve learned.

  31. A comment from an anonymous source at this post:
“What Mr. Kinsella may not know is that Mr. Philp’s – the autor of his little find and no doubt the source – daughter works for Dave Levac the Liberal MPP for the area.”
“Amazing how they leap to defend one of their own when he &%@$*s up. But dig up dirt on a Conservative that dares to not roll over when his livelihood is at stake. I wonder what they’ve dug up thus far on Sam Gualtieri.”

  32. Your point Ted?…BTW…you are little late…this ‘council’ story was posted last night.
Are you implying that the developer should not be concerned with sign locations?Signs are the most overt declaration, and we still have the freedom to post them during the elections.
This issue is not about McCreary, or the developer…it is about McGuinty, his lack of leadership, and the media trying to spin in favour of the Libs at the expense of law abiding hard working capitalist Canadians.

  33. Bluetech: the point is that Mr. Q. is not some innocent independent business person making an innocent independent inquiry of the Premier of Ontario about his personal business. He is heavily involved in the McCreary election campaign. And the MSM is helping McCreary and Mr. Q. by giving him a hidden mic before he asks his question.
I’m sure McGuinty would love the kind of praise the MSM has been lavishing on Tory and Hampton, Bluetech. When McGuinty wins this it will be despite the media coverage, certainly not because of it. How many networks or other media networks are giving hidden microphones to “innocent” “independent” voters who want to ask John Tory or Howard Hampton a question?

  34. Not hard to figure out why Mr. Q is heavily involved in the PC campaign…nothing subtle there either…again…what’s your point Ted?
I think if the media thought the was a story they would be there at any other campaign.
    Media tables turning??
    Perhaps…
Maybe the open discussion over these years re: media bias toward the Liberals has had an effect.
I wouldn’t have complained all these years about media bias if there was no hope of them changing the tactics.
Perhaps this blog has an effect.
    Is that your point Ted?

  35. Ted, why the fuss about a hidden microphone? Does McGuinty tell voters different stories in public when he thinks he can get away without facing media scrutiny?

  36. No, Murray. Only adding a little information to this innocent independent citizen inquiry.
Let me ask you, do you think it is the same thing if say George Smitherman walked up and asked Tory a question about his idea of funding creationism and he had a hidden mic with him, or if regular family guy down the street asked him? Would you react the same way? Or would you say that Smitherman is not representative, has a political agenda, is not asking the question as a voting citizen but as a partisan hack.
Well we just found out that Mr. Q is a partisan hack.
Change what’s happening in Grand River? No. Give some added context and flavour to the sincerity of Mr. Q’s question and Mr. Chin’s reaction? Absolutely.

  37. Ted, the “protesters” beat some OTHER developer guy half to death yesterday on his job site. D’ya think that’s business as usual? D’ya think maybe somebody might have intimated to Quattrociocchi that this kind of thing might happen to him too? Is Quattrociocchi NOT the developer of the site being blocked by Mohawks? Is he NOT losing his shirt here?
I’m a member of the Ontario PC party Ted. If I go ask Dalton WTF?! are you doing in Caledonia, is that ok or is there some kind of rule Conservative party members don’t get to play?

  38. Ted is so typical of all the liberal left. One standard for themselves another for the rest of us plebs. Ted forgets that the liberal party has a whole team of paid lackeys following around both Tory and Hampton – taping their every move and comment and then chopping it up and putting it on UTube. He also seems to ignore the paid union professionals that are going about disrupting Tory’s events. Not to mention the liberals that attacked both Eves and Harris. Give me a break Ted.

  39. Jim – hunh? What are you smoking and can I have some?
Here’s a guy masquerading as non-partisan independent observer. I point out that (a) he’s in fact a partisan hack and (b) it doesn’t change the substance of his question but gives the rest of this story some context.
What the hell does your post have to do with that? I also didn’t mention that the traffic is heavy on the Gardiner Expressway right now, the Blue Jays won yesterday and what the price of tea is right now in China.
You are apparently aware the Liberals are taking all of those actions – presumably because the Liberals aren’t hiding the fact that they are doing it. I’m merely adding a little context.
What do you have against facts, Jim?

  40. Ted, the guy’s a developer in Brantford. Developers up and down the Grand have been getting threats from the Mohawks for months and months now. Should he join the Liberal Party and then go ask John Tory WTF?! instead? Do we lose the right to complain about people seizing our property by force when we join the PC party and volunteer?
Are the Mohawks blocking his site by force or not, Ted? Does his land deed mean anything or doesn’t it? Who SHOULD he ask on live mic Ted? You?
You aren’t adding any context, what you are doing is an ad hominem slime attack against a guy who asked Dalton a legitimate question on TV. What do you have against house builders, Ted?

  41. It would appear that the official Provincial Liberal policy is that there is one law for natives, and another for the rest of us who pay tax, and that Ted is just fine with that. Or perhaps Ted is merely upset by a person with ties to the Conservatives embarrassing Dalton “Trust me” McGuinty during an election, and this outrage trumps the fact that rule of law is and has been regularly flouted by Six Nations on McGuinty’s watch. Who knows? Under other circumstances he might be put out at the natives’ all-in-fun 2×4 joshery.

  42. Well Ted..is that your point? He’s ‘masquerading’as non-partisan?
How does inquiring in a public meeting re: signs, and publicly asking McGuinty ‘what he plans to do’ come across as ‘masquerading?’
Do you get dizzy when you spin like that Ted?
