  1. Being offended for a word or phrase, isn’t that the muslim way, so wait for the carbques in Quebec. It wouldn’t be the first time for hockey riots in Quebec. I only hope that if it is suggested by hockey canada (which I doubt) that Doan lose the C, that no other player will wear it, and walk away from the series enmasse.
These so called honorable mps have slandered our troops and our hockey team. What is next.

  2. It’s obvious they don’t watch much hockey, if “the criteria for choosing” hockey players is so uncertain it needs Parliamentary action for clarification. The leftist panel couldn’t have been surprised there was no Conservative there for that train wreck…
What was up with that Bloc weirdo? He stammered so bad I thought there was something wrong with the video stream.

  3. Does anyone else find it ironic that the 3 members of the “official languages commitee” have trouble speaking one of the official languages?

  4. What a gaggle of idiots. That Bloc MP looks and sounds like he’s working on one brain cell. Sheesh.

  5. Scoring support from thousands of Canadians
    […]
Now with the [Liberal-Bloc] politicians’ attack on the Halkirk, Alta. native, hundreds of emails and phone calls have poured in from Canadians defending him.
A petition backing the affable hockey player has been set up on a website called savedoan.ca, and among thousands of patriots signing their name to support Doan is colourful CBC broadcaster Don Cherry.
As well, media from across Canada, including the Calgary Sun with its Thursday front-page headline ‘Leave Captain Canada Alone,’ have come to his defence. …-

  6. This would not happen unless there was a large voting block in favour of it, and a large voting block that thought it legitimate. Ten’s of percent each, a quarter to half of our neighbours…
Apoplexy is warring with nausea on this one.

  7. Very interesting interview with Mr. and Mrs. Doan on 100 Huntley St. today. Beautiful people, leading meaningful lives. They make those 3 idiots look even more stupid, if that was possible.

  8. Tweedle Dumb, Tweedle Dumber and Tweedle Dumbest: sorry, I don’t know how to say that in French.
But Peter, the media guy, was fantastic: hard questions and he didn’t take crap. Why couldn’t he be on CBC? (rhetorical question)

  9. I’m laughing my head off. Great comments on the Three Dummies:
Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest. LOL! Working on one brain cell! …two dick heads and a Fruit Bat in the middle! Gotta figure at least a couple of centuries inbreeding to explain that doofus Malo…! What was up with that Bloc weirdo? He stammered so bad I thought there was something wrong with the video stream.!
Maybe I’m just tired, but I’m cracking up. I guess if I wasn’t laughing I’d be bawling my eyes out. Sad Canada, for sure.

  10. OMFG! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Urine tests should be required for MPs.
Sweet jesus, my belly hurts, these are elected officials!
    BWaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhahahahhaha!
    Thanks for posting this 🙂

  11. The petition at http://www.savedoan.ca is over 10500 now.
I don’t know if the Pavel Bure and Rick Nash signatures are real, but it would be nice to see more players (if they’re allowed to – the NHL may see this as something to be ignored until it goes away)

  12. You see something like this Three Stooges show, and then suddenly you understand the gun registry and how it came to cost 2 billion bucks for a database you could literally run on a laptop.
    Kyoto likewise.

  13. Urine tests for MPs! Ha!
Best idea I have heard in a long time.
These three twits are done like dinner. I hope.

  14. WOW! With all due respect Kate, wouldn’t you like Canadians to log onto your site with this kind of passion? Maybe PM Harper was right in letting these idiots take their agenda and run with it, Don Cherry logging on…jesus! In my opinion, this maybe the tipping point for a Majority.

  15. Funniest thing about the petition are all the people signing it that are against Doan. Do they understand the meaning of a petition? Also, some of the comments prove why there should be a reasonable competency test to vote. A lot of people are under the impression that the “government” wants Doan to be stripped of his captaincy. Have another Molson and watch the ‘Nucks exit from the playoffs.

  16. What a pack of losers.
BQ wants out of Canada….yet bitch about who is leading the country on the ice.
What a pack of wasted skin……all of ’em.

  17. I think it should be Hockey Canada striking a committee to investigate how Parlimentary committees are chosen. Sheesh.

  18. Notice several signers are from Que, with comments saying they are embarrased by this. Ralph Kleins name is there. Didn’t go thru them all, but is Steven Harpers there. Also a few comments saying how they will vote next election. This could give PMSH a huge majority, especially if he has Doan around him on tours or in commercials.

  19. It’s really annoying to think each of these 3 clowns makes, what, $130K/year or so.
    For this?
Think how that clip would look to a visitor to the country. They’d think we were out of our collective minds.
Of course, if PAYING for an opposition party dedicated to the break-up of the country doesn’t qualify us for the nuthouse, why would this stupid issue make a difference?
Why would Quebec care who is captain of Canada’s team, anyway? They don’t view themselves as Canadians but as primarily French, so why the fuss? They only seem to care about Canada inasmuch as it is a source of extorted revenue for la belle province. They don’t seem to give a tin merde for anything else apart from Canuck transfer payments. Notwithstanding the nice maple leaf on the cheques and fat pensions the bloc members receive, of course.
Here’s a solution: have English and Francophone co-captains. The Commons can set up the tribunal to grill the anglo in both official languages, and the francophone – who will doubtless only speak french – gets a free pass, because if he was grilled by an English-speaker, that’d be anti-french, right? The whole process can be taped in excruciating detail, including progress reports and updates. Naturally, this would fit with the CBC’s mandate, and perhaps they could even spin off some lame-o-maple documentary (or even – gasp – a docu-drama) from it. The possibilities to bore you (not to mention blow your tax dollars) are endless. And we could spice things up with a few Don Cherry quotes (“french guys wearing visors”) to boost the sagging ratings.
I’m just thankful there are no pressing issues facing the country, to allow the opposition parties to focus on critical items such as this. How would we steer the country, otherwise?

  20. In an earlier post Kate wrote: “If the talk on sports radio is any indication, a new demographic has been awakened in Canadian politics.”
Well, in the intermission before overtime tonight in the Canucks game, Ron Maclean stepped out and openly expressed disgust at politicians looking for personal gain at the expense of someone else, and he called this a “flashpoint” in this country.

  21. We need Doan to run for the House of Commons in the next election. Find a nice riding and parachute this guy into it. While at it, have Don Cherry stand for somewhere in Ontario.

  22. Ryan and Mary,
you’re missing the point. The PM said today that now we should let Hockey Canada get on with their job. I would rail against any party trying to use Doan or others for advantage. Doan is a hockey player. Let him play hockey period.
Just watched CPAC recap of the day. Conservative’s Chong, Poilievre and Boucher all threw up softballs to Nicholson. “Hair Boy” Rodriguez and “Answer the Question” Malo were vicious and made no sense. Malo was chased by reporters when he wouldn’t answer the question if he would step down under mere “allegations”. Great piece of tape if anyone catches it. Something tells me Malo won’t be in the Bloc front bench come Monday.

  23. All in all a bad joke, and the politicians that brought it on now have egg on their faces.
What’s really to bad is SH and crew missed the boat here by agreeing to this farce in the first place and should have condemned it from the get-go. I think the quebecers they were pandering to by doing this would have had more respect for them in the end .
Chalk that up as a bad judgement call..

  24. Has anyone noticed that the opposition ( because that’s truely what they are;..in opposition to Cananda)Havr gone completely off the rails lately?
    They attack out hockey players
They attack our Army and it’s leaders
They attack our industies and economy
    They attack consumers
Just who is the damn enemy here and whose interests are being protected by the opposition???

  25. Verily, WL, I hear the rumble too, and a lot of other people do too.
This whole Shane Doan thing, though, is going to backfire big-time for the Lib/left. It doesn’t hurt that this CPAC segment Kate linked to is an instant television classic, an absolute, flapping-on-the-pole whistling-amusement of a national-object-lesson.
Those with the now-generation-long “privelege to govern” mindset are clearly feeling empowered, and are undeniably emboldened by their massive and unprecedented Kyoto propaganda victory, but their coming-out party isn’t going to be as ga-la as advertised, and in fact their festivity is going to be their undoing. There’s just something about that peculiarily disturbing combination of “hands-on” and “didactic” that has to be seen to be truly believed. The more you see, the more you believe.
The, uh, manual lessson in the Doan case is that innocents are the ones who pay whenever addled statist ponces elevate themselves.
Shane Doan was alleged to have uttered a banned word seventeen months ago. He was cleared. He is well-respected by teammates, and coaches, and linesmen, and referees, and the people in his hometown.
All this is beside the point, though. Contestant number two, MALO: “Hockey Canada doesn’t have this answer about whether or not Mr. Doan said or didn’t say…ah…those remarks, but IT’S NOT THE POINT, the point is just to make it clear about why Hockey Canada decided to go ahead with Mr. Doan as a Captain while some people in Canada and in Quebec aren’t at ease with that choice.”
Contestant number three, GODIN, asked about that whole notion of “innocent until provent guilty”, responded: “Well, and I, and I agree to that, the only thing is, is what I want to say, that’s ah, the problem is, though, when we have this controversy going on, and they were making that appointment, did he ever, one question for example: Did he ever thought about it? What it would create? Don’t they think before they make appointment?”
Alright? See what he means? About appointments? Okay?
Contestant number one, Raymonde FALCO, also made clear that she has no idea whether or not Shane Doan uttered a banned word seventeen months ago; her point is that whether he did or not, and whether she knows that he did or not, it’s all irrelevent to THE issue: there’s a controversy pertaining to what he did or didn’t say. And inasmuch as it’s a national controversy, she and her statist associates are entitled to ask hockey people this questions: What attributes does Doan possess as a hockey player and a person? Is he necessarily the right choice for team captain? What does it say about Canadian hockey people that the controversy is ignored? And does everyone understand that, as a Liberal, she not a part of some Orwellian tribunal, but instead is of the opinion that…that…
Ah, to heck with it, let her explain:
Well, from my point of view, as a Liberal, I can say that we are not a tribunal, we’re not there to find out whether Mr. Doan said some certain things or did not say certain things. What we wanted to know was, what are the criteria, what are the factors, that made the, uh, sports association pick Mr. Doan as their captain? I think we have the right to ask those questions.
    Hnnnnnnkk. Pardon me.
    P.S. From Canadian Press:
OTTAWA — Hockey officals’ impassioned defense of Team Canada’s captain left an unimpressed Bloc Quebecois leader comparing Shane Doan to a ban robber and accusing him of racial profiling.

  26. “Has anyone noticed that the opposition ( because that’s truely what they are;..in opposition to Cananda)Havr gone completely off the rails lately?”
Yup, WL Mackenzie Redux, I’ve noticed. The Opposition is an eight- or ten-armed mutant, flailing their arms in every direction because they’re just so damned irritated, frustrated, and apoplectic they’re not in power anymore.
The mutant has the combined brain cells of an amoeba and the chronological age of two. That’s what two-year-olds do when they get MAD: madly flail their arms around and attack anyone they perceive to have slighted them.
But these guys are ELECTED MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT, who are paid handsomely by the taxpayer. It’s time for them to go!

  27. Who are the Real Rink Rats? The Bloc is irrelevant; The Gang Who Can’t Skate.
Here are the Real Rink Rats: MP Denis Hezbollah Coderre, STOPIGGY, Citoyen Dion; all left wingers; socialists. This pack tried to hide behind the Bloc; this Liberal Rat Pack used the Bloc to attack PM Harper using Doan’s alleged slur as a proxy.
The plot failed. The Red-Green Liberal Rat Pack was bammed by a Zamboni of Truth at the Blue line.
    Re-write headline:
Liberal politicians are the real rink rats
    …-
    Don Martin
    National Post
Politicians are the real rink rats
Doan exonerated as a worthy captain Canada
The offending quip, a slur muttered against an all-francophone lineup of officials late in a December, 2005 game in Montreal, was actually from Slovakian left-winger Ladislav Nagy, an admission that is expected to officially enter the court records during Doan’s defamation hearing against MP Denis Coderre. …-

  28. What a sideshow.
One blockhead, a socialist, and a red-green melonhead.
    Three ap-pea-sers in a pod.
    thanks Kate.

  29. BATB said: “Yup, WL Mackenzie Redux, I’ve noticed. The Opposition is an eight- or ten-armed mutant, flailing their arms in every direction because they’re just so damned irritated, frustrated, and apoplectic they’re not in power anymore.”
I think you’re probably onto something here…except the Block will NEVER be in power…..and in a realistic way, neither will the Dips…so I percieve this to be wild vindictive lashing-out at any target in a desparate attempt to get media attention.
We saw this opposition vindictiveness before when Bush put the Klintonista Dems out of power….they had expected to build a sixties counter culture dynasty …in opposition the first time in a decade, the months after Bush inauguration were just uninhibited hissing and spitting wild tantrum-tirades from Dems and Dem media…wild accusatory condemnations of evertything right of Trotsky…childish illtemper….on it went and it landed into the Hollywood Dem community where this Dem vindictive temper tantrum took on a new dimension….it got positively surreal with all sorts of hollywood crafted conspiracy and murder stories adding to the collective moan a whail comming from the elder dems like Kennedy and Shumer. Hollywood dems had Bush responsible for every crime in the past and future 200 years. It was an orgy of self indulgent myth spinning.
Ya I’ve seen this type of unhinged foamy-mouthed attack before…but in the Dems case it was by far more intelligent and grounded liberals than the current lot of Bolshevik comic book characters we have in opposition benches in this beleaguered nation.
Frankly, I have never seen a time when there are so many, irrational, extremist yappers on opposition benches all with cult-like dogmatics and all maliciously active in enternching some truely bad civilly destructive ideas….to legislate us into some nebulous green soviet antihill society.
And did I mention they are all completely uncivil and debased in their PR antics?
The Doan/Hilliar/CAF torture innuendo witch hunt is a prime example of the type of the degenerate flavor opposition politics has assumed. Is it surprising then that we will be soo watching parliament discuss an opposition tabled bill listing the “Sasquatch” as an endangered specoes?
It doesn’t have to be factual to be legislated these days.

  30. As I sit here Mr.Doan is filling the net in the game vs. Belarus. That is leadership and why he is the captain. What a bunch of grandstanding from this bunch!

  31. To make matters worse the silly #@&%@/#’s had the stupidity to inquire how many Francophones were on the team!! Since when is language a qualifier to play hockey?
The Bloc and the Dippers are the worst disgrace ever in the HOC, the Liberals are lost in their own mire.
Dumb and dumber, sad and sadder.
They’re a waste of time and space, in fact they’re. human waste.

  32. They are outraged. So what. No one cares anymore. Think of the outcome of their quest; Doan becomes a national hero and everyone wants to “dis a frog” to gain a little status.

  33. Great theatre…
The conservatives played the crappy cards they were dealt very well. The three stooges picked to rep theri parties were an embarrassment.
I can hardly wait until Nagy stands up in court and declares it was him that insulted the refs. Anyone want to bet the MSM will apologise to Mr. Doan?
    BTW…gotta love Mr. Doan’s reply…HATTRICK

  34. Its saturday night, I’ve watched the video. I’m just wondering if the panelists contracted syphylis in the national cafeteria.Syphilis can cause brain damage, and I’m sure brain damage is what this video shows.
I’m very sympathetic to people with such disabilities. And of course as the video show, brain damage sufferers don’t make a lot of sense at times, and as we see during most of the interview.
If they are not suffering from such an illness, well they can at the very least, sleep well, knowing, their performance will surely be remembered.
I, for one will remember the three, every time I wipe my ass. For at least a week or so, their words were THAT MOVING!
..a pathetic bunch of morons, all three!! Too bad that they got their fifteen minutes of fame, and f&cked it up. The poor dears.
Now their irrelevant rant,if you can seriously call it such, well their words are now in the PUBLIC RECORD! I wonder if their constituents are as unimpressed as I.
My hat goes to the interviewer. He’s the only one who seemed to still possess a brain.

  35. Just print a sign saying “Flicking frogs” and wait for the language Police to order you to make it bilingual with the french words twice a large.
These morons won’t even notice the irony in the Language laws , as for racism, ask my dad about it, he lived in Quebec as a aboriginal and they tried to force his father to covert the family name to french, even after he served in WW2 he left for Ontario to stop hearing the Drunken Stupid ingin slurs .
Quebecers haven’t seen racism , just wait until Sharia laws comes along after the Muslim out breed you, the stadiums will become taliban execusion grounds for those offending Allah or females showing skin in public.
That Hezbollah flag from last summers rally with Coderre all smiles, take note of the AK-47 being exhalted, is will be the last thing you see before the blindfold to behead you or shoot your head off.
