Martyn Burke says that the Public Broadcasting Service and project managers at station WETA in Washington, D.C., excluded his documentary, Islam vs. Islamists, from the series America at a Crossroads after he refused to fire two co-producers affiliated with a conservative think tank.
“I was ordered to fire my two partners (who brought me into this project) on political grounds,” Burke said in a complaint letter to PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supplied funds for the films.
Burke wrote that his documentary depicts the plight of moderate Muslims who are silenced by Islamic extremists, adding, “Now it appears to be PBS and CPB who are silencing them.”

Subtitled Voices From the Muslim Center, Burke says his film “attempts to answer the question: ‘Where are the moderate Muslims?’ The answer is, ‘Wherever they are, they are reviled and sometimes attacked’ ” by extremists.

That’s one hell of a commentary on the standards of modern journalism: not “Can you prove your argument?” but “Are your associates politically acceptable (to me)?”

Sad. If one is a “moderate Muslim” and has to cower and not be free to express views that go against archaic practices, many, if not all, firmly set in the stone age.
Irshad Manji is a prolific spokesperson for all moderate Muslims. She is amazing, let’s hope she gets through to enough within the “faith” to follow her courageous path.

Manji gets access to PBS airwaves because she’s a proven and trusted leftist. Gaffney is denied access because he’s a conservative. Quelle surprise!

I saw Manji give a talk at the Vancouver Public Library. The lecture room had tables where people were selling different products that they thought might appeal to the audience. Among those items being sold were DVD’s of ‘Loose Change’ and anti-American, anti-Western pamphlets. Not one word from Manji about those.
After the talk, she answered questions from the audience. She gave a full five minutes to a 9-11 denier to rant about nefarious ‘false flag’ ops and didn’t attempt to refute her. After the woman finished, Manji allowed her to give out her web address to the audience and then Manji repeated it herself for anyone who may not have heard it clearly.
So yeah, she may get grief from islamic extremists, but that doesn’t mean she’s on ‘our side’. The enemy of my enemy isn’t always my friend.
