Now that Stéphane Dion is teaming up with the Green Party let’s have a look at what Green candidate Kevin Potvin has to say:
When we fight to remove Coke machines from our elementary schools, to filter pornographic web sites from our public library computers, to restrict admittance to excessively violent films in our theatres, and to ban cigarette and alcohol advertising from cultural and public events, we are totally of like mind and purpose with the core of Islamist terrorist cells. We fight a common enemy: the cultural products of irresponsible corporations.

Here are a couple paragraphs from the NatPost piece.
The editorial, entitled, A Revolting Confession, was first published on Nov. 28, 2002 in an alternative newspaper, The Republic of East Vancouver, which Kevin Potvin founded.
“When I saw the first tower cascade down into that enormous plume of dust and paper, there was a little voice inside me that said, ‘Yeah!’ When the second tower came down the same way, that little voice said, ‘Beautiful!’ When the visage of the Pentagon appeared on the TV with a gaping and smoking hole in its side, that little voice had nearly taken me over, and I felt an urge to pump my fist in the air,” Mr. Potvin wrote in the editorial.
While the watermelon analogy is certainly appealing, to see the true roots of the greens, one has to look to 1920’s Germany. Here there was a resurgence of nature worship with groups of idealistic young people communing with nature and planning a society which was more in touch with nature. These groups eventually became part of the National Socialist movement and if one neglects some minor bits of unpleasantness that happened from 1939 onwards, the Nazi regime was one of the most progressive in the world. The Nazi’s were responsible for the first large scale antismoking efforts backed by government. They instigated screening of the population for various cancers and were the first to clean up industries so that workers would not be exposed to carcinogens. This was all accomplished under the benevolent eye of the ascetic vegetarian non-smoking teetotalling Fuhrer.
Communists, in contrast, were environmental vandals as any examination of the history of industry in the former USSR or their post-war satellites will demonstrate. Hitler’s nemesis, Stalin, was a heavy drinking cigar smoking paranoid carnivore. I can’t imagine current Green’s having much in common with Stalin, but I can see them very easily going the route of Hitler.
In contrast to WLM, when the next election comes around I’ll be putting swastikas on green election signs, not the hammer and sickle.
Kevin Potvin is not an abberation, but the norm among radical environmentalists. These individuals view the vast majority of humanity as parasites on Gaia that should be exterminated. They have a very distorted weltanschauung in which nature corresponds to the garden of Eden which has been corrupted by western civilization. They are thus in support of any organization that seeks to overthrow western civilization. What is most amusing about their view of nature is that what they consider “natural” is most often nature that has been tamed by the hand of man and they can’t cope in true wilderness. They are profoundly anti-individualistic. Let them align themselves with islamofascists, then round them up as enemies of the state. Hard for me to say as a libertarian, but the “Greens” are probably the most anti-democratic group in existence and should be dealt with accordingly.
P for Potvin; P for perversion. Chucker said it.
MayDion, aka the Red-Green Show; “partnership with perversion”.
Lower than low; the metamorphosis of the Liberal Party continues: From corruption to perversion.

“To the few Liberals who do read this blog: what the hell are you thinking? How badly have you wrecked your moral compasses that you should make partnership with perversion?” …-

How many contradictions can you spot below ??
” ..The upcoming elections are fueling a lot of rhetoric as politicians try to “out green” one another, Hargrove said.”
[So, out-greening is rhetoric.]
““Politicians are running with it now because Canadians are saying it’s a key issue in the upcoming election and it just infuriates me,” Hargrove said in a wide-ranging address to delegates.”
[And, Canadians infuriate Hargrove with stupid thinking about green]
““We stand to lose 150,000 jobs in our auto industry if the insanity of this environmental movement is allowed to continue.””
[And Hargrove admits Kyoto will kill 150,000 Ont jobs]
“Canada is only responsible for about two per cent of the world’s total greenhouse gas production and shutting down the entire country would barely make an impact, Hargrove said.”
[Hargrove insists Kyoto is dumb]
“Still, Hargrove said the union is supportive of the Kyoto Accord — as long as timetables are flexible enough for industries to meet them.”
[From other side of mouth, Hargrove now likes Maurice Strong]
“Hargrove invited Ontario’s Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty to deliver a speech at the conference and said he was impressed by McGuinty’s recent statement that the auto industry shouldn’t necessarily phase out gas guzzlers like SUVs because, realistically, they’re not going away.”
[But Suzuki and Gore say SUVs are toast]
“McGuinty, who has said the industry should instead focus on innovation and deliver a vehicle that’s big and clean, didn’t shy away from promoting a green agenda Friday — saying the auto sector can survive while appeasing environmentalists.”
[McGuinty says big ok. But Maurice Strong’s Kyoto and Suzuki’s Kyoto say even one small car per family is too much]
THE ABOVE IS TOO MUCH !! Too much hypocracy.
Mo’s and Dion’s and May’s Kyoto will devastate Ontario’s Auto Sector. Pure and simple.
McGuinty knows it.
Layton knows it.
Hargrove knows it.
Dion knows it.
Suzuki knows it.
Maurice Strong knows it.
But they see PM Harper as both the enemy and the saviour of the auto sector. Can you say “painted into a corner” ??
You can say PM Harper is on the side of Canadians.
You can say all the others belong to a cult.
Halarious !!
me no dhimmi posted the following quote from Kevin Potvin:
“When I saw the first tower cascade down into that enormous plume of dust and paper, there was a little voice inside me that said, ‘Yeah!’ When the second tower came down the same way, that little voice said, ‘Beautiful!’ When the visage of the Pentagon appeared on the TV with a gaping and smoking hole in its side, that little voice had nearly taken me over, and I felt an urge to pump my fist in the air,”
Someone needs to print up thousands of copies of this assholes comments on bumper sticker paper so that Green party signs can be augmented with additional information on the political views of the party come election time. This guy has declared himself to be an enemy of western civilization and should go on a list of people who deserve no protection from police or anyone else. I don’t know what he looks like, but if I did, and saw him being mugged, I would just walk on by.
On 11/9/2001, my first impression of what happened was that someone really utilized one of the means of mass murder without guns that I’d been documenting since starting to fight C68. I didn’t seem anything beautifull in the site of the WTC going down, but just a bad feeling that we were in for a time of dictatorship in response to the event. I no longer fly much after 2001 as I don’t like to be unarmed. Pre-treatment with antipsychotics allows me to get through airport security without pounding the shit out of moronic rentacops but I now drive long distances a lot more than I used to. European trips will have to be delayed until such time that I have weeks to spare for an ocean voyage. It wouldn’t bother me in the least if every arab country became a glass parking lot if that’s what it took to get previous freedoms back.
the green piples who are wit ‘lizbeth may are now wit us. dis man potvin , who is not french , is not represent the piples who wit us and the khadrs is not like to see da twin towers fall with a cheer. da green pardy and the liberal pardy will win election by elping the piples of the left enjoy the disaster of the right , dis mr , ‘arper is lie republican and only care that piples are not killed .
sure dis ‘lissbet may not win , but like the day that the liberal pull their candidate to make dat loser joe the clark win in calgary we will make dis pet tard mack kay loss his own place in the historic shft left. the liberal piples are now firmly in dis camp of mssr trudeau and mssr hulk the hogan castro an move the moos left what can happen.
Borat Dion.
I have the feeling that Liberals are unconsiously laying the ground work for sitting out the next term or two in the wilderness of those who “also ran”.
The Greens? How many divisions do they have?
Dion and May have made the non story of the day. If you look at the election results from last year in Central Nova, the Conservatives are first with just over 17000 votes, NDP second just over 13000, Liberals at around 10000, Greens in the wilderness. Remove the Liberal Candidate the votes are not likely to go to the greens, and much more likely to go the the Conservatives and NDP. Perhaps they just stay home. The only thing this accomplishes perhaps is to allow the NDP to defeat Peter McKay, and even that isn’t a given. Other than cheap short term publicity, I’m not sure what this does for Dion.
If I were Stephen Harper I’d be spoiling for an election against Dion, but every day he grows weaker and looks dumber, so waiting for an election is a very good tactic.

Canadians did die on 9/11. The widows were in Ottawa to try to convince the liberals to vote for their terrorism act, but failed. Iggy made a very unkind stmt re the widows. CBC had a clip of Potvin on tonight and showed his bookstore. Looks like May has lost her appeal with the media, and they are going after the Green Party policies. Remember, the Green Party of Canada is aligned with all the Green Partys and take their orders from Europe. We might see less of May, on TV as the darling of the environment due to this alliance. How so many liberals could come on tv today and with a straight face say this is a good move by Dion. Maybe we should all donate to the Bloc candidate in his riding, and defeat Dion. I do feel sorry for all the voters in Central Nova who have just marked an X beside the word Liberal for years, with no thought to who was running. They will have to think this time before voting or stay home. Remember, 200,000 conservatives stayed home in Alberta last provincial election. Voters do speak and sometimes the answer is NO.
Dion better do a major purchase of duct tape for green members and candidates. May hates the liberal party.
Who feels like kicking some green party ass!
I DO!

Loki, your post at 10:50 was bang on..Should have left it at that. El Al has done more than anyone to abate this scourge of air travel, Canada and the US are safe areas for air flight..driving that may be a different story. But, I digress.
Did you ever think for an instant in your life, that the Liberal party under Dion, their views amplified for the public too see and their spinners to spin. Would have the capacity to make Jack Layton seem moderate by example? Yet, this is the new reality. In my life I never thought for an instant they could be so completely incompetent and eunuch like. Yet, it is what it is. Potvin his moronic views, and no doubt equally idiotic like minded minions, all have the unfortunate delusion of adequacy, and a unquenchable desire for power and the burning hot glare of the media’s light. I trust they will continue on their path. Hope they take the CBC with them.
Cheers

Harper needs to take care that he doesn’t wait too long. There are serious rumblings now from the Ignatief camp about a potential coup d’etat. May is the Green poisonous worm/parasite from the apple Orchard inserted into the host Liberal Party by the owner of the Orchard.
Citoyen Dion bit on the poisoned apple; has swallowed the poisoned apple, and, the poisoned worm.
May’s betrayal of the Green Party is Citoyen Dion’s quid pro quo for Orchard’s support which helped Citoyen Dion to become Liberal Party leader. Dion had no choice in the matter.
May’s paranoia goes back years:
In 1986, Elizabeth May was appointed Senior Policy Advisor to Tom McMillan, Environment Minister in the Brian Mulroney [Progressive Conservative] cabinet. …
Vengeance is ours saith MayOrchard; to ‘ell with Dion.

The move was a reprisal, May says
OTTAWA–Green Party Leader Elizabeth May has vowed to make Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay pay for a controversial decision to merge the former Progressive Conservative party with the right-wing Canadian Alliance.
May told the Star yesterday she plans to build a political coalition that will punish MacKay for breaking a promise not to sell out the old PC party, which he merged with the Canadian Alliance in 2003. …-

green=communism when these socialist fools take all they can we will at some point have to take it back. it may be very ugly.
Is David Orchard giving advice to Steffi too?
Wouldn’t surprise, he’s in a permanent state of anger at MacKay and that can lead to all sorts of irrational behavior.
Gotta admit, Lizzie and Steffi make a fine looking pair, a lot of the same attributes.
Listening to them at their news conference your left wondering if they think we all fell off turnip trucks, that is if they think rationally at all.
The folks in Central Nova had better be prepared to be brainwashed by Lizzie’s verbal diarrhea, better stalk up on the Immodium, she’s sure to give them the runs.
As for Buzzy Hargrove, wonder who’s going to get the leather jacket this time? It’ll be a tough call, doubt Lizzie or Borat will qualify.
It didn’t work for Martin, kind of the kiss of death.

Okay, so what’s in this for the Liberals? Why shack up with a party full of fringe lunatics? Is the plan here to try to squeeze the NDP by assisting a party that draws votes from them?
If that’s the idea, Dion is a dunce: helping the Greens just splits the left wing vote three ways and pushes the Liberal Party further off the political center where the votes are, and cedes political turf to the Conservatives. If he had any sense, he’d realize he has to outflank the Tories, not the dippers.
But I may be being overly clever: Mr Dion may just be a true believer who is riding a bandwagon that has already gone off the road into a ditch, if not a cliff. Looks good on him, too.
I kept hearing how Ms. May
was the charismatic new leader of the Green Party. I have seen a couple of her interviews and listened to her on Adler yesterday. Not at all impressive. Yesterday was an improvement, none of the school-girl giggles. Charles was just ripping her and she was going a little nuts turning up her volume.
It is unfortunate for the Green party, she just made them more irrelevant. Bet they wish they could turn the clock back and not elect her as their fearless leader.
Ms. May’s insistence on pairing Harper-Bush shows how shallow she truly is. My prediction, the bigger her platform this election the more the Green vote will suffer.
Anyone here here think Mr. Harper will let her participate in the Leaders debates?

More Dion-May Bewilderement
Like many of you, I have been figuring out all the complications and permutations of the stunning May-Dion axis that has now emerged to steamroll the Tories out of government. For example, by any normal standard, the Green Party would not be allowed to participate in any debates. But, being a charitable lot, many Canadians under intense media pressure were prepared to the let the Green Party participate. Now, that’s clearly impossible since the Green Party is just an extension of the Liberal Party: the al-quaeda wing, as we discovered yesterday. It would be obscenely unfair to let the Liberal Party have two debaters in the debate.
Just imagine those segments where they debate one-on-one against each other…
May: Well, I think you’re pretty hunky.
Dion: My wife will kill me, but I’d plough into an office tower for you. (more) …-

Joe said: “Dion and May announced the approaching demise of the Liberal Party of Canada and it is such a big event the Libs are going to destroy the Greens too. ”
Right on bro! That sentiment bears repeating because this is exactly what happened. By abandoning the center and throwing all their electoral fortunes on the radical fringe of “cult” politics, dystopian DeYawn just handed Harper the election as the only centrist party.
Conversely the Greens who were always viewed with suspicion by the centrist voter now come off as corrupt backroon deal makers as well as crypto-communists.
There is no time before election and no subtle way for LPC manderins to quietly “frog-walk” citoyen Dijon and his “only I can save the planet” hysterics to the exist door without attracting undue attention.
Snookered by the radical left in the party…delicious irony.
Loki: National socialism, statist central socialism ( soviet communism) are very similar in practical application…the common thread is the government’s prime agenda is to control, restrict, prohibit and ban…this is what enforced Green ideology amounts to. These are negative enforcements that fly against natural civil freedom. In the end this kind of state will fail because it is diametrically opposed to the nature of the human spirit of self respect, dignity and personal gain…these states always become tyranical and genocidal . Remember the soviets killed more of their own citizens than the Nazis did.
As all radical civilly repressive ideological regimes before it, if Green is ever empowered to govern ( rule?) it will gain enemies and then the green state spends as much political energy protecting itself by arresting and liquidating dissent as it does on propaganda to shore up its failings in the public eye and keep dissent from growing.
Green ideology is also not only civilly repressive but , as you say Loki, led by either starry-eyed ideologues or cloistered academics who subscribe to the transnational progressivist ideals of desolving the sovereign nation state for global governance…as Green transnationalism advances, the empowered individual, liberal democracy and national sovereignty must be dissolved.
Until the greens can field a cohesive political platform that is civilly responsible, constitutionally sound, economically benificial they will wallow in moonbat land…and until the day when they attract candidates from the political center, they will be mired in the statist left baggage the moonbats that flock to their party now carry with them.
With May’s actions we can also see they are complete political whores with no moral sense or conviction of principle …to enter alliance with the most corrupt kleptocratic cabal in Canada’s history (LPC) without blinking an eye.
Even taliban Jack hasn’t the degenerate bearing it takes to actually join the big red crime family.
I figure that this deal between Eliza May and What-are-you-thinking? Dion is the latest nail in the LPC coffin. It seems like Dion is in a free-falling meltdown, grabbing at any branch on his way down–and May seems to be the flimsy one he’s desperately hanging onto.
Years ago, when my family and I were spending a few weeks in Cape Breton, we stumbled on Elizabeth May’s family restaurant, in an old fishing boat, sitting on the shore of a Cape Breton lake (‘can’t remember which one). The host was an elderly-ish man, quite probably her dad. There was nothing memorable about it, except the setting which was typically “Cape Breton,” windswept, rolling grassy hills, sun sparkling on blue water, big sky above, etc.
I’m struck by the fact that the former leader of the Green Party, Jim Harris, is an alumnus of Lakefield College School, an institution which has had a great deal of support from Andre Desmarais–one of Power Corps’ CEOs and son of Paul Desmarais (no references to him now on the Lakefield site…hmmm…there used to be lots…). And that Elizabeth May and her family have tight connections with Bill Clinton.
Any chance that David Suzuki (whose Foundation boasts Mo Strong as a Member of the Board) and Al Gore have their fingers somewhere in the Green Party Pie?
Maz2,
You nailed it. I had forgotten that she worked in the PC government….this is the old battle continuing…no grand principle here, this is the old PC crowd. Next shoe to drop, Joe Clark campaigning or endorsing May.
Re the quote of May and Dion in the debate….coffee through nose funny….thanks
The May’s restaurant was in Margaree Cove, Cape Breton. Liz’s parents were affluent peace activists and she was born in Conneticut, which means she’s got dual Canadian-American citizenship. She and Citoyen Dion make a great couple.
The more these privileged and entitled politicos pretend to be championing the “rights” and aspirations of the little guy, the victim, the more queazy I get.
They’ll gladly empty the bank accounts of the middle class to make themselves and their carbon-credit, open-your-account-here-in-my company friends, who are all flying around the planet to promote their get-rich-fast schemes, filthy rich.
Why are we being asked to subsidize their affluent lifestyles, again?
Oh, because Liza May and co. are so concerned and caring?
Right.
All the Liberals need to put them right out of business is Joe Who? and David Orchard crawling out from under their rocks to really seal their fate.
Their mutual disdain for MacKay could be an irresistible lure.
I’m too shocked to even type!
All this time, the real culprits have been Irresponsible Global Corporations.
Kevin Potvin has really set us straight on this one.
Thanks, Kevin (and Kate)!
Liz,
Orchard is already involved….he delivered delegates to Dion, and you know he extracts a price for doing that.
Orchard is trying to stay in the background but he is there.
Clark…might be tough, and certainly not smart, for him to openly defy, but nobody ever said Joe does whats smart.
Orchard has definitley extracted his price, May’s quote shows what she is up to. This is personal and ancient and Dion allowed himslef to get drawn into it.
I give Dion 89 days now before he finds there is an open revolt. Money will dry up, he has a Party constitutional problem, they are supposed to be in all ridings.
If an isolated decision you will get advisors bolting. I am sure Count Iggy and the Raegunners will be organizing this weekend. There plans to take over after Dion is toasted will be laid to waste because there will be nothing left to take over.
Look for an “intervention”
Cal2: Just so you know, I find your Borat Dion “translations” hilarious. LOL every time.
loki | April 13, 2007 10:50 PM — A helluva good post. Your premise that the swastika is more apt than the hammer/sickle for the Greens is astute!

In our neck of the woods(West Van.-Garibaldi)The green party Canidate was the same clown that headed up the “save the bluffs” controversy over the safety upgrade of hi-way 99.Potvin is just one of many loons in the green party. We can only hope they, at least, use recycled tin foil to line their hats. The lower-case-liberals have found their soulmates.
My daughter recently became old enough to vote. I have voted in every school board, civic, provincial and federal election for which I was enfranchised. My father fought in the Canadian Army during the Second World War and he told me that voting is the oxygen of democracy. If people do not participate in the democratic process democracy will lose its strength and eventually suffocate.
My daughter is concerned about the environment. Although I would not vote for the one-trick “Green” party I thought if environmental issues could get my daughter excited about the democratic process it might be worthwhile for my daughter to give the Green party a chance.
When we scratched the surface and actually looked at the people and policies of the Green party it is shocking. Selected candidates such as Potvin cheered and thought it was “beautiful” when innocent Americans and Canadians were murdered on 9/11. Another article I saw on this site showed Potvin saying the terrorists were the good guys and that islamofascist goals would be good for Canadians! (I’ll pick my own, very different goals, thank you very much Mr. Potvin!)
Watching the Green party and the Liberal party ganging up to defeat our anti-terrorist foreign minister is no accident. I would not be the least bit surprised if islamofascist political and financial support is one of the drivers of this unholy union. The liberal convention had numerous and organized “don’t vote for Rae because his wife is a Jew” surges. Newspapers suggested that Dion’s “principled” decision to force out any Liberal MPs who voted to keep strong anti-terrorist laws in force was payback for “ethnic” support at the Liberal leadership convention.
The finally irony came when Miss come what May, leader of the Green party said that Dion who saw emissions go up by 30% on his watch would be a good Prime Minister with respect to the environment shows how much integrity she and her party have. Zero.
My daughter is now anxious to vote but not for Greens or the Reds or the reds. Thanks again, dad! You guys were the greatest generation.
the name escapes me someone help me out, he was a founding member of Greenpeace until a few years ago. He stated that the Enviro. Groups have been taken over or infiltrated by radicals under the guise of saving the enviroment.
Sound Familiar??
Hey baby it’s the 1930s all over again…..and the Comintern has ordered its agents and supporters in the West to align with the Nazis in common cause against the West!
Remarkable!
Stephen, the party is beyond even organizing a two car funeral. Can’t imagine Iggy and Rae are the best of friends after the fiasco they called a Leadership Convention.
It’s there for all to see. They are in the worst mess in memory.
Often think Chretien is not helping. He’s enjoying the whole thing because Martin blew it and will wear the demise of the Party. The Shawinigan Mauler will go down as the last Leader to win three Back to back Majorities, thus his only legacy. Of course we know there is another one he’s been able to weasel out of so far.
Chretien will be the last Liberal to win a majority. Martin will be the last Liberal to win a minority. Canada has no choice but turn Tory blue unless they are ready to really stomach the true believers in the NDP, which would be a really bad situation.

I was just thinking… if this type of “deal” had occurred between
May and the Prime Minister, the press would have been all over
“Evil Puppetmaster” Harper and his diabolical master plan.
Interestingly, everyone, except perhaps Chantal Hebert, just assumes
Dion is a lightweight who doesn’t have the chops to get a couple
moves ahead of the opposition.
Which sounds ominously like his death-knell to me.

Dumont says Quebec should consider signing Constitution
TROIS RIVIERES, Que. (CP) – Quebec’s new Opposition leader says he’s ready to launch new talks to enable the province to sign the 1982 Canadian Constitution.
Action democratique du Quebec Leader Mario Dumont says the error of 1982 must be corrected gradually.
“If Ottawa is ready to open the debate on spending power, (Quebec’s) national assembly should have an initiative to facilitate its inscription in the Canadian Constitution,” Dumont told supporters Saturday. …-

Having read the article wherein Dumont is sending a clear message to the PMO: It is go. Go, now.
When reading the e-mail message sent out by/from PM Harper after the Dumont win, these eyeballs widened at one word in that messsage; collaboration. That was the first shoe; Dumont’s speech is the second shoe dropping. It’s a go.
PM Harper knows this: Walk softly and carry a big Quebec stick. Where does this come from? From the memoirs of the late Senator Grattan O’Leary, erstwhile Editor of the then Ottawa Journal. O’Leary was born on the Gaspe coast; he knew Quebec politics.
There must be no temporizing. Remember the Stanfield fiasco.
Go. Now.

What is really amazing is that Dion, who is always accusing Prime Minister, of being an “control-freak” went ahead and overruled 6 of his Liberal MPs from Nova Scotia and 5 Nova Scotia Liberal senators, who opposed the deal.
Liberals mixed on pact
Insiders said all six Liberal MPs and five senators from Nova Scotia initially opposed signing a non-aggression pact with May. But they were over-ruled by Dion who informed them Thursday evening of his decision.
Tony said… “What is really amazing is that Dion, who is always accusing Prime Minister, of being a “control-freak” went ahead and overruled 6 of his Liberal MPs from Nova Scotia and 5 Nova Scotia Liberal senators, who opposed the deal.”
That’s leadership, right? Canadians will see more of it from Dion.
ET, for a fight between the Liberals and NDP, this sure is getting a lot of attention from the CPC and their supporters. I don’t know that I’d term it a fight – probably more accurately a challenge to the NDP to do something a bit less partisan for once, to prove why they’re in this business.
I do find the lack of criticism of Layton pretty curious in these environs. I would expect that around here he’d be seen as even more loathesome than Mr. Dion.
Potvin is the first candidate my wife and I ever considered voting for. We’d rescheduled our lives to help put him in Ottawa. It’s stuff like this fiasco and slander against such a prominent member of my commununity as Kevin Potvin, that explains why we have no options on election day.

Not much else to say other than you’re an idiot. Why don’t you find one of the dead families from the WTC buildings and tell them you and your whack job wife’s opinion of Potvin, I’m sure it will go well.
