Time for parents to get into the act and know–and have a say–in what their children are learning about sex at school? It sure is, but good luck.
As both a parent who has tried–complete stonewalling by the system–and a teacher in the system, it’s a no-go. E.g., To my knowledge, a principal once told his staff that, as a pro-gay presentation in the school was in line with board policy, he was choosing not to send home any notification of the presentation. A teacher at the meeting pointed out that field trips are also part of board policy and that notification has to go out. Nonetheless, the parents were kept in the dark.
This truly is a conspiracy: the UN, full of feminist, pro-homosexual NGOs, has been pushing for an open sexual agenda, including no-go zones for parents regarding their children’s sexuality (abortion, of course, included), for decades.
Like a whole lot of other unpleasantness, Canadians are woefully ignorant of the Utopia planned for us by the lefty nihilists, who fill the ranks of the Liberal and NDP parties, the MSM, our courts, and most of the other public institutions in this benighted country.
As far as I’m concerned, on the public front, only the Conservatives stand between us and a total meltdown.

Many years ago, I had a girlfriend whose mother was a total left-wing, new-age, feminazi (and a lawyer to boot).
When my girlfriend was four years old, her had mother decided that, in keeping with the leftist ideal of being totally “open” with her daughter and doing away with all of those “old-fashioned” ideals of being uptight about the topic of sex, she was going to teach her daughter EVERYTHING.
So, starting at the tender age of four, this girl started getting regular and extremely graphic talks about sex from her mother. Oral sex, sodomy, extreme detail about touch, tastes, smells…I don’t want to go any further – but the detail would make anyone squirm.
The child responded to one of these stories with, “That sounds gross.” Her mother replied, “But, it’s not…it’s a wonderful thing…and lots of fun.”
Of course, this mother thought that she was doing a great thing…being totally open with her child…casting away those inhibiting, old-fashioned concepts of so-called “morality.”
At the age of six, this girl was raped by her 16 year-old baby-sitter. Sure, she went through the whole gambit of feeling devastated, ashamed, and that it was her fault. But the part that made it the worst: Her mother – the person she trusted more than anyone in the world – had told her that this was a wonderful and good thing. So, obviously, this little girl thought, something must be wrong with her.
She never told her mother the story…at first because of the shame she felt in not finding it as fun as she thought it was supposed to be…and later because she got over it and didn’t see the point in bringing it up.
Every child psychologist and their dog knows that you are NEVER supposed to talk to children about sex until they show an interest in learning. And when they ask questions, you should answer directly only that which was asked. Volunteering extra information means you run the risk of coloring their views before they are ready to know.
And yet the state insists on going against that which most people know by instinct. There’s an agenda there…I just don’t get it.

What Brock et al are suggesting is the total disintegration of the family unit, because sex as such has become ‘delinked’ from the procreative aspect.
How about parents tell Brock Chisholm et al. that we will “protect our children by force if necessary” if the police are too lazy to protect them?

The only solution to this sort of social engineering is to change the way we do public education.
I think a system should be set up whereby parents are given an education voucher,so to speak,and are entitled to spend it at the institute of learning of their choice.
The present school system as we now know it would be dismantled …taken out of the public domain;though licenced and overseen by gov’t.
Set curriculum and grade levels would of course have to be adhered to.
Teachers would have to become contract workers and compete for work thereby removing the questionable agendas and overwhelming political inflences of entrenched idealogical unions. (This may sound harsh but I’ve been a contract worker all my adult life and it has many advantages…self responsability to name one.)
A local elected parent’s advisory board needs to be set up with discretionary powers as to curriculum content etc.
Differences of opinion would be dealt with through a board consisting of three representatives: one from each of the the teacher’s,parents and gov’t.Each having one vote.
Finally parents need to get away from the TV screen and put more time into knowing just what is being taught their children…the holders of their own biological lineage.
Lastly of course parents have the right to home-school.

My kids attend(ed) Marion M. Graham Collegiate in Saskatoon. Every grade nine newbie class gets the pleasure of a “gay” presentation. The kids are told by the presenters, that at least 10% of them are gay, and that virtually all the rest are bi-sexual.
As my son put it, “that means that we have 100 gay people in our school, and most of the rest of us swing both ways … yeah right!”
I’ve got absolutely nothing against homosexuality or virtually any other alternative sexual life-style … but at least stick to the bloody truth. It’s so typical of the left, and always has been, to create false realities then force them either by law or coercion down society’s throat.
My son comes home and tells me (he always tells me everything that happens, what a great guy!) that they studied the crusades and he asked the teacher why there are no crusades happening these days…
Her reply was, because we live in democracy and not under the rule of the king…
He went to school today with firm resolve to continue the conversation and explain to the teacher, that there are no Christian crusades, because Christianity has learned its lessons, progressed in its views and became a non-militant religion, as opposed to Islam, which is as militant, as back at the times of crusades.

I think that (as long as it is age appropriate) there is nothing really wrong with teaching sex education at any age. I’m not saying that anyone should be explicit, but by the time a child hits pre-school they have some interest and are getting information from other children or other bad sources.
In the world we live in, I’m starting to think that it is criminal not to include your children in sexual education when they’re in elementary school; it is not uncommon for children to be raped and they need to be unashamed to come forward, and children as young as 8 and 9 start “playing around” with sex.
Maybe I’m just an old reactionary but why should kids be taught sex education in schools where the parents have essentially no input into the subject matter?
Isn’t it the parents responsibility to educate their children in social issues?
I don’t think it matters whether it is in schools or not as long as the child learns from someone who is comfortable with the subject material …
Churches could probably supply their own Sex Educator who fit more in line with the subject matter they felt comfortable with …

The thing for people like this to remember is that sex ed in the schools is now indoctrination and part of the political agenda of the Left, which wishes to do away with restraints of any kind on personal freedom. Harm to others? What harm? (Telling kids exactly how to do it and how to contact groups with people interested in doing it with them is the kind of thing I’m talking about. Certain people noticed at the time that we were not really changing to a society that would embrace multiple value systems. These statements demonstrate the views of some of the most extreme on the left who seem interested in attacking the family. Not all on the left are quite this extreme.
Most people would characterize my family and I as among the more conservative and strict within the Christian faith (Historical Fundamentalism). Therefore, the teachings that are in my home would certainly be a target for those who are promoting the types of views described within this article.
I saw the seeds of this type of thinking several years ago while I was attending University. I understood then as well as now the Scriptural principle of the Laws of the Harvest: 1) you reap what you sow, 2) the harvest comes later than the sowing, 3) the harvest always comes, and 4) the amount in the harvest is significantly greater than the amount sowed.
We chose several years ago to home-school all our 7 children. There was a time where we needed to send the children to a private Christian school for a few months while my wife was ill; none of our children have ever been under the influence of a government school. Some of us within the home-schooling community seldom refer to the government run schools as public schools: we feel they no longer reflect the wishes of many parents and therefore should be referred to as government schools as opposed to public schools. The comments quoted above are reasons why: the type of thinking reflects certain extreme elements within the professional educational community who are paid by the government but are not really relective of what a majority of parents or the public want. It is also true that the level of Scripture that is taught to our children is not what most parents (the public) want for their children so the option of home-schooling seemed and continues to seem the best to us. It allows us to decouple our children from the influences of the government run schools, it is more economical than a private school, and we are not caught in that difficult in-between space of holding 3 views in tension: 1) holding and practicing our convictions without compromise, 2) trying to get along with our neighbours and not be “forcing our beliefs….” and 3) not having the beliefs of others “forced” upon our children.
The phrase “the ways of the elders” intrigues me. Almost without exception, in a traditional society “elders” refers to males who are leaders. I take my role as the leader of my family quite seriously. The part that intrigues me the most is that the enemies of the traditional family also recognize the role of the father in this matter. The Scripture describes a time near the time of the end that indicates fathers will have their hearts turned to their own children. We train our children in such a way that they can be a blessing wherever they go.
It seems to me that we are not yet at the point where wholesale numbers within our culture wish to set aside this “social experiment” and return to our more traditional past. It seems that more will be “forced” upon them by certain government social experimenters.

Homeschooling is still an option for some.Reform party introduced an idea of being able to ‘shop’ for the best school and ‘spend’ your education ‘credits’ at the school of your choice.Needless to say the unions didn’t go for it. It might amount to a private school type system, but that would ensure that the teachers know that the parent’s have a choice and input into the agenda instead of parent’s being at the mercy of the left-elite boards.
