Happy Hell Year

In Thailand

Six nearly simultaneous bombs exploded in the Thai capital late Sunday, killing at least two people, injuring 26 and prompting the city to cancel its major New Year’s Eve celebrations just as revelers had begun to gather ahead of the countdown.
Just after midnight, two more bombs went off near Central World Plaza, the sprawling mall in downtown Bangkok where the largest public festivities were to take place, the iTV television network reported. Eight people were injured in the later blasts, iTV reported.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombings, which capped a year of unrest in Thailand, including a military coup three months ago and a mounting Muslim insurgency in its southernmost provinces.

  1. Not to be mr paranoid here but think about the following, the Al Quaeda modus was to try the airline plot in Asia first.
So, although there are reasons for the local action, meaning local insurgency, could this have been a dry run for how they will carry it out.
    Just a 2006 paranoid thought.

  2. What are they seething about now? The Thais have caved in to the Religion of Pieces in every possle way and yet the Head Choppers continue with the bombings. What gives?

  3. Uh, the Thais don’t seem to think that the Islamic troublemakers in the south of Thailand are responsible for these bombings. I tend to agree – it is quite likely that sympathizers to ousted PM Thaksin may be behind these bombings. They’re probably Buddhist, not Moslem. Sorry.

  4. There probably getting assistance in Kelantan (Malysia’s border province)Kelantanese Muslims are fanatical, trust me, I lived there 2 years.

  5. In other terrorism news ETA has begun setting off bombs again. Noone cares about that, they’re catholic.

  6. Jose,
The Basques are not a catholic terrorist group. They are an ethnic (i.e. race-based) terrorist/separatist group in the same way that the FLQ was here in Canada. Their religion wasn’t relevant to the equation. Their goal wasn’t to attack all people not catholic (the victims are also catholic) but to separate the country on racial lines.
It was an obvious difference to me and I assume other reasonable people. I guess being a liberal wrecks logical facilites…
As for these types of terrorist groups, they too need to be hunted down and killed.

Then you would probably know that Muslims would have no reason at all to sympathize with ex PM Thaksin’s cause, who they consider their enemy given that he is the one that sent in the military against them and signed on with Bush to fight Muslims around the planet.
The bombings in Bangkok are not very likely to have anything to do with “Muslims” … My wife it Thai, and keeps up with all the latest news from the region, and no one seriously suspects Muslims in this case.
