Baker suggested that the committee’s recommendations are affected by politics.

Peretz: French UNIFIL say will fire at IAF overflights
Haaretz ^ | October 16, 2006 | Gideon Alon
Posted on 10/16/2006 4:43:03 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative
Commanders of the French contingent of the United Nations force in Lebanon have warned that they might have to open fire if Israel Air Force warplanes continue their overflights in Lebanon, Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday.
Peretz said that nevertheless, Israel would continue to patrol the skies over Lebanon as long as United Nations resolution 1701 remained unfilfilled, adding that such operations were critical for the country’s security, especially as the abducted IDF soldiers remain in Hezbollah custody and the transfer of arms continue.
Over the past few days, Peretz said, Israel had gathered clear evidence that Syria was transfering arms and ammunition to Lebanon, meaning that the embargo imposed by UN Resolution 1701 was not being completely enforced.
Israel plans to inform the joint committee of representatives of UNIFIL, the Israel Defense Forces and the Lebanese Army that unless the arms transfers are stopped, Israel will be forced to take independent action, Peretz said. …-

Att: PM Harper, Defence Minister O’Connor, Canadians.
The paragraphs below come at the end of a news report.
The very last paragraph are the key words:
Quote:
“Situated beside the porous border with Pakistan, Zabul has enjoyed relative calm, a situation many military officials attribute to the success of the U.S.-led PRT.”
The U.S.-led PRT is under the control of the U.S. military, not civilians.
This is the real “news” about the “PRTs” in Afghanistan.
Here is the descending pecking order of the Canadian presence in Afghanistan:
1. Bleedingheart Liberal/socialist cadres, aka commissars, cadres, etc.; Canadian International Development Agency, aka Liberal appointed pork-barrelers, aka CIDA.
2.Professional diplomats, appointed by previous Liberal governments (read Chretien-Martin);
3. The Canadian MSM;
4. soldiers.
Until the Canadian military is separated from the boondoggling PRTs, etc., Canadian soldiers will be hamstrung, will be road-builders/navvies/puppets of the other bleeding hearts.
Canadian soldiers priority must be only to search out and kill/destroy the Muslim Islamist terrorists, aka Taliban. The PRT must be under 100% control of the Canadian military; at a later date the efforts can be handed over to the Afghans. IMHO.

Canada and Britain give civilian agencies more control over rebuilding funds.
In background briefings, some NATO commanders have questioned the effectiveness of civilian involvement and point to the American success in pacifying the Afghan border province of Zabul.

Phantom sport show cost Ottawa $333,000
DANIEL LEBLANC
The Globe and Mail, June 8, 2002
Ottawa — The federal government spent $333,000 to sponsor a hunting-and-fishing show in Quebec City that never happened, The Globe and Mail has learned.
The revelation is the latest in a string of blunders that have embarrassed the Chrétien government and brought allegations of corruption in its dealings with Liberal-friendly firms.
Federal documents show the government specifically funded the Salon du Grand Air in Quebec City in the 1999-2000 fiscal year; the goal was to put up federal advertising at the event to promote the Canadian government to the show’s visitors.
But the show, scheduled for February, 2000, was cancelled a few weeks before it was to have occurred, a spokeswoman for the Congress Centre in Quebec City has confirmed.
Nevertheless, organizers still received their federal funding, federal officials say.
A source said that there is even a note in Ottawa’s files acknowledging the cancellation, showing that government officials knew that they had paid $333,000 for a non-event.
Officials say the government never asked for a reimbursment.
Public Works Minister Ralph Goodale said in an interview yesterday that the file causes him “deep concern.” He vowed further action, saying he would refer the matter to appropriate authorities after an internal investigation.
His department started looking into the matter only after it received inquiries from The Globe. …

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Blackhawk helicopters and interceptor jets have begun patrolling Montana airspace along the U.S.-Canada border, and American officials say unmanned drones could be deployed as early as next year. Malicious Trojan Hidden Inside Spoofed Microsoft E-mail Message
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — (MARKET WIRE) — October 17, 2006 — SurfControl (LSE: SRF), a leading provider of global on-demand, network and endpoint IT security solutions, is currently tracking a malicious Trojan Downloader concealed in a spoofed e-mail message claiming to be from Microsoft.
The e-mail appears to come from support@microsoft.com, and offers recipients a link to download Release Candidate 1 of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.
When users click on the link provided in the spoofed e-mail, a Web site launches what looks very similar to a legitimate Microsoft page.
However, the Web site is fraudulent and installs a Trojan via a browser exploit targeted at Internet Explorer and effectively creates a backdoor on the infected system.**

You thought I was kidding about writing the BBC and ParisMatch about shaping up against the jihadist wave. . .
This is my buck up letter . . .
Pardon moi pour mon dificulte d*ecriver. Je parl Francais pas trop mal. . .
Voici mon alarm pour France et UK.
A note to Britons and our artistic French.
Alarming to us in Canada; that the traditionally strong and steadfast Briton seems to have softened so much.
Your Tony Blair is brilliant and powerfully informed.
Tony Blair demands a stiffening of the British backbone against the surging strength of the Muslim Jihadist movement. Our hearts drop at the plight of France and Sweden who may be beyond the tipping point.
If Britons fail to pull together and understand that not only is your freedom and democracy in dire jeopardy, but so to is ours in Canada and the USA.
President Bush may well be something of a public relations failure but he is not at all mistaken in defending hundreds of citizens in Iraq and Afghanistan against the razor edged injustice of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. All those who chose peace and fairness and risked their lives with the telltale purple finger of voting.
Pulling back at this stage will be suicidal to Europe as well as the West because that would unleash an Avalanche of Muslim terrorism upon the free world.
MY language here seems blunt and alarmist but it is only the clear truth directly stated.
A freedom of expression open to one who comments while not available to the professional media like the BBC & Paris Match.
The major media do a great job of providing a flood of news stories. However In an effort to avoid the adding of any *spin*, they are reluctant to join the dots and paint a complete picture.
I, as a commenter am free to join the dots.
Consider Pakistan has given over a district for Taliban and Al Qaeda comfort and training camps.
Pakistan has multi-Billion$ pipelines under construction for SECURE oil delivery to China and natural gas to Iran.
[check Al Jazeera site]
Russia has organized crime migrating into government ministries where they refuse to cooperate with the West to curtail servers sucking fraudulent Billion$ from free world markets.
A Canadian developer suffered a Moscow hotel takeover by the crime gangs. Russian authorities do nothing to help solve a 14 Million$ lawsuit.
Time and space limits me here. Suffice to say, Our stand against Hitler may have been a lesser struggle compared to the enemy today.
Paris Match has an obligation to join the dots for citizens of France and make the threat of Muslim Shia law clear. Life under the grip of Muslim Shia will be prison for the freedom loving French. = TG
