Muslims reacting in anger. How can that be ???

If Mr. Layton and his fellow-travellers aren’t gob-smacked by the irony of this, they are truly ungob-smackable.
Cal: One of our guys in Riyadh had his vehicle rear-ended, by a Saudi, at a traffic light…..the car was pushed into the middle of the road, whereupon a Saudi cop gave him a warning ‘for blocking the intersection’.
As I used to say to new arrivals in Saudi “Once you’ve been here a while you’ll believe ANYTHING”.
“German Chancellor Angela Merkel defended the German-born pope, saying his message had been misunderstood.”
Hmmmm , that’s funny. I understood it perfectly.
You guys have perked up my day. Though I am surprised we have not had a visit by a NDP blogger telling us how intolerant we are or a further slur against the Pope, citing some misguided understanding of the separation of Church and State. Oh well, maybe I’ll read the Toronto Star to get the Lefty Perspective. We are going to hear how it is the Pope’s fault because now some churches are going to be burnt and some priests and faithful killed in the name and honour of this faith.
Ultimately, the irony will be that the message within the quote used will be exemplified in the actions of those who adhere to Mohammed’s words. The shame will be that of those involved few will realize their folly.
Do as we say, or die. The main Mantra of the “Religion of Peace”.
I have no idea how oxygen starved brains like Taliban Jacks can even accommodate a thought let, alone have an actual idea or opinion that is on the sane side.
Thanks for the chuckle Kate. Every time one of these clowns opens there mouth to defend the unfathomable, they bring up little gems of there raging hate & illogic.
If there is one thing we understand in the West from public education. Its how to spot mindless bullies, who think there psudo-concern is fooling the people they abuse. That Muslims may or are upset is like saying the sky is blue. It means that little except as a descriptor of normal behavior.
They have only themselves to blame for any perceived backlash(I see none, just more sucking up to these psychos) against there Worship of Allah, who’s pseudonym should be Satan not Allah. Its his kinnda Religion perfectly.
I mean. Name me one founder of any religion from Jesus to Zoraster who chopped peoples heads off with glee or abused children sexually. Did the Buddha? Confucius?
The only ones who ever committed this level of violence against innocents is Communism. Another satanic view in my opinion. The inquisition as bad as it was, denied its Founders( Jesus) teachings on ignoring those who would not listen. Jesus never intended for forced conversion. The NT prescription for none belief is to walk away. For heretics, shunning if members of a church fall outside norms.
In one thousand years of existence , the death rate was less than one days casualties in WW1. Most of those burnt where dead anyway, & the nobles of the time used this device to steal there enemies lands after they where gone. This was ghastly enough since the people ejected where left with no means of employment. Or cash. A State tool for control.
Thankfully this monstrous behavior led to Religious freedom & reform, after the wars of Religion. In Islam its been 1,400 hundred years. Still no reform. Still no mercy , only hate buttered in jihad. Forced conversion, slavery, misogyny on a universal scale & race hatred.
This is a death cult & that’s all it is. It worships death not life. The sword is its tool of choice, not the pen.
Their voices raised in rage, at any excuse with a void where Love should be for God& his creation, including there fellow men& women..
They really ought to give nighttime torchlight processions a try. The footage looks way better on TV, and really scares the bejeebers out of westerners.
cal says…
…Old Arab gent in Riyadh collides with a vacant parked car owned by an expatriate. The police attribute 50% of the blame to each party, because in their view, if the expatriate were not in their country there would have been no object for the Arab to collide with…
now i understand why we have no fault car insurance. LOL

What is really ironic about the Turks’ response of comparison to Hitler, etc. is that Mein Kampf is THE MOST popular book in Turkey at the moment; so aren’t they paying Benedict a complement? or are they just completely screwed up in the head?
Well speaking as someone who has descended from the “Huns”; we have some experience in recognizing fascism/stalinism when it rears its ugly head.
A little history first.
It is part of family history that my father was in the Hitler Jugend (HJ – Hitler Youth); just like Pope “Benny”. My father had the delightful duty as a young 13-15 year old of manning the FLAK 88, being sent to sniper school in January 1944, narrowly missing being assigned to the Russian Front, where my grandfather had spent 4 years in WWI. Further excitement ensued dodging 500 lbs bombs which landed a little too close to the railway station, being posted alongside the SS with Panzerfaust and demolition charges, being cut to ribbons by two Allied fighters whilst flying an unarmed glider in the fall of 1944, and also being slated for suicide missions against Allied bomber waves in the Messerschmitt Komet 163 whose fuel would dissolve flesh from the bones if spilled and was also highly unstable.
My great grandfather did his stint in the Franco-Prussian War receiving the Medaille D’Honneur. I think the Krauts ‘won’ that one.
My maternal grandfather was a flyboy on the Russian Front in WWI. In the fall 1916, according to anecdotes from my grandmother, he was hit and his plane began to burn. No parachutes in those days. So he had to make a choice at 2000m, whether to turn into crispy toast, whilst holding the ‘joystick’ or take a flying leap. He chose the latter and as Divine Providence would have it, landed in a haystack and walked away receiving the ‘near mortal wound’ of a broken thumb. His heart however wasn’t quite the same after reaching ‘terminal velocity’. WWII followed up with the insanity of Gauleiter Hanke’s fortress defence of Breslau and post war liqidations courtesy of the Soviets; not too mention rape, pillage and plunder.
My paternal grandfather was with the 7th Ulanen (Lancers); something you can still see the RCMP doing for demonstration when they do their rides.
His run was doing the Von Schlieffen plan with Von Bulow 2nd Army, subsequently being posted to the Russian Front after narrowly passing the gates of Paris August 1914. Later transferred to the Russian Front for a 4 year posting which included the 1st and 2nd Battle of Masurian Lakes, Battles of Kovno, Vilna and Noroch Lakes. Two of his horses were hit by artillery fire and disintegrated underneath him, he walked away without a scratch. The 2nd Battle of Masurian Lakes took place on Feb. 7, 1915 with ambient temperatures of -45C and white out conditions. It was the kind of winter not fit for man nor beast , but they were given the order to charge anyway.
The Kovno and Vilna dustups involved calvary charges at artillery emplacements, the latter with 1500 guns. The battle of Noroch Lakes the Krauts were outnumbered by the Russians 5 to 1.
In the east, the Russians recovered from their first defeats and launched a new offensive against the Germans in February 1916, in the Lake Narocz region northeast of Vilna. The attack was a complete failure and saw the Russians lose more than 100,000 men.
Fortunately , for my grantfather highly mobile calvary, and a war horse he dubbed “Quisisanna”(Here you will be well)saved his backside on numerous occasions. Years later he would still have nightmares of having ‘another russian soldier on his lance’.
When Adolf launched Operation Barbarossa his comment was:
“Unser Fuehrer wird sich in Russland zum Tode siegen.”
Translation:
“Our Fuehrer’s only victory will be in spreading death and destruction.”
This statement prompted a visit by the Gestapo for an entrapment session in the hopes that he would repeat the statement. The Gestapo informant failed to get the desired result, from a three time Iron Cross holder.
Our pedigree thus far, has been to be thrust into every ‘sh*tstorm’, only to narrowly escape what should have been certain curtain calls.
We now subscribe to the following:
Psalm 91:7
Though a thousand fall at your side,
Ten thousand at your right hand,
you yourself will remain unscathed,
with his faithfulness for shield and buckler.
Or more colloquially, we do ‘sh*tstorms’.
As to Mein Kampf being popular one might observe the following quote by Adolf and substitute Muslim for the Christian religion.
“Today (Mulims) Christians … stand at the head of [this country]… I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy (Islam) Christianity .. We want to fill our culture again with the (Muslim) Christian spirit … We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press – in short, we want to burn out the *poison of immorality* which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of *liberal excess* during the past … (few) years. [The Speeches of Adolph Hitler, 1922-1939, Vol. 1 (London, Oxford University Press, 1942), pg. 871-872]
I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator.
By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord’s work. [Adolph Hitler, Speech, Reichstag, 1936]”
Gee, just substitute the narrative to recast in new religious garb and you have the fascism from
days of old. Well the sell job has to be a bit better by Mephistopheles, to pull this Faustian bargain the second time around.
I don’t know about you folks, but my family had a front row seat to a great deal of insanity since 1871 and it had precious little to do with the “Lords work”.
What it did have a lot to do with was the false pride of an “injured nationalism/tribalism”. For this false pride we ensured that in every village, town and city; sons, husbands and fathers were never coming home.
I would suggest that a lot of “jihad by the sword” has precious little to do with “Allah’s work” but rather; has the look and feel of a Faustian bargain worthy of Mephistopheles.
Just so the presciption from certain quarters of the Muslim world that “jihad of the sword” will achieve anything more than the rallying cries of “Sieg Heil” is a false promise. The only thing this path will achieve is broken countries, overflowing cemetaries, and decimated families.
The path of “jihad of the sword” is no more than a crude recasting of Mein Kampf in new religious garb.
It is in short, a misrepresentation of an authentic face of religion, used by progenitors to create a political distortion.
Well, well, well the Devil comes as a bearer of Light. Isn’t that why they call him Lucifer: Light bearer?
When the jihadists start reevaluating the following text which they ostensibly accept as authentic, let me know:
Deuteronomy 31:19
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today: I set before you life or death, blessing or curse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live, …
Yes we’ve done the “Gott mit uns”, “Sieg Heil”, “God is with us”, “Victory is mine” routine; we also know how recognize false prophets.
If you have any doubts, how about these fine gals with the “God Bless Hitler” sign?
Hey, welcome to Pakistan Adolf!

Benedict blunder shows he has failed to master media machine
breitbart.com ^ | Sep 15 10:45 AM US/Eastern | Staff
By unwittingly angering Muslims with his comments on Islam, Pope Benedict XVI has shown that he has yet to shake off his academic theological roots and master the global media machine with the same deftness as his predecessor. In clinging to theology and orthodoxy, the bookish Benedict has shown little regard for media management in getting his message across, unlike the communications-savvy John Paul II. Benedict railed Muslims when he quoted a 14th-century Christian emperor who said the Prophet Mohammed had brought the world only “evil and inhuman” things, portraying the Islam he founded as a religion which endorses violence,…-

“Though fig trees do not blossom…”
This has to be the best laugh I have ever had in the blogosphere. Most of the comments are hilarious. Thank god for the ROP. Excellent post Kate. I wanted to add a comment but I cannot stop laughing.
“Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence”
Or in other words;
I’m a peaceful man and I’ll chop the head off of anyone who says different.
Don’t forget kids:
“BEHEAD THOSE WHO INSULT ISLAM”
Or in other words:
Call us nonviolent or we’ll riot.
That is indeed hilarious! A long time ago I came to think that Monty Python was no more ‘cos no longer needed. I can’t imagine better proof. It’s clear: the islamofacist WMD will be history’s funniest joke. We’re gonna all die laughing.
Muslim outrage: sorta losing its edge, eh, like Letters to the Editor opening with “I am shocked and appalled”.
May the Pope never become “media savvy”, i.e., take up lying.
Just watching those 4th century simpleton’s reactions to the Pope on CNN is both hilarious and educational. Watching them is a real time lesson in Natural selection, now you can see and understand how Neanderthal’s died out.
The biggest threat from Islam is not the militants; it’s Western democracy. And Canadians should understand this threat better than most.
Right now, most Western European nations have a “native” (as in people whose families have lived in that country for many generations) birthrate which is close to, if not below, the replacement rate. Meanwhile, the Muslims in those countries are reproducing much more rapidly, due in no small part to their policy of treating women as little more than breeding cattle. The net result, projected some 20-30 years into the future, is that most of the Western European nations will have a majority Muslim population, and the Muslims will be able to impose many of their desires through the ballot box, a Western innovation.
Canadians should be familiar with this tactic, as it was used in Quebec to overthrow English power. The “revenge de la creche” was the result of French Canadian families having 7, 8, 9, or more children. (My father spent summers in Eastern Townships working with a family with 12 kids.) Meanwhile, English Quebeckers had 2 or 3 kids per family. In two generations, thanks to advances in modern medicine which made it much more certain that both mother and child would survive the actual birth, the French had completely won the battle of the ballot box. English influence was suddenly only available in a handful of ridings around Montreal and Hull.
This demographic battle is one we are slowly but surely losing. The only defence is to get Muslim women to demand more of their rights, especially to education (remember, the Taliban banned women from schools). History shows as women become more educated and empowered, they have fewer children. Keep them barefoot and in the kitchen, and they pump out babies frequently (again, thanks to modern medicine; this was a risky business prior to 1900).
Now in Western countries, war has been an effective if gruesome method of population control; by killing off lots of young men, many women were destined to be childless. Islam gets around this by allowing one man to have multiple wives. So, unless the West is prepared to conduct a massive genocide against Muslim males, which is not something I advocate, we need to take another tact.
My solution would be to inundate young Muslim women with images of smart, empowered women who are unencumbered by male programs of subjugation and fertilization. Let them see, and envy, our daughters. I have two girls, 9 and 12, and every day my heart swells with pride as I see them grow, learn, and develop into free, fearless, and formidable young women.
This is the modern day equivalent of “hearts and minds”, or one could consider it “Lysistrata” redux. Either way, this is the only way we can win this war without genocide.
So, as strange as it may seem, my strategy for this war would be to conduct it against young girls, in the sense of encouraging rebellion against the stifling Muslim future offered to them.
This looks like a job for Iowahawk.
Lepanto
by G.K.Chesterton
White founts falling in the Courts of the sun,
And the Soldan of Byzantium is smiling as they run;
There is laughter like the fountains in that face of all men feared,
It stirs the forest darkness, the darkness of his beard;
It curls the blood-red crescent, the crescent of his lips;
For the inmost sea of all the earth is shaken with his ships.
They have dared the white republics up the capes of Italy,
They have dashed the Adriatic round the Lion of the Sea,
And the Pope has cast his arms abroad for agony and loss,
And called the kings of Christendom for swords about the Cross.
The cold queen of England is looking in the glass;
The shadow of the Valois is yawning at the Mass;
From evening isles fantastical rings faint the Spanish gun,
And the Lord upon the Golden Horn is laughing in the sun.
kevinb – excellent comments.
Yes, a rural population tends to have large families, and the Quebecois were rural, by their own insistence, until recently. I agree with your tactic, that the focus has to be on Muslim women, to fight against their enslavement by Muslim men.
As for the Pope, the calls for him to ‘apologize’ for his comments are shameless and cowardly. Someone has to confront Islam having transformed itself into a fascist death cult. The Islamic people won’t confront their own degenerated ideology; only a few of them will do so, and the violence against these few prevents others from also speaking out.
When westerners confront Islamics with the violent and repressive nature of their religion, the reaction is – violent and repressive. But it has to be said, in public, and over and over again. Islam has moved into a fascist ideology, an ideology focused on death rather than life, an ideology of violence and hatred. What are they going to do about it?
Benedict was right and courageous to speak out – and I hope he has the guts not to apologize. Others should speak out on his behalf and ask the above questions – why is Islam focused on death, violence and hatred?
What doesn’t make Muslims angry?
Q: What doesn’t make Muslims angry?
A: Falafel.
Lots of comments on other blogs about how repressive the Pope is with his stand on contraception and abortion and SSM. He is roundly condemned for this. However, it seems that Islam has the same repressiveness. Large familys mean no contraception or abortion, and homosexuals are beheaded. Therefore, all muslims must convert to Catholicism as they share many beliefs. No women priests, no women mullahs, etc. At least our Pope can read something written 600 yrs ago, too bad the muslims can’t. It does appear that people are finally starting to ignore all their protests. Maybe it is time for us christians and atheists to have a protest march, carrying signs OFFEND A MUSLIM, SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND SING CHRISTMAS CAROLS. WE DEMAND CHRISTMAS CONCERTS DEPICTING THE BIRTH OF CHRIST. CONVERT NOW. I do know that I refuse to shop in any store that has happy holidays displayed, and avoid it during the rest of the year.
Hans, my greatgrandfather was a POW in that war, captured by your side. Should I hate you for something that happened many moons ago. I don’t think so.
Pope Benedict said that violence was inconsistent with God and inconsistent with the soul.
It’s good that this comes from a religious leader, inasmuch as challenges from our philosophical community or our scientific community would be utterly meaningless to people who think only in theological terms.
From conceivably the foremost spokesman in Christendom, this is a challenge that must necessarily be taken more seriously than disciplines that are held in contempt by Islam anyway.
After all, many of those who appreciate Pope Benedict’s statement believe neither in God nor the soul, and these two latter are almost disregarded as much by our own scientists and philosophers as Islam diregards the Western intellectual and scientific traditions.
Many of us regard God and the soul as merely theoretical constructs about which no sane person can have any actual knowledge. Our own views on these matters are often formed on strictly a theoretical basis, and anything other than that is relegated to what maverick writer Charles Fort called the “damned”. By this he meant subjects that had been extricated from the canon of Western institutional life.
What is the soul? Many in the liberal and fine arts would attribute the soul to be something on the order of feelings and inspirations of poets. Something that can be lauded, but nonetheless passes away with biological death.
Actually, the question may be: is there any part of humans that survives the end of the biological organism?
The truth is that a rich body of knowledge has existed for some time that actually affirms some knowledge about such a condition. However, this knowledge has been “damned”, as wild man Fort told us. It is a challenge to institutional life, both political and religious. After all, suppose it were possible to actually have language and definitions that point to transpersonal realms of experience that are not a mere epiphenomenon of organic life.
This is a huge subject, but a good place to start is The Human Personality and Its Survival of Bodily Death, by F.W.H. Myers. This distinguished Cambridge classics scholar and his band of academic friends started the Society of Psychical Research, the now there are something like a hundred years of very deep and profound research into this most intriguing of areas. Aldus Huxley said that Myers’s model is superior to Freud’s. And William James roundly praised his work.
If anyone is interested in the general area, they might want to look at http://veritas.arizona.edu/ . This work in the Psychology Dept at the University of Arizona, with their double-blind studies, is quite significant, and this is only one place where serious research is being conducted.
It’s quite possible that the future will allow us to talk about these transpersonal states in language that defines different conditions and those conditions’ activities.
Then we would no longer be having struggles over theoretical constructs that invite nothing more than philosophical ruminations.
Pope Benedict has to be speaking about something besides the strictly temporal and organic world. In our biological universe, nature is aristocratic. The tiger in the jungle rules. Pope Benedict points us in the direction of a reference transcendent to the world conditioned by the food chain.
The literature on this subject is vast and has been excluded for far too long.

question: if Jack Layton was kidnapped and held for ransom while negotiating with the Taliban, how much do you think they would pay us??
tower: I think it would be a case of: “If you don’t come up with the money by tomorrow, then Jack’s on the first plane outta here……we mean business”!
Reminds me of a O’Henry short story about the kidnapping of a very badly behaved kid! Title espcapes me.
I find the spontaneous outrage of the Muslims to be a little strange. Here they are, an Arabic speaking people, condemning the Pope who is a German speaking man, with signs printed in English!
Anybody care to enlighten me?
Mujahed: It was the Dutch that occupied Indonesia, as my father in law was there in 1948. The Dutch are ‘evil colonialists’ as well since they are now in Afghanistan too?
There is obviously, a small minority of Muslims who actively pursue the ‘jihad of the sword’. This is a problem area for intercultural dialogue.

Our family lived in Iran in 1959. My Dad worked as a driller for Santa Fe Drilling Company. I remember when he told me, Jimmy don’t go into the desert, if the bedouins kill you they think they go to heaven.. He also told me as he shook his head, Jimmy, America will regeret the day we gave these crazy people money. Well America, we are still giving these crazy arabs money and they keep buying first class one way plane tickets. It is an easy choice for me. Either drill in Alaska or dig lots of 6 Ft. burial plots…. Why does the west treat these MAD DOGS as if they have fleas

So statistically speaking, which religion it’s followers has the highest “Bloodlitting Rate” against other nations, religions or minorities in thier own lands?
Man. If cartoons and 600-year-old quotes can whip millions of muslims into a jihadist frenzy, then we had better get ready for the inevitable. WW3 is here people; it’s already begun. Afghanistan and Iraq are only the beginning.
Happy thoughts, everyone!
Muslims know that our liberals will protect them regardless of their actions.
Oh, what the heck. As a tribute, of sorts, to Lefty_99, who’s almost certainly under 25 — a relative child — here’s a poem by the great Charles Simic:
NOTE
A rat came on stage
During the performance
Of the school Christmas play.
Mary let out a scream
And dropped the infant
On Joseph’s foot.
The three Magi remained
Frozen
In their colorful robes.
You could hear a pin drop
As the rat surveyed the manger
Momentarily
Before proceeding to the wings
Where someone hit him,
In earnest,
Once, and then twice more,
With a heavy object.
