Little Red Riding Book

The Liberal Red Book has been leaked to the Big Bad Western Wolves.
Update: Reader George writes in the comments; “this ‘Red Book’ is the same as the “Plan for Growth and Prosperity’ that we paid Earnscliffe and Herle to produce on a sole sourced contract (illegal) pre-election. Are the Liberals so addicted to stealing our money for their own ends that they would do this? “

  1. Woof!
I wonder if the Liberals will try to deflect and say, “Oh, that new Red Book. Well, it wasn’t really meant to be published or get released or anything, it was more of a practice run. You know, make sure the format looked okay for a bathroom reader.”

  2. Kate–this ‘Red Book’ is the same as the “Plan for Growth and Prosperity’ that we paid Earnscliffe and Herle to produce on a sole sourced contract(illegal)pre-election. Are the Liberals so addicted to stealing our money for their own ends that they would do this? YES
Someone has to ask the hard questions–

  3. I suggest that whenever anyone here mentions that there’s a mole in the Liberal war room, it is done in a Peter Lorre voice.
By the way, funny Duke-like commentary on the Liberal attack ads at http://www.freeadvice.ca/

  4. Bathroom reader, that’s perfect!!!! LOL!!!!
I like the pic on pg 71, PMPM and Koffi Anan, tom bad they couldn’t get Tongsun Park and Maurice Strong in the pic to.
I suspect they were busy lugging the suit cases to the car.

  5. The childcare thing in that Red Book is still bothering me, so here’s a question:
Wouldn’t the Liberal childcare plan disproportionately help the wealthy? There seem to be two groups who use institutionalized day care centres: single parents/subsidized parents, and the very wealthy who use designer daycares. My husband is a physician, and almost all the physician couples we know had their kids in insitutionalized day care. In contrast, the “regular” two parent working families used a neighbour down the street, a Grandma part time and a friend part-time, an aunt, etc.
The combined family incomes of the two parent working families in urban centres who use institutionalized day cares are probably higher than the family incomes of the parents who do not, especially those with parents who stay at home.
So is it not fair to say that this will help the wealthy rather than the middle class or the struggling working class?
I’d love it if someone actually had statistics on this, so comment on my blog where this is cross-posted (Is the Liberal Child Care Plan Helping the Wealthy?) and let me know. I might write about this in our newspaper.
    Thanks!

  6. Correct me if I am wrong, but this “Red Book” is the Liberal plan for the direction the want to take Canada if they form the government. Sort of a campaign platform.
There is less than 2 weeks left in the campaign and they have not released it yet?

  7. What kind of party “leaks” their platform book? Shouldn’t they have had it out right from the start?
I guess they figured it would be enough to let Harper and Company shoot themselves in the foot. However, that never materialized because the CPC has been running a seamless campaign from day one. Then the Liberals try and demonize Harper and the CPC with these bizarre attack ads, However, after this long into the campaign they saw people were not buying it and it is actucally backfiring on them.
Now they are “leaking” their Red Book as if that will somehow turn the tide. Well Martin, you’ve wasted so much time attacking Harper and not concentrating on your platform planks, that at this stage of the campaign, it is too late to start talking ahbout your little Red Book. The Conservatives have too far a head start. The race is over for you and your corrupt, scandal ridden party.

  8. Where are the Libs getting the money to do all of the advertising spots, very costly, we have been hearing for some time now the party is broke. Maybe good investments in, say, income trusts, Oil for food money, contract kickbacks?
Does anyone have a count on how many times the PM has said “THE FIRST THING A NEW LIBERAL GOVT. WILL DO”.
I was always taught you can only have one first.
I guess the social engineers of the Librals want everything to be first that way there are no loosers, except for the Canadian people.

  9. First they say they will ban hand guns now they want to ban weapons in space. I guess these guys are listening to their former Tin Hat (aluminum foil) man.

  10. The maudlin sentimentality and dripping saccharin jingoism in this publication had me running for my insulin after the first 3 pages.
Still, I see no mention of altering the charter to remove the supremacy of elected parliament, nor anything about unjustified civilian firearms bans, and no mention of acting on Gomery indictments….nothing Martin now “promises” is in the “written plan”…what’s up with that eh? 😉

  11. Maybe a little off topic, but I was a little disappointed with the narrow scope of the debates. One major point hasnt been addressed by Martin or Harper (maybe I missed it). Foreign affairs. Mister Candidate, given that Canadian firms are shutting down putting Canadians out of work and opening up in China what is your policy regarding this. Given that we give China billions in aid, do you think this wise given they support a huge military, their intelligence has infiltrated our political system according to CSIS and they have been trying to buy up strategic Canadian resources. What is your plan for Afghanistan and how long will it take. How do you propose to settle out disputes with the US ? These issues affect Canadian jobs and even in the case of Afghanistan threaten Canadian lives. We deserve an answer as to what specifically you plan to do. Do you think Harper will outline a foreign policy before the election. It can be pretty contensious.

  12. There is only one way to respond to the Liberal platform . . . with laughter and complete dersion.
Their main election plank is a ban on . . . wait for it . . . space weaponry???
Are Trekkies writing the Liberal platform?
Do ordinary Canadians really care about Romulan incursions into the neutral zone?
I think Joe and Jane Voter really have their minds on more terrestial matters, like getting actual weapons out of the hands of thugs on the streets of Toronto and Vancouver.
The Liberals are lost in space.

  13. Ooh! No weapons in space. Puzzled me at first but I have since figured it out.
Since PMPM has accused Mr.Harper of everything except Alien Invasion, it’s clear the Liberals want to disarm space to pave the way for their own alien invasion.
You can have my light saber when you can pry it out of my cold dead hands!

  14. did they leave the section in from last time where the GST was to be cut to 0%–JC waved it in our collective faces.

  15. I have just noticed that the student support plans in the Red Book have an anomoly. Students can get $3000.00 help for first and last year of University. (The 50/50 grant plan) Except “poor” students who can get up to $3000.00 worth of help per year with their college expenses (The Canada Access grant). This means the help for poor students now is meaningless because all students can now get $3000.00. If the liberals really wanted to help students struggling with high costs of post secondary education they would have allowed “poor” students access to the 50/50 program.
This on first read of a very blazee document.

  16. We have had it with the same old crap from the liberals it is time the people of canada woke up and kicked them out let us take back our country and the morals too they have watered down our courts along withevery other thing which this country was built on.thank you western standardyou call it as it is .

  17. At this point, an alien invasion might well be the only thing that could save the Liberals. If they suck up enough, they might be allowed to live to amuse the new overlords LOL.
