When Wires Cross

Another bad day to be Ralph Goodale;

The faxes are from accounting firm Deloitte & Touche to the Ministry of Finance (Ralph Goodale’s office). The faxes are to Mike Burton, a former ministerial staffer of Finance Minister Ralph Goodale. However, it appears from these faxes that Burton is also an organizer within the Saskatchewan Liberal Association.
The faxes, intended for the Minister’s office detail Liberal Party donations to the riding of Regina Qu’Appelle where one assumes Burton is organizing for the Liberal Party. The faxes also describe accounting of party funds in the ridings of Prince Albert and Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre.

Update: And that ain’t all….

Ralph Goodale’s ministerial staff seem to spend a great deal of time working the Saskatchewan file, to the exclusion of any other province. Remember, we are talking of Finance Ministry staff, not riding staff.

Go see Angry for the rest.

  1. No surprise when you’ve had a one-party state for a dozen years. While the bloggers are all over this, I just have to chuckle at one line from this morning’s CBC piece on “Party Leaders Resume Campaign.”

“Later in the day, Liberal Leader Paul Martin will be at a bagel shop in Ottawa…”
I imagine it’s straight from a campaign news release, and it just strikes me funny.

  3. Speaking of Prince Albert, the Liberal campaign office here is located a few doors down from the Public Works Canada office in the same strip mall: the boulevard in front of the mall is about the only place in the riding where you can find Liberal signs.

  4. “Later in the day, Liberal Leader Paul Martin will be at a bagel shop in Ottawa…”
Is he applying for a job? Might as well while your there, Paul.

  5. I just watched the “bagel scrum” – PMPM was hounded:
    1) on why the stories have changed (first he knew what Ralph was going to announce, now he doesn’t) – he says there is no discrepancy
    2) on whether he or his staff have been contacted by the RCMP
    3) on WHY Harper was out & about giving speeches at events at 8:00 am & PMPM was talking to reporters in the afternoon
I think his plan to highlight the difference in values between him & Harper will backfire, big time.

  6. Cdn. Press is mocking Martin. For headline watchers this could be a turning/tipping point in the campaign, methinks. OTOH, the “neg” ads from Librano$ have not been rolled out yet. OTOH, the negative headlines re Liberals are terrific/hard to counter.
Martin is portrayed as inept; all thumbs; a klutz; he cannot find the button.
“Without government assistance”: Hallelujah. Amen, Paul.
Also, Cdn. Press is designating Martin as “Liberal Leader”: notice the capitalization of Leader. Formerly, Martin would have been designated, “Prime Minister —- —–“. Cnews writes the headlines, however, on their website.>>>
Martin tries to hit campaign re-set button: all about values says Liberal PM
OTTAWA (CP) – Liberal Leader Paul Martin has begun the new year by claiming a Conservative government would toss Canadians to the wolves and have them “fend for themselves” without government assistance.>>>
