“Bilaterals With Japan, Germany and Bono.”

But for the ultimate in obsequiousness, check out the newspaper pic of Martin and Bono from Gleneagles last Thursday. They are shaking hands and our main man is literally pawing the rocker’s leather jacket. Fawning describes Martin’s demeanor perfectly. He has on his face a grin so false and fake-hearty it triggered, in me at least, a giant gag reflex.

Maybe it’s his taste in hats.

  1. I wondered why Bono come out and said he was going to “kick Martin’s ass”. Martin stole his wallet. He gets so much practice at home, he can’t help himself.

  2. AHHHAAhhhhhh! What a scoop!
And people gave it to George W. Bush for holding hands with the “king” of Saud…
We should all be thankful we have rich musicians willing to do the work of our public officials FOR US!

  3. Paul Martin clearly has more time and goodies to give to Bono than he has for his other bilateral dialogue partners in Gleneagles.
During his meeting with Japanese PM Junichiro Koizumi, Paul Martin reaffirmed that his government has quietly dropped Canada’s long standing suport for Japan’s efforts to secure a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Canada’s support for Japan had originally been pledged by Brian Mulroney. Koizumi told Martin that Japan is disappointed that Canada has apparently decided it is no longer worth its while to support a long time ally.
It’s interesting to note that no one in Martin’s office seems to have briefed the Canadian media on this aspect of the discussion. The only thing the Canadian media reported on about the Koizumi meeting was on Japan’s tardiness in lifting its ban on Candian beef after the mad cow scare.
Maybe Paul Martin will learn someday that when you refuse to help your friends, they don’t rush as quickly to help you.
…that reminds me of softwood lumber…

  4. I remember that Suharto wore a similar hat… old Jean Cretin shook his hand too… see the pattern wrt the Libranos and this sort of hat-wearing company?
Maybe old Paul likes to touch flamboyant guys who like to wear double-layer cake-shaped hats?
And yeah, that is one phony grin… or did he perhaps have too many beans at the VIP luncheon those days? He always looks in these kinds of pics that he let one out…
Looks, though, that it was Bono that let it out that time… Qadhaffi just looks like he thinks he’s hot scheiss all the time, much like Paulie.
I just love making fun of these people… they bring it on themselves, after all…

  5. Meanwhile, back at the ranch,…
    Terrorism will hit Canada: expert
TORONTO (CP) – Canada is a likely target for terrorism but there is little the country can do to prevent a large-scale disaster similar to last week’s subway bombings in London, says the executive director for the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness.

  6. rob
He IS digging in Boneo’s pocket…
    Where are his fingers?
Why DOES bono look so embarassed?
Why would martini steal from him? Boneo is a petty beggar in comparison to HIS wealth…

  7. Maz2 is correct. It is too damn late, thanks to the copulatin’ Libbies and their uncaring attitude wrt this threat, to do much to prevent an attack by Al Qaeda.
They let so many terrorist bastards enter and remain no matter what that there’s no way to round them all up and deport them. They’ve probably disappeared and falsified new identities to prepare to kill how many and whom among us?

  8. Knight of Good Mr. Iron Man – Your kidding right? … Would you rather I said:
Martin: “I just tongued Bono and he liked it”
    Sheeessh!! …. some people….

  9. Two Cents: And Canada, unlike other countries, is not consumed with self-interest, and the world needs more of us? But do remember our greatest foreign policy victory: New Zealand has lifted its ban on Canadian beef. The Commonwealth lives!

On the other hand, Canadian beef exports to NZ are statistically insignificant:

Did our media report this salient fact?
Martin and his bilaterals: All you need is love. Don’t let Martin near John Lennon’s corpse.

  10. Several times now I have watched Mr. Martin give a speech which gave me the distinct impression that I was listening to a hollow man. He seemed to be a mere shell of a man.
Someone wrote that they thought he was phoney (Kate maybe?) I agree and I would go further to suggest there is nothing worthy inside the man.

  11. Hollow is right. Marin is the walking embodiment of a Liberal Party construct. All image no substance. I would have more respect for him if he was simply and truly a rogue capitalist.
However, I think Martin, capitalist as he may be, is the perfect example of Liberal delusional narcissicm.
He actually believes he stands for something and has integrity despite continued and glaring examples of gross hipocracy
    What a sociopathic jerk off.

  12. One more thing: I think Jack posed for this picture to prove there is something out there more repulsive than himself…

  13. Exactly how is Martin a capitalist? Anything he has ever been involved with had some sort of government association. Special tax breaks, semi-monopolys or heavily regulated wherein knowing who’s who was more valuable than actual business sense. This is much more of a problem than people realize because this is the way he sees business developing, under the watchful eye of the government with handouts here and there to the chosen few to help maintain the Liberal kleptocracy.

  14. Good points rebarbarian. Calling Martin a capitalist was an insult to capitalists. A bit of lazy brain on my part
You summed up Martin nicely. I think Martin however does believe he’s a “capitalist” and businessman.
Perhaps Liberal ideological fundamentalist with capitalist delusions would have been a better description.

  15. I was thinking ,if you know anyone with photoshop skills, that Martin with one of those round hats with the geometrical patterns on it,and an African dakashi(sp),would make a damned fine picture (ala The Liberanos) being that Canada is mow being run like a third world dictatorship of the African variety. ……Just ask Gewel,I see the Liberal finger puppets(aka the RCMP) are sniffling for some fairly minor election contribution mismanagements.
