Bribing MP’s Is A Criminal Offence

Bill C-46: The Criminal Code of Canada:
119 (1)Every one who…(b) gives or offers, corruptly, to a person mentioned in paragraph (a) any money, valuable consideration, office, place or employment in respect of anything done or omitted by him in his official capacity for himself or another person, is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.

Story here . My commentors are saying the tape has now been released. I’ll post a link to that if it becomes available.
Tape is at CTV now.
Update – Andrew Coyne has more. Much more;
(since updated)

Oh, it’s exquisite, isn’t it? “If anybody is asked the question, ‘Well is there a deal?’ and you say, ‘No.’ Well you want that to be the truth.”
Got that? You want to be able to say truthfully that there’s no deal. Which is pretty easy if in fact there is no deal. So why does it take eight minutes to sketch out how to do it here? Why do they have to agree that nobody should lie?
“I don’t think it’s good if anybody lies…” But here are the things you can say: “my riding doesn’t want an election… I’m thinking hard about what the right thing for my riding [is], etc.”
It’s a “bad idea” to have an “explicit trade,” but if someone abstains “based on principle” then “the freedom to have discussions is increased.” Explicit discussions “about Senate, not Senate” are not “very helpful,” or at least not “in advance of an abstention.” But then “we can make an arrangement that allows you to move.” And the whole thing can be arranged through a third party — I hear David Peterson’s available — so that “you didn’t approach, we didn’t approach.”
Vote-laundering, you might say.
But stay tuned: “The Tories plan to release tapes of discussions between Dosanjh and Grewal tomorrow.”

Thursday AM update
Watched CTV for a few minutes this morning. Robert Fife: “In the real world this may even be illegal”.
What he meant to say is that, in Canada, the Media Wing of the Liberal Party can be counted on to carefully skirt the most damaging information about criminal elements and illegality in Paul Martin’s government.

This occured to me, too, but Coyne beats me to it;

You follow: an MP whom the government has asked the RCMP to investigate on allegations he insists are completely spurious wanted to cross the floor to join that same government. Of course. Makes perfect sense

  1. This parliament and the findings of Gomery telegraph the message loud and clear that there is no law where Liberal politics are concerned.
The media cheerleads this premise with their silence on the matter and we sanctify it by not hitting the streets in protest to an illegally sitting government.
If they get away with it learn to speak Spanish so you can make a living working for our new political junta.

  2. The precipitous decline of Canadian democracy under the Dithers-Cretin liberals has been noticed by one of the best US blogs – see http://www.belmontclub.blogspot.com/
If Dithers survives notwithstanding the repeated demonstrations of non-confidence, time to sell the Cdn homestead and move to the land of the free.

  3. Well I’m up for a good old fashion civil revolt, (war?).
God Canadians are the lamest people on earth, even in third world starving un-educated backwaters they put up a resistance to tyranny.
(big thanks to the bloggers here 8))
(won’t somebody think of the children!)
I’m thinking they must put something in the water for Canadians to be so complacent about (organized crime?) (socialist dictaters?) running the country.(good thing I sterilize mine with rye)
If it were up to me I’d hang every Liberal and NDPer, just to be sure.
Hey Echelon you listening LOL, low IQ morons.
    Bomb, assasinate, plot, terrorist.
    Hehehe got thier attention.
    Cold steel…no registration required.

  4. I just had a funny thought have any one of us sent this stuff about the rule of law to the MSM in highlighter with explanations about the gravity of these omissions by our glorious government. This is terrifically important stuff that they are ignoring if so and an awful neglect on ours if we haven’t been doing so. I would suggest sending packages to specific media reporters, and never stop. Someone someday is going to wake up and smell the excrement and get a scoop (forgive the pun) of collossal proportions.

  5. What would the Librano$ have to do to turn their Ontario,(and other} supporters against them?
    Would it be bribery?
    No,that’s OK.
    What about fiscal waste?
    No,no problem with that.
    How about fear mongering?
    Hey,that works well.
Pay-offs in brown paper bags on restaurant
    tables.
    Hey Buddies we’re the Librano$.
Would it be theatening a top bank official by telling him that if he did’nt grant a loan to a prospective buyer of your loser Hotel investment, you would drag his name through the gutter?
Nothing wrong with that Eh!,Liberal supporters.
But I know that even if I listed off another 30 skuzzy, dishonest instances of Liberal corruption, you would still insist that it is better to “vote for the devil you know”.
    Unbelieveble!
So supporters, tell me,what would be the last straw for you?
