“The French government has officially sanctioned prescriptions of chloroquine to treat certain coronavirus patients,” France 24 English reported Saturday.
“This ensures continued treatment of patients who have been treated for several years for a chronic condition with this drug, but also allows a temporary authorization to allow certain patients with coronavirus to benefit from this therapeutic route,” said France’s director general of health Jérôme Salomon.
The move comes after infectious diseases specialist Didier Raoult announced new clinical results, which can be accessed here, that show 78 out of 80 patients treated with chloroquine recovered within five days, reported Trustnodes.

It’s very important to understand that Hydroxychloroquine, by itself, is not what treats ChiCom virus. It is the vehicle that permits the other elements (of what I have started to refer to as “Trump Meds”), Zinc, in particular, to penetrate the cell wall and begin the process of helping the body to expel the virus.

Wait for it.
I read that as well. With nothing available to treat the virus this seems like a valid approach. I guess if other MDs are concerned about “complications” death does not seem to be their main concern.

Everything I am seeing out there with the official response to what I think is an overwhelming grass roots push for chloroquine, based on a knowledgeable public and a successful treatment program based on a required combination of 3 different drugs working together, is that they are going to test and authorize chloroquine only, which will fail.
This is a coordinated effort to discredit the 3 drug protocol intentionally by using only one drug. ( HaHa the orange buffoon is wrong!)

There is also a recommendation for a very high rate of vitamin C with this therapy.
In 3rd world countries high rates of intravenous vitamin C is used to treat inflammation.

Quicksilver, I fear that we are going down and any recovery will leave us looking like a third world economy. When this virus runs it’s course and it will no matter how many people it takes, getting back to a semblance of normal will be one hell of challenge. The government has shown that they are more than willing to put the people who own this country in jail. Neighbours are more than willing to push each other under the bus. Governor Whitmer’s banning of the use of hydroxychloroquine even by presecription is unconscionable. I understand that it has not yet been proven effective, and might even turn out to be of little use. But it’s relatively safe, and for many patients there is little to lose and possibly much to gain.

There is a difference between “authorize” and “approve”. The FDA has not approved this drug combination. It is authorizing its use as test. Moreover, the combination may have severe side-effects. If this were the magic solution, we would not be discussing this here. IMHO, cheaper tests are the best route now.
There are few side effects. These drugs are all well known, their side effects are known, and these drugs have been used for other illnesses for years.
In many tropical countries, Chloriquine drugs are used for anti-malarials, and are OTC, no prescription required. That is how safe that drug is.
India has also approved Chloriquine drugs as a prophylaxis for health workers, and families quarantined with patients that have tested positive. The dosing is reduced to weekly pills for only seven weeks, unless they develop symptoms, then they get the full treatment. Phil Kerpen has links in his Twitter feed.

I do hope the Zelenko regimen works. But, a little scepticism is in order. I haven’t read every article so I dont know. On what basis did the good doctor make his diagnosis, lung xrays + labs, or did he use coronavirus tests and, if so, how did he get the tests?

Thank you, Martin, it’s very helpful to know that 130/200 patients tested positive for coronavirus. Since, the chloroquines weren’t recognized by Italian or Texas doctors as exceptionally successful, it implies it has to be the full package, and administered early in the course of the disease, like we see with a lot of the antivirals.
BUT….. also keep in mind, that many of these cases, I’ll bet most, would have resolved spontaneously.
Two things I think are important to note: (1) no ICU care needed (i.e. no ventilators) and (2) no deaths. Even in a group of 200 that’s roughly 40 hospitalizations, 18 intubations and 6 deaths based on China’s numbers. A system saver I’d say.
I hope you are right and it’s not apples to oranges. I just looked at a synopsis of the early February JAMA China article. The people admitted to the hospital were already quite sick and near half were presenting with the ground glass opacities(pneumonia) and other lab markers.
