Your Property Is Theft

Exempting favoured identity groups from the normal consequences of predatory and antisocial behaviour is the Hot New Fairness, apparently, at least among the enlightened. And if someone steals your phone or laptop, it would be wrong of you to protest, especially if the thief happens to be “of colour” and therefore, obviously, entitled to your stuff. Mugging, it turns out, is a form of “social justice.” We’ve been here before, of course. As when the Harvard-educated sociology professor Crystal Fleming championed the recreational looting of trainers, in bulk, and other fashion items, on grounds that the law-abiding are “hoarding resources.”

Woke academia, breathe it in.

  1. If you’re going to take my stuff, might I suggest you start with my guns lest your looting be in vain.

    1. Let them start with the bullets, but to insure equal distribution, no more than a dozen per marxist.

  2. One of my step sons works as a security guard in the Toronto area (he retrained as a security guard after having an unpleasant junior-level job at a corporate headquarters on Bay street). Anyways, he is moving up the promotion ladder at his new job. One of his earlier security jobserver was that at an all-night grocery store. At night, there were very few shoppers in the store, and all his job entailed was to stand near the door. He was instructed never, i. e. never, to stop a shoplifter as he or she walked out of the store with the goods. My step-son complained that there was one black fellow who would load up a bag and just walk past him, smirking. The Toronto police? They don’t bother enforcing shoplifting laws. Fortunately my step son moved up to a junior management position.

    1. This reminds me of an incident, in my zany life:
About 2 years ago I was walking out of a grocery store in Calgary and once outside, I stopped walking when I saw the grocer chase a man who was walking out with stolen goods. He scolded the rascal and grabbed the stuff out of the man’s arms. The thief let go of the goods and as the grocer ran into the store I was quite surprised and blurted out kudos to him that went somewhat as follows: ” Yay, you’re a brave guy!” He didn’t look at me, but he heard me, I’m sure. He was red faced and it looked like adrenaline was pumping at 100%. I got fairly excited too as I watched closely and hoped that there weren’t going to be any bullets flying. I was at the ready to take a flying leap and duck away! The perp got in his getaway SUV and zoom off.

Such is the WILD WILD WEST!

      1. Rather : “Zoomed” past tense all right!

P.S. based on what you said about your son, David, I’m surprised the grocer chased the thief, at all.

        1. “Exempting favored identity groups from the normal consequences of predatory and antisocial behavior is the Hot New Fairness, apparently, at least amount the enlightened.”

…” the law-abiding are hoarding resources”

There is nothing about these thieves and their getting away with petty crimes being the “Hot or New or Fair,” what a silly label. This Hot New Fairness is an insult. Is it the proposal of changing the laws? It is already here, anyway, from what I can see. There are unwritten laws. There is hardly any penalty for crime.

How stupid are they to call law-abiding people who have things with which to live so we can work and pay taxes, be labeled as “hoarding resources.”

          They have crossed the line.

          Liberalism is a disease.

          1. I sat through many Sunday sermons in which the preacher urged wealth “re-distribution”. Those in the congregation who advocated that were well off compared with me, but I was portrayed as the bad guy for not wanting to “share” what little I had, even when I was desperately looking for work. To them, it wasn’t only an act of “social justice” but one of faith as well.

Meanwhile, I had groceries to buy and rent to pay. Somehow, I don’t think I would have been terribly convincing if I told my landlord that not paying for my living accommodations was socially just as well as a test of my beliefs.

The essence is that it’s my “wealth” and your “wealth” that has to be “re-distributed”, not that of the well-to-do. They need it to keep reminding us of how evil we are for trying to hang on to what we have in order to remain solvent.

Oh, and by the way, during one of my periods of unemployment during the 1980s, I was told by a certain leftist clergyman that if all nuclear weapons were abolished, there would be jobs for everyone. Audacious words from someone who could count on having a job for life.

I didn’t ‘see’ your reply of ~30 hours ago!

Your comments are appreciated on the re-distribution of wealth. A man has got to put a roof over his head and food on the table. It is life and death and it is amazing the nonsense someone will spew at you in order to make you part with your money.

You know, I have more respect for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who ring the doorbell and quietly and politely ask whether the household has any empty recyclable bottles to donate towards their cause. At least they are providing a quid pro quo, as in a service because then the person donating doesn’t have to go to the Recycling Depot and a donation is much appreciated.

There is no shaming and grabbing when a free willed donation is made, unlike the communist way.

  3. When you don’t believe in property rights, when you don’t believe in individual rights and when you don’t believe in capitalism this seems normal.
Its the socialist way and its growing like a cancer around the world. It is inevitable the cold civil war between liberty and neo-Marxism will grow hot.

    1. “When you don’t believe in property rights, when you don’t believe in individual rights…”

You’ve just described about 9/10 of Canada’s electorate.

    2. Exactly and well said. You are right about it being a cancer.

This “property is theft” is taken right out of the 1917 Bolshevik handbook. Some UN officials such as the now retired that Figurres (sp) woman are openly calling for the end of capitalism. Many of our politicians, both in the US and Canada, are anti-capitalist. All you have to do is listen to many aspiring Democrat presidents to hear their anti-capitalist ideology. Canada’s Liberal Party has since the 1960s slowly moved to the anti-capitalist left as well. The NDP’s Leap Manifesto is openly anti-capitalist.

The Frankfurt School has done its work of inculcating Marxism in our educational and media systems very well. Yuri Bezmenov the ex-KGB operative warned us.

Btw, the term ‘capitalism’ is a communist derogatory construct. The proper term is ‘free enterprise’.

We will all be Venezuelans soon.

  4. Given that they are “progressives”, I think it’s only logical and fair to assume they will become more proactive with this idea. Look around, see who doesn’t have a laptop and give it to them. Let us now hold our breath until this happens…./S

  5. Really, who is the true defender of capitalism in Canada today? The Fraser Institute if they can get their message carried. The CPC should be but they are mostly absent from the discussion. There is little to no philosophical defense. Capitalism has delivered more benefits to more people than any other ‘invention’ of mankind. That is a reality and yet the microphone is passed to a series of no minds who spew their unsubstantiated BS or their voodoo logic.

Most of the SJW advocacy is more based on skimming a living off a society to wealthy to object. Universities pump out a huge number of such people who cannot make a living other than promoting questionable ideas and skills learnt in academy that has no bottom line. Their bottom line is framed around social abstracts that are passed as facts. Their BS will not be countered until society crumbles. Unfortunately many fiscal conservatives assume that once the collapse happens that financial fundamentals will reassert themselves. What they conveniently forget is the reality of the Soviet Union and China that have never established those fundamentals in 100 years of dictatorship.

  6. I went through things like what were described in that article while I was teaching.

For example, during my last year, I taught a service course to the class from hell. Their department head assured me that there were certain standards of behaviour that they were expected to meet and that they would be enforced.

He was lying, of course, as he was close to retirement and wanted to slide into irrelevancy without any hassles. I had students who openly cheated. I had one who thought it was his right to come perpetually late and didn’t even offer an excuse, let alone a legitimate reason. Some of my students screamed at me because they felt like it because they felt they were the ones being cheated when I penalized them for certain things on their exams. One, who wasn’t Caucasian, went so far as to accuse me of racism when she didn’t get the grade on an assignment that she expected/demanded.

I brought up those issues with the department head as, after all, they were his students and, theoretically, his responsibility. Did he do anything to discipline them? Of course not. Instead, I was the one who was blamed because I didn’t (in reality, couldn’t) do anything. Had I actually imposed the discipline that they should have had, guess who would have been burned at the stake?

A number of those students failed the course, though they would have qualified for supplemental exams to bring up their grades to 50%. The protocol was they had to ask to write one and I would have complied as I never refused anyone who did. Not one peep out of that lot.

By some miracle, they all managed to graduate. I quit a few months after that course was over and, after reading their names on the graduation list, I knew that I had done the right thing.

  7. You wonder why prices are higher in the urban areas?

Theoretically they should be lower, as they are closer to the warehouses and have more traffic than a store located in the suburbs.

Eventually there will need to be a replacement for the non-existent police and justice system, if the merchants are going to remain. Some enterprising miscreant will offer a real protection service, where smirking grocery stealer is discouraged by a little personal mayhem by the miscreant.

Two or three percent off the top is better than losing ten or twenty percent out the door. At least that is how it will start.

    And end, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WeK9e07Y65o

Most of the immigrants will recognize the system almost immediately, as it will look a lot like ones they left behind.

  8. It’s time to defund Universities. This survival crime forgiveness forgets those that are victimized and destabilizes society. Law and order is a cornerstone in a fair democratic society. Otherwise gangs of thugs take over and the law abiding become sheep to the wolves that will come brazenly to their door time and again. Those profs getting paid to subvert our country’s legal system should not be getting a dime of taxpayer money.

    1. Martin B., yes, absolutely agree.
I witnessed the same type of shoplifting and vandalism in Surrey in the 1990’s. There was this Vietnamese grocer who ran a good business, fresh produce, good prices. A group of white kids would bedevil ( and these were NOT street kids but residents of a middle class neighborhood) him by stealing produce from the display outside his store, then just throw it away into the parking lot.
I asked him why he didn’t call the vaunted RCMP. He said he did call, they sent a car once, the kids were long gone, and they wouldn’t come again. I called the RCMP about it as I’d witnessed the kids stealing from him then running off, and their reply was they couldn’t be everywhere at once, which I suppose is true.
Had said grocer taken the law into his own hands,he’d probably still be in prison,so the little bastards got off scot free. The grocer eventually moved out of Surrey as he was sick of the shoplifting, and I never saw him again. I hope he did well in a new place.
What really pissed me off was this guy was a Vietnamese “boat people”, who came here and busted his ass to make a living and pay taxes, and the main thing he learned about Canada was we don’t enforce our laws.

Our solution now is to bring immigrants into the country who don’t have a work ethic and no respect for our laws or customs. This country is being f***ed up so badly I don’t believe it can be fixed in the current format.

Our new slogan should be, “The West Wants Out”.

  9. “The latest fad in criminal-justice activism is the concept of “survival crime.” The theory holds that the homeless, the poor, and people of color commit property crimes and low-level infractions in order to secure their basic survival. Any enforcement of these laws is thus a violation of their basic human rights…”

Yeah, that will be next notch in the accomplishments of the *.
This is right up his alley.
If you don’t think so, just observe.

    * Is the person that for some unfathomable reason managed to become PM of Canada.

  10. For socialists it is no different from FBI using made up argument to spy on Trump.
Demoralize the schools, first step. Demoralize universities. Demoralize the proletariat.
Once that is done and they get the power pretending to be the good guys, then they can safely say that they need the police power to set things straight.
That will follow by arrests of their opponents, judicial murders and Venezuela will be vindicated.

Been done before, it’s happening now, don’t be silly, (not in the US as yet) and it will happen in future.
We in this country are well on the way there. The “human” rights tribunals have worked well for the communists that run the socialist, totalitarian diktat countries of Europe most of the 20th century.
The justice industry, the media cartel, the politicians are in full agreement and the proletariat is happy with free stuff.

    So who you gonna call?

    1. “So who you gonna call?” Good question.

There are not many left to call, as per a series of evolving laws we are becoming a nation of “Whisperers”. See Orlando Figes.

Some survivor someday may write about in “The Gulag Archipelago” Season 2.

  11. Robert A. Heinlein once very accurately described thieves as “freelance socialists”. Not to excuse their behavior but one could argue that the institutionalization of socialism throughout modern societies has reached a level where we now live in a culture where looting and thuggery is overpowering the morality inherent in capitalism. The institutional rot is also present in all major political parties to varying degrees.

  12. The Never Done paying crew fully support this concept.
I recall one of their full time leeches,er Member of parliament, stating exactly that.
We must increase welfare to the “needy” or they will be “forced” to steal what they need.
    Danegeld never stops.

    1. “We must increase welfare to the “needy” or they will be “forced” to steal what they need.”

That would be fine as long as government agents didn’t make the stealing a risk free choice. Thieves need to die.
If people defended their property and killed/injured the thieves, it would be up to the thieves to consider the associated risks.
As it stands now, government is literally a criminal accessary.

    2. And it’s only the working class that pays that danegeld. The proles mustn’t become too prosperous, you know.

  13. Niall Ferguson has an interesting perspective in this video The 6 killer apps of prosperity:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpnFeyMGUs8

    The apps are:
    1. Competition
    2. The Scientific Revolution
    3. Property rights
    4. Modern medicine
    5. The consumer society
    6. The work ethic
enjoy. Especially the two “experiments” that prove his point.

  14. How do these idiots explain the massive majority of poor, disadvantaged, of colour or whatever, or unlucky who manage to go through life without theft or other crime? They don’t of course. Shut up they’ll explain as Kate would say – their SOP.

    1. No longer relevant in a God is dead society in which Marx is the new Baal and the Life Giver.

      1. If the modern church is to be believed, Marx is the final prophet, the last apostle.

        1. Marx probably thought he was God since he alone could decide what individuals’ wants, needs or desires were, indeed their very thoughts, pre-determined (by him), based on their class.

Marx was apparently immune from his bourgeoisie class determinism, the son of a wealthy lawyer who married into the Prussian royal family.

Hypocrisy, contradiction, irony and paradoxes are as lost on current Marxists (Democrats, progressives, statists, socialists, establishment elitists) as they were at his genesis of identity politics.

They are so wise they can levitate above their class, despite being members of royalty, surely the most bourgeoisie of the bourgeoisie.

In reality Marx was a junk philosopher, with no understanding of human nature, and his tried and untrue assumptions linger on to this day, followed by a trail of blood and shared misery (except for the favoured and levitated ones of course).

  15. What does anyone think the income tax is all about?

Since the state has granted itself the power to take what it did not work for – the “taxing” of income, i.e., the fruit of one’s labour – then why should members of society behave any differently for anything else?

  16. Reminder that simians with IQs below 80 who are incapable of any honest toil a machine can’t do, and who can only support themselves through petty theft and prostitution, have no place in civilized society. None at all.

Catch them, neuter and spay them, return them to point of origin. They can steal cellphones in Liberia.

(North America never had a crime problem. It had a plague of feral Africans, which generations of elites simply refused to cull, thinking the plague preferable to paying white men an honest day’s wage for an honest day’s work.

If US history has a moral, it is this: there is nothing more costly than cheap labour.)

  17. Isn’t the LCBO in Ontario doing this exact same thing? They are allowing the theft of alcohol to be done by the bag full by thieves that know they will do nothing. The LCBO has instructed their employees to do nothing to protect their/our property. Literally thousands of dollars are being stolen, some 9,000 incidents so far. Employees say it happens every day. The bums used to open the bottle and drink it dry through straws, now they just steal the whole bottle.
