  1. Mean Gene Okerlund, the professional wrestling announcer and interviewer died today also at age 76. He was the official face of the Midwestern American Wrestling Association (AWA) in the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s. He made it big in Vince McMahon’s WWF / WWE Wrestling Association in the 1980’s along with Hulk Hogan and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

    Lots of good memories from watching him on TV and in person at the old Saint Paul Civic Center.

    1. It just isn’t proper wrestling without Mean Gene. Much of his work is on youtube and seems timeless, I bet there is a Sisseton SD kindergarten class photo where is already bald with a moustache.

      He set up some of the most entertaining promos ever, playing the straight man to things like Macho Mans ‘cup of coffee’ and ‘cream of the crop’, his feigned intimidated when the heels would get upset, his morally superior baby face indignation like in “Once again I am appalled by the treachery and villainy practiced by the Hart Foundation. ; “Yeah, well practice makes perfect!”.

      I want to believe that somewhere in Heaven right now he is doing an interview that sets up one of Bobby Heenan’s epic freak outs.

    2. When I lived in Winnipeg in the early 1980s Mean Gene was on wrestling on TV. He was good but being weaned on Stampede Wrestling, I was more fond of Ed Whalen. Both were masters of the craft – wimpy guys presenting mean tough guys to the public.

    3. rd,yes,I well remember Mean Gene,and Ed Whalen,they were great “straight men” for the rasslers. Men Gene’s kid,Todd was a pretty good hockey player, played on the U.S 1988 Olympic team, but never made it in the NHL.

      A lot of celebrity deaths the last couple of days,Gene,Bob, and Capt. Darryl. My Grandmother always said deaths come in threes,so I guess it’s over until the next trio shuffles off.

    The title is completely bombastic, possibly ballistic. Certainly more ballistic that the president’s actual talk.
    Trump talks to people that ask questions. In a plain manner. The media cartel will probably not show this. He does not talk like the bottom feeders. Talks plain language. Knows his stuff. Talks like Trump talks.
    It’s interesting to watch and listen. Maybe not everybody’s cup of tea …. as the saying goes.

        If all churches are forced to renounce their beliefs they end up like the Anglicans or UCC or Lutherans. Irrelevant.

  21. I highly recommend Tucker Carlson’s book “Ship of Fools”. Its great value is in documenting how the political terrain has shifted over the last 15 or 20 years. It also makes it clear how political priorities are seriously misguided and will entail serious consequences if people do not wake up. Many, many sacred cows on the left are ultimately destructive — identity politics is one. Blue collar men — not women — are the ones who are seriously undervalued and suffering these days. The environmental focus on “climate change” is resulting in the scary neglect of real environmental issues. How did we get to be so stupid? Well, misinformation and deliberate manipulation by the elite class has contributed a lot. While SDA readers will be familiar with a number of the issues that Carlson discusses, he puts a lot of meat on the bones with facts, figures, examples and analysis of well-known political hypocrites. (e.g. Not so long ago, Hillary and others were calling for a wall on the Mexican border.) Go figger.
