Cognitive dissonance, especially if reinforced over time, is a powerful tool for breaking a subject’s will and conditioning him to blind obedience. For the masters of the Left to obtain the unthinking cooperation of Leftist activists and voters requires that those persons be broken to utter and automatic acceptance of any position the Left’s top strategists and tacticians decide to promulgate.

   Having said that, BEWARE! For there are persons in every political family who seek that kind of power — and the tactic is not absent from their playbooks. Consider the “NeverTrump” community.
