Social Disease

Stephen Crowder;

Dorsey, Zuckerberg and Co. have now taken an active role in deciding what information people should and should not have in these critical days leading up to the election.

Not everyone is thrilled.

Their attempts to cover up the Hunter Biden emails story last week backfired on them. They’re now getting all kinds of scrutiny. I wrote last Friday that the Senate Commerce Committee is going to have a hearing next week with Dorsey, Zuckerberg, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. They’re going to be exploring whether the protections granted tech companies under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act enable “big tech bad behavior.”

Many think Section 230 should no longer apply to Big Tech, including Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn…

Certain Republicans must now weigh the Big Cash they get from Big Tech against the certainty Big Tech will rig the next election against them.

Russia! Russia! Russia!

A podcast interview, grab a coffee.

Did the “Woke Blacks” Instagram account really cost Clinton the election? Glenn Greenwald returns to the show to ask basic but rarely asked questions about the troll army’s presumed efficacy, explain his often mischaracterized position on Russiagate, and call out Republicans and Democrats for hypocritically supporting unfettered power for national security state surveillance.

Red Rose Country

After the failure of the right to invigorate the Calgary voter last week, the Alberta NDP goes on the offensive.

That’s not her new title, of course. Her new designation is infrastructure minister. But her unofficial job will be to build the government’s credibility and popularity in Calgary. That is a daunting construction project.
The NDP may have won 15 seats in the city last election, but it is deeply unpopular in Calgary, according to every public opinion poll. Premier Rachel Notley is looking for ways to reverse the trend.

Cause the polls are so accurate….

Steven Fletcher booted from caucus

Harsh, but considering the circumstances, necessary.

The decision to shun Fletcher comes after a difficult year which saw the Assiniboia MLA frequently cross swords with his own party. He introduced numerous private member’s bills without consulting his caucus or submitting them to internal reviews. Fletcher also filibustered at committee a government bill that would create a stand-alone energy efficiency agency.
The last straw, the sources confirmed, was Fletcher’s collaboration with Manitoba Forward, an advocacy group that has also been very critical of the creation of a new energy efficiency organization.

Really, Steven?

Peace?

Colombia and FARC to sign peace deal today.

Mr Santos said the deal with the Farc was fair and that it made those who committed war crimes accountable.
The rebels have agreed to lay down their weapons and the process that will be verified by the United Nations.
“Maybe some of them will hide some guns. That’s a natural thing that happens in these peace processes,” he said.
“But they are going to give up the majority of their weapons.”
