Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
It would appear the video came from Quebec. “Ordinaire” for “regular”? And the pump prices look like current dollars/liter, not current U.S. dollars per gallon.
I wasn’t quite sure what was meant by “tug on the reader” but the video demo was simple and to the point.
A useful drill to start practising at the pumps.
Mind you, what exactly should you do if you find a reader? Confront the gas station owner or call the cops?
Interesting scam, never knew about this one!
Thank you for posting this, Lance!
call the cops
Call the cops. It was prolly the attendant that put it there.
Pay Inside.
The stations around Minnesota have also had readers installed inside the pump itself. They jimmy the cover and add the reader on the ribbon cable inside. The stations are installing tape over the access covers to help detect tampering.
Unlike many criminals, these people have some brains, not many, but some.
Thanks for posting this Lance.
Kinda like pay the Ho with a credit card, you never know when the spending will stop:-)))
I always pay inside, just for that reason
Also check the keypad. And if you find a fake get the hell out of there asap and call the cops. The people who put those things in are nasty, nasty people — east European mafiosi. And they often monitor the location. We got a presentation on credit and debit card fraud from the city police.
122.4 cents per liter ! $4.63/gallon $3.52 U$D
The credit card thieves are not the only ones stealing your money.
Rest assured that if this happens at a Canadian gas station, no one will get charged. Credit card fraud convictions here are almost nil. We wouldn’t want to offend Mr. Trudeau’s immigrants, now would we??? Much easier to go after seniors for not having Fido on a leash.
“The credit card thieves are not the only ones stealing your money.”
That would be your friendly provincial and federal governments.
Paying inside is now my new habit. In cash. Oh. Baby.
