  1. I always check the clearance bins and shelves in my local grocery. I’m a scavenger and can make a meal out of the “find of the day”.

In the freezer clearance section, there has been a LOT of plant-based meat products finding their way there. They just don’t sell so the store takes a markdown and moves them out. I have noticed several times that even at clearance prices, the products are often at the “Best By” date and will have to be ‘dumpsterized’ the next day.

People just aren’t buying fake meat in my neck of the woods.

At another blog, when we heard fake meat was coming, several of the denizens there dug into the details of the ingredients and the processing. UGH! I would not ingest that fake stuff at all after what we learned. The U.S. EPA should declare those plants as hazardous waste cleanup sites.

My point though is that the people in my area haven’t heard the details of “how the (fake) sausage is made” yet they are still rejecting it. My only guess is that people still have sense enough to realize; what’s the point of paying more for fake meat when you can just buy the real thing?

    1. I used to work nights at a grocery store. Whenever I needed something to do I would head to the organic crap aisle and pull expired product.
‘Baked with Love’ is not as good as Baked with a few mild preservatives.

Truly disgusting the amount of stuff thrown away.

    2. HR, In my neck of the woods the fake meat display has increased in size. I don’t know if it’s selling, or they are trying hard to make it seem like a good idea. As to having “the sense to buy real meat”, I suspect that the plan is to continue to increase the supply of the fake stuff, and price the real stuff out of reach. Kind of a boiling the frog slowly approach. If they do it rapidly, people would revolt, but slowly, not so much. They also need time to ramp up production of it. Time to cultivate some friendship with the local farmers.

  2. Bible predicted this would happen in the last days in 1Timothy 4:3

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
