Much more murder in America in 2020: What’s different?

After several decades of declining murder rates in America, suddenly this past year has shown a major spike upward.  What’s different?  Might it be because Leftists across the nation have given carte blanche approval of lawlessness?  Asking for a friend.

  1. You used to hear about the “Ferguson Effect”, referring to when the police pulled back in Ferguson Missouri in response to riots, and jungle rules moved in to fill the void…

  2. Homicides way up in Minneapolis and Saint Paul Minnesota, home of the 4 days of unopposed George Floyd Riots.

The police were kept out of “George Floyd Square” after a recent shooting. They were finally escorted into the crime scene by an activist after the wonderful, kind, caring members of the Woke community had gathered up the shell casings and other evidence of the gunfire, and of course they all refused to cooperate with the investigation.

I guess they learned from their political and ideological predecessors the KKK, that silence and terror will triumph over law and order.

Probably a contributing factor. I think it’s because of the spike in unemployment, caused by the lockdowns.
The suicide rate is spiking too, caused by the lockdowns. Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance in “the Shining” comes to mind.
Murder and suicide are what happens when groups of people get locked into the Overlook Hotel, isolated for the winter.
Anyway, blame the lawlessness on the same people who are responsible for the lockdowns says I.

    1. Eminently sensible, Oz. This may well be a case of the cure being far worse than the disease. And that’s without discussing the long term effects of shattered businesses, whole sectors gutted and taken over by the high tech industry or retailing giants, the smashing of small businesses like the restaurant sector. The question becomes how much of this was known and expected by the scum who have orchestrated this.

    2. I saw a study a while back that said for every 1% of unemployment, there is an increase in the death rate of 50,000 people annually from all causes. Mostly it was attributed to drug use, crime, suicide, and various poverty related problems like poor diet and such.

Extrapolating that data to Canada gives us 5,000 people for 1% unemployment. Kinda makes our 15k CCP virus deaths seem small in comparison.

  4. The left and communist activities would be the reason. The push to destroy America went into high gear in 2020.

    1. It is a tradition whitey should be sensitive to… but one we probably should not be appropriating.

  5. Apparently these cities aren’t moving the goal posts like Baltimore as they’re down 3%. Very likely someone dying by homicide there has been lumped in with China virus deaths.
To the other cities I say come on man!

  6. Of those areas where the spike in murder and violent crime is highest I would bet money Soros money installed the DA.
    Just guessing.
