When we get past the most severe risk portion of this pandemic, Canadians need to investigate in depth what happened in the Winnipeg lab, and oversight of that must be given to reliable and credible people (in our establishment, don’t know who would even make the short list). This virus seems to have been associated with the later movements of the Chinese scientists kicked out of that facility in 2017 and even after that, samples of some dangerous types were sent to Beijing.

    I am not in any position to know what happened, but I do find it very strange that there was even any access to such a place for Chinese government researchers (and in that society, anyone who holds down any important job is sanctioned by their government).

    Have to wonder if everyone in the power structure in Beijing is happy with Chairman Xi at this point. Would not be totally surprised to see him disappear or face trouble. He has dragged that country back to the worst days of the Maoist experiment which was not universally appreciated even among communists. One could pray for an even better outcome than that but suspect divine intervention is the only plausible path to the total overthrow of that odious regime. But as to Canadian elites who make common cause with the PRC, they should be permanently removed from their positions of influence. If this doesn’t convince people, nothing can I suppose (quite out of step with Canadian values here at the minor gulag).

    1. You are seriously asking for an investigation by the folks that looked the other way while the attorney general was being strong armed to interfere in the judicial proceeding of the SNC case?

      If it is deemed potentially embarrassing to the government (executive or administrative) it goes down the memory hole.

      I don’t find it strange at all.

      It’s always about MONEY. Its starts in the Universities – Take a Good look at them across the Country. Not one of them would think of turning away a young Chinese National with a briefcase full of cash..?? That was/is something no SOCIALIST (as they all are), University Administration would pass up. Then, upon us teaching them – they use their newly acquired Cdn credentials to worm their way into our sensitive industries for the express purpose of ESPIONAGE.

        Exactly. If universities had their way, there would be nothing but Chinese students attending. For those institutions, the only requirement for admission is lots of $$$.

        The Chinese have completely infiltrated the system. There’s hardly a department that hasn’t got one of them among the newly-hired faculty.

  5. Peter this is Canada, the post national nation. Where everything is, as many have said, sunny days and sunny ways. If this “pandemic” does not produce the numbers required for all the insanity just who will be held responsible? No matter what anyone says numbers are important. It irritates people a great deal when I say that because they are unwilling to even think that they were given the shaft as it were.

  6. It makes no sense that the Chinese would supply faulty equipment, the probability of discovery is too high. There is a good chance, maybe a high probability, that the claim is a flat-out lie. The British government has a policy of lying about everything connected to Russia and China. Remember the novichok hoax? Or Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction? Or the various hoaxes being run by the White Helmets in Syria? The White Helmets are run by MI 6.

  8. It is time to boycott anything and everything Chinese. Even if we have to pay many times more for it, we must stop encouraging this demon dragon.

    1. Any Western Country not suing China for this is insane.

      China has declared war on the world. It is that simple. Have nothing to do with them. They own $ trillion in US Treasury Bills, Bonds and Notes. They are totally electronic entries and the US Government can “quarantine” those holdings until the court cases against China are settled.

    My new normal is to question every retail store why they are still selling Chinese goods. I have always been pretty diligent about avoiding chinese products when possible, but I am redoubling my efforts now for sure.

    Add the fact that our news media are printing facts from the Chinese government that cannot be confirmed.

    Well I’m looking at all of the news broadcast with a jaundiced eye and I am sceptical of the chocolate pudding that they are trying to feed me. If governments want to usurp power from the electorate this is the ideal excuse and the only person to throw a stick in their wheel has been Trump. Is that the reason that the Democrats have spend four years in trying to unseat him by fair means and foul, mainly foul. Trump escorted in a massive boom in America after Obama tried to fundamentally change America. This boom was taking a toll on China. The depths of depravity that mankind will descend to in order to rule their fellow man knows no bounds. Think of the pogroms of the Jews in Russia in the 1980’s and 1900’s, chemical warfare in WWI, the Holodomor in Ukraine in the 1930’s, the German atrocities in the 1930’s and 40’s, the Mao revolution in China. Now think what this virus has caused and then consider how we arrived here.
