6 Replies to “Not Watching For The Asteroid”

  1. “Media companies have relied on TV advertising dollars for more than 60 years, using money from commercials and sponsors to fund variety shows, sitcoms, dramas and news-gathering.”
Well they pretty much wasted the income on those shows. We watch a bit of 6 o’clock news and my wife watches a few cooking shows (not the reality ones), some curling and tennis. All that drama, near as I can tell is brainless glop. Pablum would be a good sponsor.

  2. CAS … I am slightly sick, and awoke late last night flipping channels (to avoid advisements) to settle on an Olympic curling match between “The Athletes of Russia” vs Great Britain women. Women’s curling. Who knew? The announcers provided a nice description of the ice as having a rain-droplet surface which caused the stones to float over the ice … however I had two other questions that I expect a curling aficiando like you could answer:
    1. Shoes: what kind of shoes are worn by the participants? They appear to “skate” over the ice, yet simultaneously have enough grip to leverage themselves. The shoes appeared to be flat-bottomed … so what is the material on the bottom of their shoes?
    2. Beautiful women: is curling always performed by HOT, FIT, young women? Dang! I couldn’t stop watching the close ups of BOTH these women’s curling teams. Forget women’s beach volleyball … I’ll take women’s curling? The Russian girls were hotter than a “Russian Bride” advertisement. And these had to be the most beautiful women ever to hail from GB. They could have been “Brit Pop” Stars prancing on a stage. Every time one of the “throwers” squatted down, so athletically, so low, behind the stone … my imagination ran wild. Even now, I feel like I need a cold shower.
When you say “we” watch curling … I have to ask? Did you nab one of those HOT curling athletes? Are you curled-up in bed watching the sport with one of those hotties?

  3. “…is curling always performed by HOT, FIT, young women?”
Not always, but at the high levels of competition, fitness counts and fit young women are consistently more attractive than unfit ones and good fitness makes older women look younger.
