  1. Edmonton police chief backs province-wide street check policy
“The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is very clear on when we are required to warn an individual when we interact with them, and when an individual is legally bound to provide personal information. Our officers must follow the Charter,” said Knecht in his statement.
According to a written statement provided to CBC News by Staff Sgt. Warren Driechel of the intelligence branch, the policy lays out rules for officers carrying out a street check while clarifying the rights of individuals involved in one.
“It defined what a street check is, how it differs from detention and arrests, a member’s responsibilities when conducting and reporting a street check,” said Driechel.

  2. DARPA funds 30 KW X4 liquid piston engine that is 90 times lighter than a conventional 2700 lb military 30 KW diesel generator
LiquidPiston develops compact, quiet, fuel-efficient, low-vibration, multi-fuel-capable combustion engines that are scalable from 1 hp to over 1,000 hp, based on the company’s patented High Efficiency Hybrid Cycle and rotary X engine architecture
LiquidPiston will be developing its X4 test rig: a prototype 30 kW diesel X-engine, with targeted brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) of 186 g/kWh (better fuel efficiency than heavy duty truck engines, and twice the fuel economy of a gasoline engine over a typical drive cycle). The X4 is designed for extremely high specific power, with an objective of 1.5 hp/lb, making it up to ten times (10x) more powerful than a standard diesel engine with the same weight.
The entire 40 hp engine is targeted to fit into a 10″ x 8″ x 8″ box and weigh just 30 lbs (not 2700 lbs for regular technology, this would be 90 times less). In this first phase of the program, LiquidPiston will build a test rig that will support future optimization efforts towards these objectives

  3. Wanna keep talking about Kevin O’Leary? I think we need to scare him off, it wouldn’t take much, he’s timid, rejection might scar him for life. If we could create a No Name Party he would fit in. His idea on Peace Keeping to deal with warring factions abroad fits in with the NDP, he’s pondering a run for the Conservatives because that’s what’s open but he obviously agrees with the Trudeau cabal on the peace keeping file as well. He’s an unknown quantity.
Can’t compare him to Trump who spelled it all out, people knew what he was about, take it or leave it, he won and the elites and their media lost big time.

  4. DARPA(Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) with an annual budget of just under 3 billion has granted 2.5 million for further work on the engine. If the engine is so good why does it require tax dollars to support its development?
When the Wankel engine didn’t work out as advertised for Mazda, they took the hit not the taxpayer.

  5. Koch Brothers tell the Alberta communist government to shove their regulations and carbon tax.
Koch Oil Sands Operating (KOSO) sent a letter to the AER on Wednesday, asking the regulator to cancel its Muskwa SAGD project due to serious concerns in relation to government policy which has deteriorated the economic opportunities of the project. KOSO cites regulations and carbon taxation as the main reasons it will not go ahead with the development. Read the letter below:

  7. No media party, wall to wall coverage of liberal government being responsible for Canadian tourist killed by terrorists in Jordan, like it would have been under PM Harper.

  8. Some of you may be familiar with a recent story where the Chinese military seized an American underwater unmanned drone in the South China Sea. Pres. Trump has now made a public statement where he said the Chinese can keep the device in spite of the fact that the Chinese Military have agreed to return it. This is the story from CBC.Ca.
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-china-drone-1.3902166
And this was my comment that was deleted. I’m assuming CBC does not like the word ”commies,” and also assuming that the purpose of this CBC article was primarily produced to discount Donald Trump, and not so much to educate us on US relations with China:
”There’s a very good reason why the US Military would be willing to let the Chinese have it. It was probably left there to be found, and had bogus technology to deceive the commies.”(End of quote.)
So why did I use the word ”Commies.” My mother was born of French and German parents. Our German ancestors arrived in Western Canada from Odessa, Ukraine after the Russian Revolution when the Bolsheviks took over the control of Ukraine in late 1919. Only days before they left for Canada, their best friends, close neighbours near Odessa, a family of 8, were executed when the Bolsheviks entered their property, drank water from their well, ate their food then killed them all before leaving. Little wonder some of my aunts and uncles referred to Communists as ”commies.”
In 1944, Tommy Douglas was going to visit the community where my German ancestors lived. Doulgas wanted to rent a school where he was going to deliver a speech. He was so despised that they refused to rent him a school, hall or any facility, and told him if he showed up there, (quote) ”he would live to regret it.”
Now you know why I despise the CBC, and communists. And who but the CBC promotes communism, ethno-masochism, and Tommy Douglas’ philosophy??

  9. The younger generation and many of our journalists have no notion of how brutal the Communists were. One of the reasons I liked the idea of the Memorial to Victims of Communism was that it promised to be an opportunity to preserve our memory of the brutality of Communism and of the Cold War. I do not know at this point if the Liberals are still planning such a memorial, but I can tell you that the spot in front of the Supreme Court building remains a cold and soulless empty space. (Reminds me of some of our justices.)

  10. Folks need to get the message. This will soon be happening elsewhere. A CARBON TAX is a very, very stupid idea.

  11. Let nature take its course, been saying this all along in other forums. The lefties and bleeding hearts heads are exploding, they call that a “psychopathic statement”.
In the mind of the bleeding heart, that has never been exposed, up close and personal to an addict, they should be “saved” by another shot of naloxone, anytime, anyday, cuz we should feel sorry for them, coddle them, and allow the dregs to continue their honest life of stealing, thieving, B&Es, scamming, dealing, and ODing again. Cuz government needs to build massive recovery centers and treatment centers, and SAVE them.
    Save them for what?
“It could happen to you” “Heartless” “It could happen anybody, or your kids” “You’re a psychopath”.
The bleeding heart left just does not believe in personal responsibility, its always the fault of someone else, something else, government’s fault or society’s fault. Definitely NOT the addict’s fault, no, no, never, nothing at all. The Media says so! The mindlessness from Comrade Gregor, Christy, and the Ministry of Health is something to behold, “saving” the addicts, to rob, steal, cheat and OD for another day!

  12. The Obama administration will allow wind turbine operators to kill 4,200 federally protected bald eagles before facing any penalties.
Under a finalized rule, wind turbine owners will not face a penalty if they kill or injure up to 4,200 bald eagles — that’s almost four times the current limit.
Wind farms kill an estimated 573,000 birds each year and 888,000 bats, according to a 2013 peer-reviewed study published in Wildlife Society Bulletin. Wind farms are projected to kill 1.4 million birds annually by 2030.

  13. many are applauding the skyrocketing growth of China’s fledgling solar-cell industry. Solar power and other “green” technologies, by providing electricity from renewable energy sources like the sun and wind, create hope for a world free of coal-burning pollution and natural resource depletion. A recent Washington Post article, however, has revealed that China’s booming solar industry is not as green as one might expect. Many of the solar panels that now adorn European and American rooftops have left behind a legacy of toxic pollution in Chinese villages and farmlands.

“PUNTO FIJO, Venezuela (Reuters) – Struggling to feed herself and her seven children, Venezuelan mother Zulay Pulgar asked a neighbor in October to take over care of her six-year-old daughter, a victim of a pummeling economic crisis.
The family lives on Pulgar’s father’s pension, worth $6 a month at the black market rate, in a country where prices for many basic goods are surpassing those in the United States.

  19. Make that 3 of us. I was born in the shadow of the Red Army in what used to be West Berlin.
My mother often told me about what happened after the end of WW II. The Reds occupied her family’s house for a few weeks after which they left due to some horse-trading with the other Allies. That section of Berlin then came under British control and, apparently, the residents saw the Brits as liberators from the Soviets.
Later, after reunification and the breakup of the U. S. S. R., the Russians departed. Apparently, few people in Berlin were sad to see them go.
On the other hand, the Americans came as conquerors and left as friends. Many people remembered what they did during the blockade that Stalin imposed more than 40 years earlier.

  20. In a ruling that references butter knives, euthanasia and cats named Slimey and Oinky, a Saskatoon judge made an impassioned defence of the notion that, when it comes to the law, dogs should not be treated as though they were children.
The judge ruled that dogs are property and should not be treated as children. He said that should be obvious to all based on a bit of logical, dispassionate thought:
“In Canada, we tend not to purchase our children from breeders.
“We tend not to breed our children with other humans to ensure good bloodlines, nor do we charge for such services.
“When our children are seriously ill, we generally do not engage in an economic cost/benefit analysis to see whether the children are to receive medical treatment, receive nothing or even have their lives ended to prevent suffering.
“When our children act improperly, even seriously and violently so, we generally do not muzzle them or even put them to death for repeated transgressions.”
