Evening update: The coup appears to have failed, with both sides claiming control.

  1. There’s a coup goin’on. (Hey, isn’t that a song?).
A time to rejoice, Ergodan was an Islamist and profiteer from ISIS and the “refugee” surge (invasion) into Europe.

  2. “a member of NATO…Hmmmmmm….what will obungles do now???”
Why send over the peaceful Muzzies and Peace Corps to support his bum-boy! Oh wait. Is there even any such thing as either anymore?

  3. …the Black shit matter crowd is vacationing in Turkey…Reports coming soon!

  4. The Kemalists have taken a stand and said “Enough with the Islamist policies”. Kemal Ataturk legacy still remains thank god.

  5. What’s that old Chinese phrase about “living in interesting times”? Could’ve been cribbed from a fortune cookie…

  6. It has happened before in Turkey. The Armed Forces are dyed in the wool Ataturk followers (I helped lay a wreath at his tomb, been there…) and have stopped the Islamists before. Erdogan has tried to decapitate the military top brass but it appears it hasn’t worked.

  7. They might not succeed. People are apparently confronting them. Time for strategic use of napalm.

  8. It seems Merkel finally found a refugee she wouldn’t let into Germany. I just read Erdogan landing denied.

  9. In addition to what Robert said above, the world’s foremost authority on all things Turkey will be on the John Batchelor Shiw at 10 EST tonight. Talking Turkey!

  10. Just for the Hell of it, Vladimir Putin should denounce this coup attempt, and offer assistance to the Erdogan government, just to completely blow Obama’s mind.
At the end of the day,I wish the coup-sters good luck, string the Islamist ISIS-oil-selling SOB up from the nearest lamp post.

  11. For the military this is all or nothing. They can’t just go back to the barracks.

  12. Probably threaten the military until they let his muslim buddy back in power.

  13. Too bad the coup appears to have not been successful. Heads are going to roll and the effort toward a more radical Islamism will accelerate.

  14. Isn’t it time that we send in Stephan Dion to straighten this whole mess out. He really is the voice of reason in this complicated world.

  15. Lots of up-to-the-minute reporting here:

Looks like the coup is failing but Erdogan is convinced that it’s his ex-buddy, the imam in Pennsylvania, who is responsible and not as we had hoped the secularist military staging it.

  16. “Erdogan is convinced that it’s his ex-buddy, the imam in Pennsylvania, who is responsible”
That would be Hillary’s money stream (iman in Penn)…..She has failed again….No more Oil Money

  17. “Heads are going to roll”
I sure as hell don’t envy those responsible for this apparently failed coup. I don’t think the punishment will be limited to a verbal reprimand and being confined to barracks for a few days.

  18. Apparently the idiots in charge forgot to tell the soldiers they were part of a coup. Why was Erdogan allowed to live?
