The Green Party of Canada condemns in the strongest possible terms comments by Monika Schaefer, a former candidate, regarding her views on the Holocaust.
“Monika Schaefer’s comments denying the Holocaust are outrageous and shocking. Ms. Schaefer has no standing within the Green Party of Canada, and her views are exclusively her own,” said Emily McMillan, Executive Director of the Green Party of Canada.

Our green candidate in the last election was Paul Manley, son of one-time MP Jim Manly. Manly senior is best known for being arrested on the ill-fated ‘Ship to Gaza’ some years ago.

Denounce her, kick her out of the Green Party, whatever, but freedom of speech is to important to restrict it to things we like.

Complex question with many plausible answers.
One answer is that Israel has been extremely successful economically.
The left has a zero-sum view of economic success; it is always purchased at the price of someone else’s failure: a profit is someone else’s loss. And today there’s also the “damage to the planet”.
In 1967 the whole west rooted for little Israel: the little country that could.
I remember it very well (I was 18).
That is long, long, long ago in time and ideology.
