  1. No wonder so many of our journalism schools are churning out good little Marxists.
This article is just a little more evidence that the radical left is allied with ISIS to destroy liberal democracy.

  2. One wonders just how many heads Burman thinks that Harper, Abbot & Cameron have cut off? This drivel is over the top, even for the Star, and well into tinfoil hat moon-bat territory. Just another reason why I never read the Star, the poorest excuse for a newspaper in all of Canada. And he claims to be a “teacher” of journalism. What a laugh.

  3. Substitute “climate change” for “IS” in his rant and you see a great example of how a different political bogeyman is being used by the left to bring fear to the voter to their advantage. But the science is still in dispute on climate change, whereas the science is most definitely settled on ISIS. Perhaps he should be called an “ISIS denier”.
Funny how thestar.com didn’t permit comments on that article…I wonder why oh why?

  4. I attended Ryerson in Journalism in the mid 60’s – yes 50 years ago. If any moron like Burman had either shown up as a student – or worse, as an instructor – he would have been drummed/laughed out of the place.
It’s amazing how stupid someone can be. It’s a wonder he remembers to breathe.

  5. As you well say.
In fact, however, one could also argue that, if what Mr. Burman says is true, that particular gentleman would have had his own head hacked off long ago by the man himself, with video linked at Mr. Harper’s YouTube channel and Twitter feed, on its way to becoming Conservative Party “snuff” — sorry, “attack” ads.
Which would make no sense, of course, because if Mr. Burman had had his head hacked off by Mr. Harper, he couldn’t possibly have written what he wrote, right? Or, at least, I think that’s right: it’s equally true, I think, from what I have seen so far on this campaign, however, that writing something for a national “news” organization in this country does not, you know, actually require that one has a brain, apparently.
Which is all very non-sequitur and serendipitous, naturally. But it certainly cannot hold a candle to the uber non-sequitur and serendipitous nature of the media’s carrying-on about the Duffy business over the weekend. Heck, they’re even salaciously reporting today that Mr. Bayne is accusing Mr. Wright of lying to Mr. Harper by NOT telling the latter that Mr. Duffy was not going to repay his own expenses. Whaaa?
With all the hullabaloo about absolutely nothing (Mr. Duffy’s still the only one charged, there’s still no taxpayer money missing, and still no one has adduced any evidence to contest Mr. Harper’s claim that he knew nothing about the deal cooked up between Mr. Wright and Mr. Duffy), I’m inclined to say that this particular episode in public spectacle is beginning to resemble Corb Lund’s famous video, “Truck Got Stuck”. Except that that would be insulting to Mr. Lund.

  6. “After all, the formula is simple: Wildly exaggerate the actual threat. Inflame the rhetoric. Blame The West for “climate change.” Brush aside true issues like the terrorism threat. And strap in — while the votes flow your way. It is a dishonest & ineffective way to distract voters from more immediate and genuine threats, such as statism and progressivism’s emotionalism & and damage to the economy adhering to the UN IPCC fraud & cleptocracy.” But then again, what else do they have; they’re out of political ammo.
Exactly. No wait, Burman wasn’t talking about himself & his fellow watermelon and terrorism enabling friends at AJ/CBC? Actually I “edited” his quote to ensure relevance, accuracy & relief from anti-capitalist imperialism running dogma.

  7. Mr. Harper is, by any rational measure, the best PM that we have ever had. If he only had the media in his corner or, at the very least, in a neutral corner, the next election would be in the bag. I certainly don’t envy his position … constantly being bombarded with innuendo and outright lies in an effort to portray him as some sort of evil tyrant presiding over a secretive empire bent on fulfilling a “hidden agenda”. By many standards, Canada is one of the best, if not the best country in which to live. This is not by accident. This is due to strong, principled leadership and common sense policies. I just wish that the PC campaign would concentrate more on this government’s accomplishments, of which there have been many and focus more on PMSH’s sense of humour and compassion. Cut back on the so-called attack ads. Trudeau and Mulcair write their own attack ads every time they open their mouths and spout garbage intended to pass as policy.
My wife recently asked me why the Prime Minister, who seems to be under constant attack by the media, never seems to defend himself. I can only answer that Mr. Harper is the only adult in the room and is unwilling to get involved in p*ssing contests with fools. Maybe, just maybe the time has come for Mr. Harper to indulge in a little urinating match with his opponents. This seems to be the only approach that the liv can appreciate.

  8. “Prioritizing the “persecuted religious minorities” – meaning “Christians, Yazidis [and] Jews” – as refugees who deserve an urgent humanitarian support is wrong, according to the Star.”
Wait another year, then there will be a lot fewer “Christians, Yazidis [and] Jews” – as refugees who deserve an urgent humanitarian support. ISIS will take care of that problem. None of the governments in the mideast will care, and even some will aid and abet ISIS in their “cleansing.”

  9. Burman may have been treated very well by Al Jezeera & Qatar during his time as a managing director & as their chief strategic advisor for the Americas, they’d likely also prefer a PM more likely to hamstring the Canadian O&G sector than PMSH; that may also be the case for the people at “Arabian Business magazine, who named him the second most influential non-Arab in the Arab world.”

  10. Isn’t the left-wing CBC the best place for the likes of Tony Burman to be employed. I wouldn’t de-fund the CBC. Reduce its funds, sure, and make it do something other than broadcasting, re-focus it on environmental projects. E.g. Tony Burman could do something really useful, e.g. picking up litter from ditches along our highways.

  11. “My wife recently asked me why the Prime Minister, who seems to be under constant attack by the media, never seems to defend himself. I can only answer that Mr. Harper is the only adult in the room and is unwilling to get involved in p*ssing contests with fools.”
    The Story of Akkosa
In the Akkosa Sutta, a man named Akkosa found out that one of his clansmen had just become a disciple of the Buddha. Outraged, Akkosa went to the Buddha to give the Buddha a piece of his mind – he hurled abuse and insults at the Buddha, telling the Buddha what he thought of him in no uncertain terms.
The Buddha was unmoved in the slightest by this barrage of insults and just asked a question in return:
“Do you sometimes receive visitors as guests?”
    “Yes I do” replied Akkosa.
“And when they come, do you offer them food and drink and courtesies?” asked the Buddha.
“Yes, sometimes I do” Akkosa said.
“So what if your guests don’t accept what you offer to them – where do the food, drink and courtesies return to?”
“They return to me of course!” Akkosa answered.
“Akkosa, you came here today, hurling insults and abuse at me. I do not accept what you have offered. So where do these insults and abuse return?”
    Akkosa got the picture.

  12. “…By many standards, Canada is one of the best, if not the best country in which to live. This is not by accident. This is due to strong, principled leadership and common sense policies. …”
Our good fortune also comes despite weak, unprincipled leadership and nonsense policies that we get from some of our governments. Prime Minister Harper and Premier Wall have been welcome aberrations in my experience of Canadian governments.

  13. “The politics of fear often works..”
Yes Mr. Burman, we get it that you are trying to scare us out of voting for Harper.

  14. I propose we test this hypothesis.
First, we put Mr. Burman in a room alone with an armed Harper.
Then, we put him in a room alone with an armed leader of ISIS.
We can then decide which was more dangerous.

  15. Pretty clear where the CBC is going with this…MMIW lives matter…doesn’t matter that most were killed by those closest to them and the solve rate is virtually the same as all other women.

  16. Burman Eh?
People like this need to get as much publicity as possible, nothing says Harper Derangement Syndrome like this kind of drivel.
Given the casual way this progressive twit dismisses the butchery, rape and enslavement that is ISIS, I would be hard pressed not to punch it on sight.
Loonies like Burman should not be loose in civil society, it might scare the children.
However the callus disregard for other peoples lives and the blatant misogyny that our media party wallows in sure makes me wonder about their audience.
Secondly this Guild of media prats, if it is the union representing TV workers, why is it so focussed on CBC?
Or is it a FOCBC shill as well?
How on earth do these media halfwits square the circle of their ethical dilemma?
As they belong to an organization actively campaigning against the CPC, how do they pretend to “cover the campaign”?
If I was subscribing to any of these networks I would want a refund and an apology.
Preferably of the old Japanese tradition.
So what do they do now? Start each broadcast with a disclaimer?
As members of the Guild of Calamitous Climate; the viewer should be aware everything we say is slanted by our cause?
Oh sorry wrong cult, “As a member of the Canadian Media Guild, I am contributing to an active political campaign to defeat the CPC, viewers will of course trust My unbiased objective reporting…”
Really you could not make this shit up.

  17. The Opposition and Media have put a new twist on the Duffy Scandal. The Bribe connotation was essential for the Liberals to
fabricate a 3day media story into a criminal act that would embody
the P.M. and Nigel wright. Duffys lawyer,Mulcair, Trudeau, and the Media are brushing over the Bribe, by concocting a “cover up Scandal.” Duffy’s defense that two highly intelligent men devised a plan to Bribe a Suspended Senator of Questionable intellect ( a
Duffy ) to bribe other Senators to not proceed with The Audit of
His alleged illegal expense claims. That Harper who had openly advised Those Senators to impliment an Outside Audit, was “forcing” Duffy to do this. The pity is there is million voters who will believe that Balderdash.747

  18. What kind of convoluted thought process would it take to accuse someone of lying for NOT telling someone something? Duffy’s lawyer is starting to give examples of why the phrase “the law is an ass” was coined.
If we were listening to the media rendition of events we’d be hard pressed to know who’s on trial here, the one formally charged or Nigel Wright and Stephen Harper.

  19. Agreed, you could not make this shit up. What Burman said of the Prime Minister of this country, the only leader here who is serious about fighting ISIS,should be considered hate speech, he should be sued along with the rag called the Toronto Star.
