EBD is taking a well deserved vacation. Until he returns (in about a month or so), you’re stuck with me. I thought I’d change things up a bit with the launch of Feminist Appreciation Week.

  5. Obama is OK with standing up for gay rights in Kenya, but there are 57 islamic countries where he will keep his mouth shut out of ‘respect’ for their traditions.
    Did human rights of any kind come up when he was bending over for Iran ?
    They hang gays high in the town square there, and are proud of it.

  6. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms Fraud
    Commenting on foreign policy, Roosevelt praised Soviet Russia as one of the “freedom-loving Nations” and stressed that Marshal Stalin was “thoroughly conversant with the provisions of our Constitution.” Roosevelt’s concept of freedom required people to blindly trust their leaders — a trust he greatly abused. He also denounced those Americans with “suspicious souls” who feared that he had “made ‘commitments’ for the future which might pledge this Nation to secret treaties” at the summit of Allied leaders in Tehran the previous month. But at that summit, he had secretly agreed to allow Stalin to move the Soviet border far to the West — thus consigning millions of Poles to life under direct Soviet rule. (Roosevelt and Stalin used roughly the same dividing line that Hitler and Stalin had used in 1939 to divide Poland into Nazi and Soviet spheres.)

  8. Funny how some things stick in your mind.
    I was plying n my trade at a local welding shop this week, on a trolley next to the power hacksaw I saw a dozen or so rifles, sporting mismatching trigger locks, some with telescopic sights, all cut in half right through the receiver.
    This picture has haunted me all week, it is a stark graphic of what government has come to mean to me.

  9. Feminist girls convince females they need a big daddy government to take care of them like the NDP or Liberals who will take their money and give them an allowance after taking a cut for themselves. Apparently that’s “empowering”…

  11. NEVER WOULD HAPPEN
    Re: Pat Ancelin’s July 20 letter “Support the NDP Royalty Review.” Pat states that if the PCs had taken care of royalty issues the past 40 years, similar to countries like Norway or U.S. states like Alaska, then maybe Alberta would have the multi-billions today that those places are benefiting from right now. Sorry, Pat, but history has shown this is politically impossible in Canada. First, in 1980, Alberta had $17 billion dollars of oil royalty cash saved in a trust fund when eastern Canadians from primarily Ontario and Quebec whined to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau about this perceived unfairness, after which the PM implemented his hated NEP and ripped off Alberta for $80.5 billion. Additionally, unlike Norway and Alaska, Alberta in the last 3.5 decades has paid out $450 billion dollars in welfare transfer payments to have not provinces predominantly presided over by left-leaning governments like the NDP who in turn have squandered it all. From this, Pat Ancelin should easily see Canadians will not tolerate that kind accumulation of cash by one province, because long before its accumulated the rest of Canada will demand that the politics of envy be enacted to strip any perceived excess in order to fund what the left or the NDP have always called a “fair and just society.”

  12. The export of oil and gas basically paid the freight on the balance of payments .
    Dollar dropping and the complaints are for the importers , theoretically manufacturing in the Ontario heartland should rebound with some cheaper input costs and lower dollar. However, the cost of hydro has more than doubled vrs a 20% decline in the currency
